Police have arrested two Indonesian men in Kanchanaburi after seizing eight kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 8,000 meth pills during a raid on a rented room near the Three Pagodas Pass border area. The operation, conducted on 12 November 2025, was led by officers from Provincial Police Region 7 in coordination with Sangkhla Buri Police and several military and immigration units. Both suspects denied involvement but were taken into custody for prosecution.

Police said the arrests followed intelligence reports that a quantity of narcotics had been smuggled into Thailand and was being stored in a rented property in Ban Phra Chedi Sam Ong, Sangkhla Buri District, pending transport further inland. Fearing the suspects might be armed, a joint task force carefully planned and executed the raid under the supervision of Pol Lt Gen Pisith Tanprasert, commander of Region 7 Police.

When officers arrived at the location, they knocked on the door while using ballistic shields for protection. A man briefly opened the door but attempted to close it after realising they were police. Officers forced entry and detained two Indonesian nationals, Mr Rahul Kana, aged 30 and Mr Sapriadi, aged 31. Inside the room, they discovered eight one-kilogram packages of crystal methamphetamine concealed in green Chinese tea bags, along with 8,000 methamphetamine pills packed in blue plastic bags. Three mobile phones were also confiscated as evidence.

The suspects were taken to Sangkhla Buri Police Station for questioning. Urine tests showed no trace of drug use in either man. Both denied all charges and claimed they had no knowledge of the narcotics found in the room, but police dismissed their statements as implausible. They have been charged with possession of Category 1 narcotics, methamphetamine and crystal meth, with intent to sell, an offence classified as trafficking and causing distribution among the public.

Authorities believe the arrests form part of an ongoing effort to intercept cross-border drug smuggling along the Thai–Myanmar border, a known trafficking route. Naewna reported that investigations are continuing to identify other members of the network and determine whether the suspects were working with a larger syndicate.
