DTV visa requirements

Featured Replies

This visa looks very nice. I would do 180 days each year.

BUt the requirements are strange.

  • Financial: Proof of funds (e.g., 500,000 Baht) for 3-6 months.

  • Remote Work: Employment contracts, freelance proof, LinkedIn, company details (for non-Thai clients).

Proof of funds?? Can it be stocks, because i dont have 500000 bht in bank at all. I mean who has that because of high inflation.

Remote work, I am a freelancer for 20 years now...I have been one of first people freelancing over internet and living in Thailand 20 years ago.

DId somebody get DTV visa without having money in Bank accountS? Also do you need to have 500000 bht in thai bank account or in european bank account?

Also I have money in crypto accounts. can i show that, because i have enought that way.???

No, it cannot be stocks or crypto. It has to be money in the bank. You need to prove that you can take care of yourself and account for any emergencies that may happen while you are in Thailand. And it wouldn't make sense in the least for the money to be in a Thai bank account. This is a visa from embassies that are not in Thailand. They do not require Thai bank accounts. If you cannot meet that requirement, then this visa is not for you.

Plenty of freelancers have qualified, though what qualifies will depend on the embassy you apply at. Every embassy sets their own requirements. Check your embassy's website.

I have a DTV under the "workcation" category that includes freelancers.

The requirements are very clearly laid out. The financial requirement is a balance of 500,000 Baht or equivalent depending where you are applying. They ask for 3 months' worth of bank statements but do not specifically state the money must be in for 3 months. If you do not provide that then initially they will "ask for further documents". At this point, you can upload other financial evidence and a covering letter explaining your financial situation. The visa application will be considered in a holistic fashion rather than a strict adherence to the letter of the law. So, if you can show 2 million Euros in an asset management portfolio, you will probably be accepted.

My opinion is that applications to embassies in your home country in the West presumably are treated more favourably than applications to embassies in neighbouring South East Asian countries like Laos.

Do not be put off by the appearance of the requirements.
