Imo the rhetoric and actions coming out of the White House over the past year has a lot to do with it.

Trump has the support of the southwest states, like Kentucky and Mississippi, to acquire Greenland.

It was indeed until, that is, Gadhafi began to gain control, and to establish business contacts in the USA and Europe. It remains a mystery as to why Obama went along with this invasion of a sovereign country.
