Trump Administration Sends More Federal Agents to Minneapolis

The rule is simple: intent and attempts at authoritarian overreach are dangerous and deserve strong condemnation, but they aren't legally equivalent to completed crimes like mass extrajudicial killings.

The distinction between attempted/intended authoritarian overreach and completed criminal acts (which trigger actual legal consequences) is a bedrock principle of criminal law, constitutional protections, and human rights standards worldwide—not some special carve-out for one political side.

  • Intent + failed attempt = moral/political crisis, impeachment fodder, public rebuke, but rarely criminal prosecution unless it crosses into conspiracy or incitement.

  • Intent + successful act that deprives people of life, liberty, or rights = crime, often a grave one (e.g., deprivation of rights under color of law, crimes against humanity).

That line isn't hypocrisy or relativism; it's what prevents democracies from prosecuting people for bad thoughts or rhetorical excesses while still holding them accountable when they actually cross into illegal deeds.

Iran's regime crossed that line with lethal force, mass arrests, and systematic suppression.

Trump's most concerning statements and musings (e.g., "terminate" rhetoric, Insurrection Act talk) stayed on the intent/attempt side and were checked by institutions—dangerous, yes; legally equivalent to extrajudicial killings, no.

The standard is consistent and universal. If it weren't, we'd be criminalizing every politician's worst off-the-cuff remark, and that's not a principle worth defending.

If attempted murder is a crime because intent plus a concrete act matters regardless of outcome, why does attempted authoritarian abuse of state power become irrelevant simply because it failed?

It doesn't matter if they are "unwanted." Because of course Minnesota politicians don't them there. I suppose everyone has forgotten just why ICE went to Minneapolis. It was because of widespread fraud involving billions of dollars being fraudulently used primarily by Somali crime rings on fake daycare centers. Walz and Frey don't want ICE there, because they've layered in the protection for the fraudsters and criminals, many of whom are illegally in the US.

A case that was prosecuted under Biden and the perpetrators sent to prison.

A Department of Homeland Security whistleblower has released the identities of about 4,500 ICE and Border Patrol employees Tuesday in what has been called potentially the largest agency data breach for the department.

Information included in the new leak includes around "1,800 on-the-ground agents and 150 supervisors. Early analysis by the organization suggests that around 80 per cent of the staff identified remain employed by DHS," according to The Beast.

The first batch of names was slated to be posted on the site on Tuesday night.

Members of the public have reportedly also shared information about agents in hotels and even neighbors.

“I’ve had hotel staff sending post-it notes, bar staff sending DHS IDs, and loads of people saying their neighbour is an agent,” Skinner said.

I think murdering an unarmed lady, who is trying to leave is unacceptable, but a few of you weirdo's think its OK.......You get on with it, if it were Biden still in control, YOU would be SCREAMING the opposite...........FACT.............🤥

Nobody here thinks "murdering" anyone is OK—not me, not "a few of you weirdo's" (nice ad hominem, by the way; real mature). What I think is unacceptable is you playing executioner based on 47 seconds of video, ignoring the full evidence (autopsy? Dispatch logs? Unreleased footage? Nah, who needs that?). The agent claims self-defense against a car accelerating toward him—disputed, sure, but that's why investigations exist, genius. Not your feelings.

And the Biden flip-flop fantasy? If this happened under Biden, I'd say the exact same thing: Due process first—investigate thoroughly, charge if warranted, trial, verdict. No skipping steps because "unarmed lady" tugs at heartstrings.

But you? You'd probably be the one screaming "fake news" or "deep state cover-up" if it didn't fit your narrative. FACT: Hypocrisy is bipartisan, but yours is on full display.Get off your soapbox, drop the "weirdo" labels, and let the facts scream for themselves. Justice isn't a partisan scream-off; it's a process. If the evidence nails the agent, he'll fry. Until then, your "murder" chant is just noise from the peanut gallery.

Keep screaming the opposite if it helps you sleep—I'll stick to reality!!

Of course if want to go back in time to before Magna Carta, 1215, when due process never existed, and lynchings were the order of the day, that's up to you?glare

Wrong. She turned her car away from the officer. The wheels indicated that. 2 shots were fired into the side left window killing her. Clearly he was in no harm’s way when he fired those fatal shoots. Prosecutors were ordered to investigate Renee Good to try muddle the waters and they resigned in disgust.

You defending the indefensible. You just spewing rubbish.

I don't see any issue with the woman changing home locations. It is very common for Americans to move around the country for work or family.

Some may remember Kyle Rittenhouse shot people while living in Illinois and murdering killing two in Wisconsin.

As for America being a democracy, there are those who say it is a republic (majority doesn't rule), not a democracy (majority rules).

Illegally ordered. No warrant and no probable cause. And, no jurisdiction in the first place--ICE has zero authority with traffic issues, which is what this initially was, a car partially blocking the road. The ICE agents were in the wrong and breaking the law from the get-go.

Two Minneapolis residents who have been monitoring immigration officers' actions during the Trump administration's latest crackdown say they were detained without charge for several hours in distressing conditions, denied phone calls, and pressured to rat out protest organizers and people living in the country illegally.

The accusations leveled by Brandon Sigüenza and Patty O’Keefe suggest that the Department of Homeland Security is employing similar tactics in Minneapolis and St. Paul as it did during the crackdowns in Los Angeles, Chicago and New Orleans. Federal officers are again using roving patrols, warrantless arrests and aggressive tactics such as spraying chemical irritants, breaking car windows and recording protesters, including Renee Good and her vehicle in the moments before an ICE officer fatally shot her.

According to organizers and an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit, immigration officers have also been surveilling activists who have been observing their activities in the Twin Cities, violating their First Amendment rights. And Sigüenza, who like his friend O'Keefe is a U.S. citizen, said an immigration officer who questioned him Sunday even offered him money or legal protection if he gave up the names of organizers or neighbors who are in the country illegally.

Immigration agents were faulted more than a decade ago for tactics that have fallen under intense scrutiny in the wake of a fatal shooting of a motorist in Minneapolis.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection attempted to block a scathing 21-page report in 2014 that found agents had deliberately stepped in the path of cars to justify shooting at drivers and fired gunshots in frustration at individuals throwing rocks from the Mexican side of the border, reported the Los Angeles Times in February 2014.

“It is suspected that in many vehicle shooting cases, the subject driver was attempting to flee from the agents who intentionally put themselves into the exit path of the vehicle, thereby exposing themselves to additional risk and creating justification for the use of deadly force,” stated that report, which was commissioned more than a decade ago by CB

Border agents faulted years ago for tactics blamed in fatal Minneapolis shooting

The Washington Post reported this week. "The SUV did move toward Ross as he stood in front of it, according to a Post analysis of video footage. But he moved out of the way and fired at least two of three shots from the side of the vehicle as it veered past him, the analysis found. Available videos of the incident reviewed by The Post do not show clearly if Good’s SUV made contact with Ross."

dear thumbs down crew

Key Federal Statutes & Examples:

  • 18 U.S.C. § 111: Forcibly assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal law enforcement officers in their duties.

  • 18 U.S.C. § 1512: Tampering with a witness, victim, or informant, or destroying/altering evidence, leading to potential sentences of up to 30 years.

  • 18 U.S.C. § 1503: Corruptly influencing or impeding jurors or court officers, with penalties up to 20 years.

  • 18 U.S.C. § 3056(d): Specifically for obstructing Secret Service protective functions, requiring willful interference.

And, she did neither. She was sitting in a parked car. The ICE agents could have easily driven around her. They chose to illegally engage in what was a traffic situation, for which they have zero authority. Zero. Not only were they breaking the law, they then broke a number of ICE rules, to boot.

Keep trying to put over MAGA's latest Big Lie. Not working on me or anyone else who hasn't drunk the Kool-Aid. Check the latest polls, your Big Lie is failing badly, with only 27% believing her killing was justified.

Don't bother. I had SuperSight done and I can see perfectly, as can the vast majority of Americans, who agree the killing was unjustified. Sorry, your Big Lie just isn't working this time. Way too much video evidence that even the myopic can see shows the killing was a murder.

The latest howler is the asinine claim that the murdering agent was 'bleeding internally'. As doctors have pointed out, if that were actually true he never would have been released, and so quickly, from the hospital. He would have been admitted to discover where inside he was bleeding, as, obviously, that would be very serious. They also pointed out that an injury like that would take strong, blunt force trauma, such as a vehicle hitting you at a high rate of speed. The more ridiculous Big Lies MAGA tries, the worse they look.
