A man has surrendered to police in Chonburi, admitting to shooting a teenager due to anger over an insult. The incident took place at approximately 6:00 PM on January 4 in Ban Suan, Mueang Chonburi. CCTV captured the suspect on a red motorcycle pursuing the victim, Mr. Boonrit, before a confrontation led to gunfire.

Investigators report the suspect accosted Boonrit, shouting and challenging him, before firing a handgun. Boonrit was shot in the left buttock, necessitating hospitalization, but stated he was unfamiliar with his attacker. Local residents noted Boonrit's reputation for glue sniffing, speculating the violence began over a perceived stare.

The suspect turned himself in on January 5, confessing to the police that he felt insulted and acted impulsively with an unlicensed firearm. Police have charged him with attempted murder, illegal firearm possession, and carrying a weapon publicly. He is in custody pending further legal proceedings.

Authorities are reviewing evidence to finalize the case and have emphasized the risks of armed altercations. Increased patrols aim to reassure residents, highlighting the need for de-escalation in public disputes. Meanwhile, Boonrit remains in stable condition, awaiting further medical assessment, reported The Thaiger.
