Russia mouthpiece threat: assassinate EU President von der Leyen

Putin Propagandist Calls For Assassinating Top EU Leaders

The Kremlin’s most notorious state propagandist has issued an extraordinary on-air call for Russia to assassinate two of Europe’s most senior political leaders, branding the EU a “terrorist organisation” and labelling Commission President Ursula von der Leyen “the new Hitler.”

Vladimir Solovyov, one of Vladimir Putin’s most loyal media attack dogs, used his Full Contact radio programme to rage against a new EU plan to raise nearly £80 billion for Ukraine by seizing or leveraging frozen Russian assets. Europe currently holds more than £180 billion in blocked Russian state and private funds, the majority locked in Belgium’s Euroclear system.

Enraged by the proposal, Solovyov demanded that Russia declare the EU’s leadership terrorists and treat them accordingly. “Ursula von der Leyen is trying to steal our assets,” he fumed. “We have a new Hitler… Anyone related to the EU structure should be treated as a terrorist. If we find them in the outhouse, we’ll whack them there.”

He also targeted Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas — long one of the Kremlin’s most outspoken critics — urging Russia to “pursue” both officials globally.

Brussels has framed the new financing plan as a vital step in maintaining Ukrainian resistance into 2027, with von der Leyen saying the cash would cover two-thirds of Kyiv’s needs and stressing that “pressure is the only language the Kremlin responds to.”

Belgium, however, has expressed caution, warning it could face heavy legal exposure if it unilaterally transfers frozen Russian funds.

Solovyov’s threats escalate a growing propaganda campaign aimed at intimidating European leaders as Moscow attempts to fracture EU unity. Western diplomats say the comments are designed to test Europe’s political resolve — and to shift domestic Russian anger outward as battlefield losses continue.

Key Takeaways

  • Putin’s top propagandist called for the assassination of EU leaders, branding von der Leyen “the new Hitler” and urging Russia to treat the EU as a “terrorist organisation.”

  • The fury stems from an EU plan to raise £80bn for Ukraine by seizing or leveraging frozen Russian assets — part of £180bn blocked across Europe.

  • Kremlin rhetoric ramps up pressure on EU unity, aiming to intimidate leaders backing long-term Ukrainian funding.

Its not a new plan  they have been trying to come up with schemes to confiscate these assets for years....the problem is not only is it illegal  hence the convoluted schemes to try and disguise the measures  but it would destroy the credibility of the Euroclear system..who are seeking commitments that the money
if paid to Ukraine are insured by all the other EU countries

( mostly Germany) if/when the courts decide the move was illegal.

And the other thing to remember is that these are already frozen assets  so the damage done to Russia is already baked in.
