Police are on high alert after Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, an Ethiopian national and convicted sex offender, was mistakenly released from HMP Chelmsford. Kebatu, sentenced to 12 months in prison for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, was due to be deported after serving his time. An urgent investigation by the Prison Service is underway, and an officer has been removed from discharge duties while enquiries continue.

Essex Police revealed that Kebatu, 38, boarded a train to London from Chelmsford Railway Station at 12:41 BST. The Prime Minister stressed that Kebatu must be detained and deported swiftly. Kebatu's initial arrest had triggered protests outside the Bell Hotel in Epping, where he was staying.

In September, Kebatu was found guilty of multiple charges involving a teenage girl and a woman who tried to help him. The Chelmsford Magistrates' Court sentenced him to 12 months in prison and issued a five-year sexual harm prevention order. Despite discrepancies in his age, stated as 38 but recorded in court as 41—he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a decade.

A Prison Service spokesperson emphasised that public protection was their top concern following the release error. Essex Police are collaborating with partner agencies in a high-speed operation to locate Kebatu. The Justice Secretary expressed his dismay on social media, highlighting the urgent efforts to apprehend the offender.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer described the mistake as unacceptable and ordered an immediate investigation. MP Marie Goldman called for a public inquiry to understand the error's cause, with worries about public safety mounting.

As authorities mobilise to recapture Kebatu, political reactions have been fierce, with criticisms of its current handling by both the Labour and Conservative parties. The search for Kebatu is ongoing as police continue their intensive efforts.

Key Takeaways:

  • Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu was mistakenly released from custody.
  • Police are urgently tracking him after he boarded a train to London.
  • Political leaders call for enquiries and measures to prevent future errors.

Failed state.

I hope other countries learn from the demise of the UK.

Broken Britain run my 2 tier keir and his useless and clueless Labour party voted in to power by the Majority of British people says it  all 😱

The question is, was this done on purpose, or not?

If this had been a made up story nobody would have believed it.  What a joke!

Essex Police were informed of the cock-up at 12:57. A bit late, as here is Kebatu being snapped by a member of the public just before he boarded the 12:41 train from Chelmsford to London.

34% of the population that voted opted for Labour because they thought that they couldn’t be worse than the Conservatives. How wrong were they?

If Labour get any votes that are not from brown-faced voters next time it will be a miracle.

The actual, fundamental problem with the country, of which the current government is just another symptom like all its predecessors, is that it was NOT voted in by a majority. They were given a 140+ SEAT majority in Westminster by barely a third of the votes.

THAT is the most urgent problem that needs fixing first before the decline can even be halted never mind reversed.

You can't blame the politicians for the laziness of the electorate. But then those too lazy/indifferent to vote cannot complain about what is elected.....no vote = no voice IMO  -  and voting should be compulsory (even if you have an 'abstain' option, or just spoil your ballot paper.

My post wasn't about the laziness of the electorate. That's another issue.

I was pointing out that no UK government ever has a majority even of those votes cast. Including this one. And implicitly that until the number of seats a party gets in parliament reflects the percentage of the national vote they were given in the election, the decline will continue.

My Mrs thought I was having a mental episode earlier when I saw this news on a UK website. All the effing and jeffing, she thought I was having a breakdown. You honestly could not make it up. Heads must roll after this. Prison governor first, higher up the government chain after.

This man would have been confused. Expecting to be transferred to another detention centre followed by deportation. Instead, he is handed a bag containing his personal effects and 76 Pounds in cash and told he's free to go!

Why should they? They are the UK's next to the highest ranking colonial administrators. And once Starmer is moved out of the way, they're going to be made the top administrators.

Mistakenly. Arf arf

Mistakenly allowed in via the old channel dingy gimmigrant route. Mistakenly escorted by the Royal Navy. Mistakenly allowed to repeatedly $%^%# a 14 yr old child. Then mistakenly released after the patriots went home. It's almost as if........no, it couldn't be.....🤣

Don't worry. All those people who couldn't be bothered to vote will be out next time.

Labour will face the most crushing defeat in British political history.

Starmer will be off to Davos with his tail between his legs. There is plenty of space there.

I hope so  off to the EU/ Davos for this WEF puppet may he rot in perpetuity never to return in any way, shape or form.

Shouldn't the title read Epping Hotel Asylum Seeker SEX OFFENDER Mistakenly Released From Prison.

On the news last night they said, I think 240, criminals were mistakenly released early. So more than one every working day. Of course every day in prison is a working day.

And yesterday this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/ckg42d50pdvt

Ugly <deleted> as well.

Well they  caught him   even though he had tried to turn himself into the prison multiple times

what a farce.

12 months for sexually assaulting a 14 year old girl, while Lucy Connolly got 31 months for a social media post that she took down after a few hours and apologized for.

Lucky this guy wasn't the wife of a Tory councilor.

It would seem many people were confused, the prison officers who released him, the Governor of the prison just to mention a few!
