Sir David Beckham has expressed his immense pride after being knighted by King Charles at Windsor Castle. The ex-football superstar was joined by Lady Beckham and his parents as he accepted the honour in recognition of his contributions to sport and charity. Beckham donned a stylish grey suit crafted by his wife, inspired by a young King Charles's fashion.

The football legend, aged 50, revealed King Charles admired his attire, crediting the monarch as a fashion influence. Beckham shared his deep patriotism, stating, "I've always said how important the monarchy is to my family." Sir David's accolades also include roles as a UNICEF ambassador and influencing London's successful 2012 Olympic bid.

Lady Beckham received her OBE in 2017 for her contributions to fashion, following Sir David’s OBE appointment in 2003. Sir David's illustrious career includes playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and LA Galaxy, and he retired from professional football in 2013. Besides, Beckham supports King Charles' education initiatives through his ambassadorship with The King's Foundation.

Also honoured at the ceremony were Nobel laureate Sir Kazuo Ishiguro and West End star Dame Elaine Paige. Sir Kazuo, known for works like "The Remains of the Day," was made a Companion of Honour. Dame Elaine, celebrated for her six-decade career, received recognition for her services to music and charity. She expressed gratitude, deeming her career "a joy."

Key Takeaways

  • Sir David Beckham was knighted by King Charles for his contributions to sport and charity.
  • Lady Beckham created the suit Sir David wore for the ceremony.
  • The honours included Nobel Prize-winning author Sir Kazuo Ishiguro and Dame Elaine Paige.

Fully deserved.   A great servant to his country, sport and charity.

  • Good news for the super-jock. It might even get a smile out of Posh Spice.

  • OMG. Forever the self-publicizing glory grabber ! Well done David - you've been angling for this gong for an eternity.   IMO time to ditch this Royalty bestowed grace and favour stuff - perh

IMO time to ditch this Royalty bestowed grace and favour stuff - perhaps William will abolish the nonsense when his turn comes . . . .

There are probably a hundred thousand unsung heroes in the UK that deserve recognition for selfless efforts and devotion more than slick Dave.

BTW - I'm sure that Becks is a decent enough Chappie - but evenso, what a Pantomime !

Beckham is OK, but the honours system is a joke these days.

Once Sadiq Khan gets an award, it becomes a mockery. May as well knight Roland Rat.

I'm not sure the timing on this one is the best.

Well deserved, Sir.  The Netflix documentaries about Beckham and the recent one about his wife, are well worth watching.

The honours list doesn't discriminate, unlike most of your posts.

If the list is a mockery, as you claim, surely more undeserving recipients, across a broad spectrum of race; religion, gender, background, achievements, occupation, etc , would be needed to prove the theory.

Au contraire. I would argue it positively discriminates, to coin a leftist oxymoron.

If you can find any, feel free to quote me. I won't hold my breath. 😄

Like most of your posts that makes absolutely no sense.

Let me get this right. In order to prove many current recipients are undeserving, I must provide a list of even worse candidates???? OK Bro. Like right on, man... 😄

It clearly doesn't discriminate, as can be seen by the different backgrounds, race, religion, etc of recipients of honours.

The one I quoted here, for starters.

No, that's not what I said. My post makes sense, when it is read and understood correctly. Please show where I suggested worse candidates needed to be listed. I'm not your bro.Thanks.

Good luck to him. At least they can take a joke on themselves

Seems to lean very heavily towards the DEI spectrum.

Nope. Try again.

Yes. You mentioned an undeserving recipient. I suggested you should mention more.

Your choice of recipient speaks volumes.

You seem to be the only person struggling to understand my post. Nuff said.

How would finding someone that is even worse than Sadiq Khan mean Sadiq Khan is worthy? OK, Jimmy Saville was worse. Does that mean Khan is suddenly now worthy? Makes no sense.

Why? Come on, let's hear your race baiting. It will be SO original. 😄

I highly doubt that. Most people have the sense not to get into a debate with you Bro.

Becks must have got his tax affairs in order... but I don't mind him being knighted as he has contributed to sport and charity etc., more worthy than many that get this gong like Khan who was knighted for his "ineptitude and contribution to the collapse and social desolation of London".

Why do you continue to misquote? I guess it helps to fit your agenda.

Well, he's achieved a lot more than anyone from your lower tier team!

Achieved in what way?

Torquay United is an integral part of the community. They consult the community on matters involving the club, they do good work for local charities. They host events for the disabled, and more.

Is that achieving, in your views?

I literally took a screenshot of your post. 😀

Stop gaslighting bro. It doesn't work on people like me just like your race baiting doesn't.

You need a new angle.

Yeah, he has caused the collapse of London - that's why they keep voting him in over and over again.

We know why you don't like him and it has nothing to do with his performance as mayor. Just have the balls to admit it.

I'm on the right angle. You are not listening. I've already explained, twice.

I've not been race dating either. The fact you think i have, speaks volumes.

I said he has achieved more, not that anyone from Torquay had not achieve anything. You are having a laugh,

Bye

Oops. That'll be race baiting.

How appropriate ...the " thrustingly ambitious "  Elaine Paige !
