A fatal road crash on the M81 motorway in Kanchanaburi province left one man dead and one woman injured in the early hours of 27 December 2025, prompting a police investigation into the cause of the crash. The collision involved a private car and a six-wheel truck that was parked while carrying out work at the site, causing significant damage and immediate loss of life.

Police from Nong Khao station received a report at 2.45am on 27 December 2025 from volunteers of the Khun Rattanawut Foundation. They were alerted to a serious crash at the M81 underpass near kilometre marker 92 in Nong Khao subdistrict, Tha Muang district, Kanchanaburi. Officers and rescue workers were dispatched to examine the scene and assist the victims.

At the location, authorities found a white Chevrolet Sonic with Kanchanaburi registration severely damaged at the front after crashing into the rear of a six-wheel truck. The truck was parked in the area and was reported to be engaged in operational work at the time of the incident. The force of the impact left the car crushed under the back of the truck.

Two people were affected by the crash. The first injured person was identified as Ms Wannarat, aged 23, who was working on the back of the six-wheel truck when the collision occurred. She sustained an injury to her right ankle, received first aid from volunteers and was later taken to Makarak Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Mr Rangsi Chaila, aged 44, a resident of Pak Phraek subdistrict in Kanchanaburi. His body was found behind the steering wheel and officers noted the presence of a large wedding photograph inside the car, discovered broken into two pieces, which added to the distress of those at the scene.

Daily News reported that initial enquiries indicate that the six-wheel truck was stationary and carrying out work when Mr Rangsi’s car drove into it at speed. Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the precise cause of the crash, including road conditions, visibility and possible driver factors. Legal procedures will follow if necessary, once the investigation is complete.

So were they carrying out road repairs or repairs to the truck ? Either way were they showing any hazard lights ?

That almost a perfect pocket parking.
