Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has urged the public to trust only official information amidst rumors regarding Cambodian troop movements near the border. He cautioned that relying on unverified claims could unwarrantedly raise fears of renewed conflict. The prime minister emphasized the importance of intelligence from authorized agencies, dismissing speculative reports found on social media.

Recent reports suggested Cambodian military deployment, leading to concerns of potential conflict escalation. Mr. Anutin stated that the government depends on insights from the armed forces, intelligence units, and the National Security Council (NSC) for security assessments. He maintained that a thorough evaluation by the NSC is essential before jumping to conclusions about any confrontation.

The prime minister dismissed Cambodia's assertion that it would not accept border demarcations by force. He affirmed Thailand's commitment to its sovereignty and to managing border issues through diplomatic and international channels. Inquiries about whether bilateral discussions could progress under Thailand's caretaker government were met with assurances that communication continues between officials on both sides.

Formal actions such as signing agreements or holding meetings of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) are currently on hold. This pause is due to the need for a new administration, as the JBC chair's term ended with the previous government's exit. Mr. Anutin indicated that these formal processes would resume once a new government is in place, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways

  • PM Anutin stresses reliance on official intelligence amid border rumors.

  • The JBC's activities are paused pending a new Thai administration.

  • Diplomatic channels remain active despite the caretaker government.

"Trust", is there such a word here..........🤫

But you can wonder if the official sources are trustworthy in Thailand.. There is a kind of screening for freedom of speech and writings, which can influence the trustworthy, as things only in favor will be announced. Critics are not done

Official sources? Meaning government propaganda?

Like, there is no inflation in Thailand now? Food prices in Thailand are declining?

These "official" facts are not confirmed by visits to any markets, food shops or supermarkets.
