Hat Yai Immigration temporarily moved to the airport IO

Featured Replies

Everybody who has to go to Hat Yai immigration be aware that they moved temporarily to the airport immigration (turn right just before the airport check-point). They couldn't say for how long, so if you have to go there this or next month, better call them and ask where they are (074 257 015).

They originally moved to the Port office in Songkhla, the airport is slightly less inconvenient, but the wife hasn't bothered doing my TM30, it can wait until after my next work trip in January.

Any updates on this topic? Have they reopened in the city yet?

Just got back from Laos this evening, wife will need pop in to immigration and do my TM30 tomorrow; if she can. If it's still at the airport they can whistle.

I mean Monday not tomorrow, forget which day it is.

How's Laos these days? Have been there since the 80s!

Vientiane remains fairly tame, it's modernising rapidly but still feels like a Thai provincial town, think Hua Hin. I've been retained as a consultant for another year and picked up a shiny new business visa and work permit this trip.

Answer is a little confusing.

The TM30 reporting is to the foreigner registration office, the building to the right of the main office. Wife went there this morning, it's open and busy as usual on a Monday with lots of Burmese labourers. The clerk recognised the wife and called her over, bypassing the Burmese, he did the TM30 but said next time she should do this at the airport office!

If that's the case will need to sign up for doing it online. The main office seemed to be busy and working normally, but whether all work is done there or some stuff offloaded to the airport office I don't know. The website gives no information.

Thanks Stocky..I hope they move it all back to town asap before my next one-year extension comes up. From what I have learned from various sources, the 90-day used to be two weeks before or one week after, but that is only for in-person reporting so if it needs to be done online you need to complete the process before the due date.

Thankfully I don't need to do the 90 day reports as work takes me out of Thailand every six to eight weeks. But the wife is supposed to register my presence every time I return home. My marriage extension isn't due until May, hopefully all is settled by then, the wife will call in to pick up the forms the month before, so will find out exactly which office we're supposed to use then.

Thanks Stocky. Please keep us posted, I am good until July, with my visa extension based on my work, not my marriage. (the wife is the director of the school). Have you been back into Kimyong yet?

That's a pain, the Hat Yai office is open, but not for extensions it seems. I hope this isn't permanent.

Were you affected by the floods Swissbie?

We didn't have water in the house, but we were cut off. I had to go to the hospital and was sent from from one to the other, as most of them had problems. Wasn't funny, but many others had it much worse.

Glad to hear you stayed above water. I think all the hospitals, except PSU Mor Or, were flooded to some extent, though wisely (like the banks) they have little that's vital at ground level.

I made my extension today and they said that they will move back to the old place next month. They didn't know which day, but they seemed confident that they will move back.

Okay, they are back to the old place. Had to make another 90 days report and it seems, that the old place is good luck for me. Was in an out in less then 5 minutes. Please no floodings any more..

Thanks for the update, that is good news, 1.2km away instead of 12km.
