Why did Trump Order a re start to Nuclear Tests

President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will restart nuclear weapons testing, overturning more than three decades of American policy and rattling global nonproliferation efforts.

In a Truth Social post hours before meeting China’s Xi Jinping, Trump said he had directed the “Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis” with rival powers, claiming the process would begin “immediately.” The move marks a dramatic shift from the 1992 moratorium that ended America’s era of atomic detonations.

The announcement comes as Russia, China, and North Korea expand their nuclear capabilities. Moscow this week confirmed testing its Burevestnik “Skyfall” cruise missile, while Beijing continues building silo fields, and Pyongyang unveiled a new intercontinental missile.

Experts warn that any U.S. resumption could trigger a new global arms race, undermining decades of arms control and diplomatic progress. “A U.S. test could set off an uncontrolled chain of events,” cautioned the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, “with other countries responding in kind.”

Since 1945, the U.S. has conducted 1,030 nuclear tests, the most of any nation. The last — codenamed “Divider” — was carried out in 1992 at the Nevada Test Site. Any new tests would likely occur there, though analysts note the facilities would need years of restoration before detonation could resume.

Trump’s declaration also raised bureaucratic confusion: nuclear testing falls under the Energy Department, not the Pentagon. The White House has not clarified which agency will carry out the order.

Key Takeaways:

  • Trump orders restart of U.S. nuclear testing after 33-year halt.

  • Move comes amid renewed atomic brinkmanship by Russia, China, and North Korea.

  • Experts warn it could ignite a new nuclear arms race and global backlash.

Probably because he is even more stupid than Putin.

Just to show he is king, but hopefully not for long..................:saai:

There is a HUGE difference between testing nuclear warheads and testing delivery systems.  Russia and North Korea are testing delivery systems - not warheads. China is building out its nuclear arsenal in response to US nuclear threats, like the fact that US politicians and generals have been promising to "Go to war with China by 2030" with the understanding that they aren't going to beat China - in China - with a conventional war.  The US, China, and Russia all set off their last nuclear warhead tests in the 1990s prior to the 1996 Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) which all signed, but the US and China failed to ratify.

Sooooo, if Trump unilaterally begins to set off new rounds to nuke tests, kiss the CTBT good-bye and welcome the restarting of nuclear warhead tests by all parties.  After which Man-Made Global Warning will most likely wipe out humanity before 2030 - just not the "Man-Made Global Warning" little Greta Thunberg is pedaling.

Because it is the space and weapon industry and science that drives the progress unfortunately, and always been like that

So he's not a puppet any more? Another silly narrative bites the dust.

Apparently Putin pointed out to Trump recently (maybe at Alaska)

about the upcoming expiration of the Nuclear proliferation treaty  and suggested a one year extension, which was ignored..and so it seems he went ahead and tested his new unlimited range nuclear powered missile !!! (without explosive payload)

And we all advance one more step towards Armageddon.

For the sake of the planet I hope he shuffles off this mortal coil, runs down the curtain, and joins the choir invisible, he is a dead parrot.

Trump's puffery knows no bounds. At least now the Dept of War is an accurate name.

The arms industry may indeed drive science. But it mostly drives profit & taxes. Oh, and useless wars and genocidal murders.
