Police Raids On Go Go Clubs

I am a frequent visitor to Go Go clubs and have noticed recently that several clubs have been harassed by the Police. The special shows and the fun and games come to a halt and patrons depart in search of another venue to find what they are looking for.

I have spoken to the Mamasangs, the girls and other patrons and nobody is happy, everybody looses. We all have to wait a couple of weeks then everything is back to normal. Why do the BIB do this, it serves no purpose other than to just p!ss everybody off?

Sure, some guys buy one drink and sit and watch the sex shows, but the main business in a bar is guys spending money on the girls, not watching the shows.

not sure about the number of the soi but it's about halfway down walking street between the entrance and tony's,which seems to be the turn around point for us and others.a big red lighted sign with a witch points the way and it is a little further up the soi past the beach club,a club which used to have bottomless dancers on mirrored tables but will now have to find another gimmick.

yes,polo does have a decent show with more variety and originality than most.just going up the stairs past the line of girls while our backsides are being photographed by the tourists below is a treat.also enjoy waving at the russian dancers in their corner bubble and a new attractive black dancer has been in the bubble lately.

Some ludicrous arguments

There are all sorts of people who spend their money in Pattaya's bars. Some will continue to spend and some wont. Some will transfer their spending to other forms of entertainment. It is more a matter of percentage decline rather than absolutes.

Well one can estimate how many by observing how many successful bars keep the clothes on. This trade is already picked up by the coyote bars and gogos cater for those that like clothes off. So on average, all gogo customers prefer clothes off.

Probably correct but it will make a major impact on the gogo bars. A stage full of bikini clad shufflers will only cater to those who follow the model of selecting a number and going. They will lose all those that are not interesting on bar fining and just want to be entertained. There is little entertainment in the shuffle for non bar finers.

The gogos are also likely to lose those who like a bit of fun before selecting a barfine. Perhaps Soi 6 type bars will pick up an awful lot of trade as fun can be still be had even without shows.

There is also the fact that customers apply pressure with their wallets. If all bars were to stop showing then you may be correct, but in reality some bars take more risks than others. Customers rapidly move on from non-showing bars and find the edgier bars. The legal bars become under massive pressure to take risks just because they get few customers.

There are so many bars at the moment with so few customers that even the loss of a few people from the market will hurt enormously...I suspect that the volatility and need to make money will make non-showing gogos go bankrupt pretty quick so there will surely be an impetus to either take risks or find another way to make people pay for adult entertainment.

I would guess in the long run that revenue from drinks sales will decline massively. Girls will still get taken but the drinking pre-amble will be much curtailed.

Sanitizing the Go-Go establishments IS a big deal.

The police go through the motions of enforcing the laws on the books every low season. Every high season they revert to a more "laissez-faire" approach.

The Go-Go business has been evolving all along. The current situation is that the clubs are now paying quite reasonable salaries due to the competition for talent. Salaries in the region of 15-20,000+ baht per month are common for the girls that "show". Add in tips and commisions from "lady drinks", and the result is many are content not to indulge in off-premises activities.

To the point, I am a male. I am hard-wired to enjoy the sight of nud_e women. If there are no nud_e women in Go-go bars, then there is no reason for me to go there. Bikinis? Not interested. Duct tape? Not interested.

We are all born naked. Wanting to look at naked women is natural. Wanting to stop me from looking at naked women(with their permission ) is not natural. This is, of course, my opinion.

Who's talking about clothes on in bars? I'm talking about bikinis, t-back bikinis. They'll still be plenty of interest because not many people come to Pattaya for the live shows, but for companionship. The shows are so common these days that people are bored with them and don't pay them much attention. Not many of them achieve their intended purpose of increasing business, and most just have them because everyone else does. I can think of one very successful bar (one of the busiest in town) which doesn't concentrate on shows at all.

Keep up the raids, close down the shows. We don't need them here.

Tropo - I don't like the shows either. But many Asian tourists do. the coach parties and group tours of men will happily watch the shows, but individuals will not book girls for late-night take-home. They are in a group and will act in the same way as the rest of the group.

So there are different customers for different premises.

When I 'play-away' it is really away - because I go to Angeles City, where bikinis are the norm. But as my wife does the hair and nails of many of the Pattaya girls, I have to be very very careful.

Sorry that quote about your friend showing off the porn magazine featuring his daughter is more than a bit weird, even more weird is the fact that you indeed looked at the magazine with him. As you can see the poor Go Go dancer needs all the cash she can get. She has a lot of responsibilities.

I agree with the degradation problem. However she has a large support network to help her get over that situation. Her parents who encouraged her to come to the big city to work and are constantly calling her to ask for money will assist her. If the Go Go dancer was pushed out of dancing into a bar or freelancing she would displace all the 7/11 employees who are now working bars and Beach road part time causing them to not be able to support their Thai boyfriends who would turn to crime and make Thailand in general and Pattaya specifically a much more violent place to vacation which would drive out the tourists that populate the new high rise hotels. It would also scare the Asian tourists whose embassies would issue travel alerts and turn around the current Asian tourist boom.

This would crush the Thai economy and bring about another crash like 1997.

The Baht would fall to 80 to the dollar and I could afford to buy up half of walking street. By this time everyone would be ready to do anything to prop up the economy including nud_e dancing which would make a comeback and I would become rich.

I wasn’t out for long. I only stayed at the club for one drink. The police had been there last night and made all the ladies wear bikinis. I, however do live in Pattaya and am out most nights.
