A homeowner in Phra Pradaeng district, Samut Prakan, was left shocked after the body of an unidentified man was found dead inside a dog cage beneath a raised riverside house, prompting a police investigation into how he accessed the property and the cause of death. The discovery was reported at about 2.30pm on 11 January 2026, with officers from Phra Pradaeng Police Station and rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation attending the scene. Police confirmed the man had been dead for several days and that no immediate identification was available.

The incident occurred at a single-storey concrete house built on stilts alongside a canal in tambon Song Khanong, Phra Pradaeng district. The side of the property is used as a parking area and for keeping two large dog cages, one of which was positioned close to the rear of the house. Inside the metal bars of the first cage, officers found the body of a man believed to be aged between 50 and 55, who had been dead for an estimated four to five days, causing a strong smell across the area.

A witness told police they first noticed an unpleasant odour on 10 January, initially assuming it came from animal waste due to limited time for cleaning the property. The smell intensified the following day, leading the witness to investigate further after seeing large flies gathering near the dog cage. On closer inspection, the body was seen hanging inside the cage, prompting a call to local community leaders and police, with the witness noting they felt less afraid discovering the body in daylight.

Neighbours reported that three to four nights earlier they had heard dogs barking unusually loudly for an extended period during the night. At the time, the barking was dismissed, but neighbours now believe it coincided with the fatal incident. No residents in the surrounding area recognised the deceased or recalled seeing him in the neighbourhood previously.

Police said preliminary checks showed there was no conventional access route to the location of the dog cage. Investigators believe the man either crawled under the raised house or entered the dog cage area first, tearing the metal mesh before climbing through. The property borders a drainage canal, with no adjacent footpath or open access from surrounding land.

Khoasod reported that officers recorded the scene and filed an initial report before transferring the body to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators are also working to identify the man and trace his background, movements and any relatives or acquaintances who may provide further information under legal procedures.
