A Myanmar man, Zaw Kala Stone, aged 27, sustained critical injuries after being attacked with a knife near a convenience store in Samut Prakan on January 13. Emergency teams responded promptly and found him with multiple severe slash wounds, particularly to his nearly severed right foot. Medical personnel provided immediate treatment before transporting him to Bang Phli Hospital.

This attack happened during Stone's first visit to see his 30-year-old girlfriend, Ni, also from Myanmar. The couple was at Ni's workplace, a noodle shop, when a customer, who often flirted with Ni, assaulted Stone. The assailant then pursued and attacked him again outside the convenience store.

Ni explained that the attacker was a regular at the shop and had shown continuous interest in her. The noodle shop owner supported this, adding that the attacker had previously attempted to obtain Ni’s phone number. Authorities suspect jealousy as the motive, observing this was the victim's first visit to see Ni, triggering the assailant's aggression.

Police are actively investigating, examining CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the suspect. This incident mirrors a similar one in November where a Thai man, driven by jealousy, stabbed his girlfriend in front of her child in Samut Prakan. Both cases highlight the severe consequences of possessiveness and unchecked emotions.

Key Takeaways

  • A Myanmar man suffered critical knife wounds during a first visit to his girlfriend.

  • Jealousy is suspected as the motive, with the attacker previously pursuing the victim’s girlfriend.

  • Authorities are reviewing CCTV to identify the attacker and prevent further incidents.
