Immigration police in Nonthaburi arrested three Cambodian migrant workers for overstaying their visas during an early morning raid on a rented property, while another man was charged for failing to report foreign tenants. The operation led to the detention of those found to be living in Thailand illegally and the initiation of legal proceedings before deportation.

The raid took place at 7.00am on December 20, 2025, at an unnumbered rental house in Soi Thepphanom, Tiwanon 24, Bang Krasor subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi district. Officers from the Nonthaburi Immigration Office, led by Pol Col Phatthongthiw Damapong, Pol Lt Col Sukrit Meebamrung and Pol Capt Thanawat Kanthanikun, acted on reports from residents about suspicious behaviour by several foreign nationals.

The property was described as a temporary, single-storey structure roofed with corrugated metal and divided into several rooms, enclosed by a fence. When officers surrounded the site to conduct a search, some workers attempted to flee by climbing onto the roof and running away, but all were eventually apprehended.

Five Cambodian nationals were found at the premises, comprising four men and one woman. Three men were charged with overstaying their permitted period of stay: Mr Sovi, 49, who had overstayed by 311 days; Mr Koy, 34, by 1,603 days; and Mr Vibo, 37, by 1,725 days. All were charged under Section 81 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 for entering and remaining in the Kingdom after their permission had expired.

Police also arrested Mr Yuak, 48, who identified himself as the owner of the rental rooms. He was charged under Section 38 of the same Act for being a house owner or occupier who allowed foreign nationals to stay without notifying authorities of their residence.

During questioning, the Cambodian workers admitted they had originally entered Thailand legally for work but failed to extend their visas. They said they had since taken informal jobs, including collecting and transporting recyclable materials using a sidecar motorcycle.

Khoasod reported that authorities stated that all suspects were handed over to Rattanathibet Police Station for further legal action. Immigration officials confirmed that, after court proceedings, the overstaying workers would be deported back to Cambodia in accordance with the law.
