Police in Pattaya have launched an investigation after human skeletal remains were discovered on a hill near Sangwan Beach on Koh Larn, Chonburi, on the afternoon of 2 November 2025. The bones, believed to belong to a tall adult, were found scattered across the area, suggesting the body had been decomposing for at least one to two months. The discovery has prompted forensic analysis to determine the victim’s identity and cause of death.

Police Lieutenant Chayaphon Yurord, an investigating officer from Pattaya City Police Station, received the report at around 15.50 and led a team of officers and Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rescue volunteers to the site. The remains were located approximately 50 metres into dense forest, off the walking path leading to a viewpoint above Sangwan Beach. The skull was found nearly 100 metres downslope and police collect scattered bones within that radius to ensure all fragments were recovered.

Nearby, officers found several personal belongings believed to have belonged to the deceased. These included a black and grey Nike backpack containing six cans of soda, a black waist bag with an insulin syringe and a packet of jelly, a black Gucci T-shirt, underwear and grey sneakers, size 12 UK (47 EU). A vodka bottle was discovered about a metre away. The items were collected as evidence for further examination.

Local resident Denchai Naruang, 40, who found the remains, said he had been foraging for forest produce and mushrooms when he came across the bag and human bones scattered on the ground. He initially thought he had found something valuable and called to his companion before realising what it was. “At first, I was terrified because I’d never seen anything like it,” he said, adding that he immediately alerted authorities.

Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the deceased, as no identification documents were found at the scene. The remains have been sent to the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine in Bangkok for autopsy and identity verification. Investigators will await the forensic results before determining the circumstances surrounding the death.
