Police in Pattaya have issued a public alert to locate a suspect accused of a violent robbery targeting a Chinese female property sales coordinator, warning residents that the man is believed to be hiding in the Jomtien area. Authorities say the suspect, identified as Mr Gong Gaopeng, remains at large after an incident on 11 January 2026 that left the victim traumatised but alive. Officers have urged anyone with information to contact police immediately via 191 or a dedicated investigation number operating 24 hours a day.

The case stems from a premeditated attack on Ms Yang, also known as “Wendy”, a Chinese national working as a real estate coordinator in Pattaya. Police said she was allegedly lured to view a property late at night on 11 January before being threatened with a knife and forced to transfer money. The suspect then reportedly bound her body with adhesive tape and abandoned her inside her vehicle.

The victim survived after members of the Civil Defence Volunteer Unit noticed the parked vehicle. They rescued Ms Yang and alerted police, while the suspect had already escaped under cover of darkness.

Investigators later reviewed CCTV footage from multiple locations and identified images believed to show the suspect. Police said the man was last seen near Jomtien Beach, after which no further movements were detected. Officers believe the suspect may be hiding in Jomtien Soi 1–7 or nearby areas and could be receiving assistance.

Police have warned the public that anyone who shelters, conceals or assists the suspect will face prosecution under Section 189 of the Thai Criminal Code. The law states that anyone who helps a person who has committed, or is suspected of committing, a serious criminal offence to evade arrest or punishment may face up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to 40,000 baht, or both.

Authorities described the case as serious due to the alleged planning, use of violence and the potential link to transnational criminal activity. Senior officers have ordered an intensified manhunt and an expanded investigation to identify any accomplices or individuals who may have provided assistance.

Police reiterated their appeal for public cooperation, stressing that there would be no exemptions for those violating the law. Officials confirmed that all credible leads would be investigated and urged residents to report suspicious activity immediately.
