Some very informative notes at the the conclusion of the article  idicate that 1.7 trillion is probably a conservative figure.

 

Must be exciting to be in the manufacturing business and not know from one day to the next what your input costs will be.

One of the reasons, if not the main reason,  that Trump's tariffs haven't had as much of an effect on inflation as anticipated most likely is that, in effect, tariffs aren't nearly as high as they were touted to be.

Or when Trump said his tariffs wouldn't cause inflation he was factually correct unlike the doom and gloom fake media who all attacked him on the false narrative Trumps big beautiful tariffs would cause inflation?

The tariffs have caused inflation.

Fed's Powell says inflation overshoot caused by Trump tariffs

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Wednesday that the current overshooting of the central bank's 2% inflation target is mostly the result of President Donald Trump's import tax hikes.

"It's really tariffs that are causing the most of the inflation overshoot," Powell said after the latest Fed meeting, reiterating his expectation the tariff impact on inflation is likely to be a "one-time price increase."

What are you talking about?  Where did Powel say that Inflation was at the more than expected level? All he said that what inflation there was is due to tariffs. He said nothing about previous expectations.

Ahhh steak is 20$ a effin pound I tryed to buy (3) 4 inch by 4 inch 3/16 inch pieces of steel to weld up a little bracket fixture I need,at industrial metal supply they wanted 21$ and change for those tiny pieces of steel…..all materials wood paint hardware are up bigly because of trumps tariff tax on us consumers…..everything is up that’s reality.
