A Thai YouTuber, Jaturong “Jack” Papho, faced backlash after posting a video of himself dancing on a car at a popular Mount Fuji photo spot. The video, uploaded on November 17, sparked outrage among Thai netizens who called for the Japanese Embassy to ban him from Japan due to concerns over the impact on the reputation of Thai tourists. The incident took place outside the Lawson Kawaguchiko-Ekimae branch, a renowned viewpoint in Yamanashi prefecture.

Jack's actions were captured by tourists and locals, but it was his dismissive online remarks that intensified the criticism. He responded sarcastically to detractors, questioning if his actions would even be recognized as Thai behavior and comparing reactions to his past conduct in other countries. His wife, Jariya “Tangmo” Rangwiroon, publicly distanced herself and their child from the controversy, highlighting her prior warnings against such behavior.

The incident drew sharp criticism from prominent figures, including travel blogger Ploypailin “Ploy” Tangprapaporn. Ploy emphasized Japan’s struggles with overtourism and how Jack's actions exemplify the inconsiderate behavior that exacerbates local frustrations. She highlighted that Japanese destinations have implemented stricter rules in response to such issues, and Jack's refusal to heed warnings was particularly concerning.

Thai netizens flocked to the Japanese Embassy's Facebook page to apologize and demand action against Jack. The administrator of the page reportedly forwarded the video to Japanese police, seeking potential legal repercussions. Despite issuing a public apology, Jack chose not to remove the video, stating that it was a mistake he intended to learn from. Opinions among his fans have been divided, with some continuing to support him while others express disappointment, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

This kind of disrespectful social media-entitled idiot nonsense should be reeled in... because it's out of control, and also it's for monetary compensation for said moron on top of the car.

Social medial buffoons should not be given a pass on doing whatever they want, wherever they want, as it is really annoying to most normal people... can imagine it is even more so in a society like Japan.

The way to keep these social media idiots in check is to do a tax audit of their antics and accounts... soon see who is a criminal and blagger.

The older gals seem to like it...

Hardly a major crime to get the netizens all twisted up with this media manufactured faux-outrage...

Just another 'nothing burger' social media attempts to blow out of proportion - if those reporting on such 'bad behavior' didn't report on it, then the vast majority of people would never see it.

There is a certain degree of irony in painting such behavior with scorn and then giving it the very publicity it craves - If there were no audience then there would be no attention seeking behavior like this - this is just another example of social media 'self serving'...  it generates the very outrage it reports on.

Thais in Japan have been criticised for their behaviour on numerous occasions in the past - reports have not been uncommon.

The surge began when Thai's were granted a free 15-day visa on arrival, which triggered a sharp rise in Thai tourism to Japan. At the same time, Japan extended similar visa-free entry to several other nationalities, and tourism across the country expanded dramatically. Inevitably, this brought with it a degree of local frustration in certain regions where the sheer volume of visitors began to feel overwhelming.

And, as with any destination experiencing a high influx of tourists - whether Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Bali, Spain, Goa or anywhere else - there will always be a minority who behave poorly. It’s a numbers game: increase the crowd and statistically you increase the handful who act like idiots.

Thais abroad certainly don’t have a monopoly on bad behaviour, just as foreigners in Thailand don’t. It’s a universal pattern whenever mass tourism takes hold.

That is quite the typical, ridiculous Thai dance, which when done by a guy looks extremely ridiculous.

So the answer would be "YES"

Seems Japan now suffers from "quality tourists"

The Lawson Kawaguchiko-Ekimae store is a popular photo spot?

The whole town might then be considered a Fuji popular photo spot.

I have seen quite a few Thai ladies dancing on top of cars in various markets or car shows, however, I would be the last person to complain about them. 😍

You married an idiot... tell him to go find a real job or move on.

How sad does your life have to be, if you get bent out of shape over THIS?

Yes, particularly the swart ones from the US and the dark continent who make it their aim to antagonize random people.

None of this crap happened in Pinochet's Chile.  He knew how to deal with this ilk: a dungeon, a chair, and a strong electrical current applied to the genitals kept them in line.  I'd tune in to that livestream.
