Youth dressed in streetwear, often referred to as "young stunna," have been reassured by police that they will not face detention solely because of their attire while walking around Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig. This assurance follows concerns that wearing this viral fashion trend hindered entry to BGC, where videos of some teenagers causing disturbances recently circulated on social media. The police clarified that unless there are illegal activities involved, no arrests will be made for clothing choices.

The Taguig police's sub-station 1, under Capt. Jerson Castillo, which covers Fort Bonifacio, did not confirm if there were any formal complaints submitted about the teenagers. Castillo mentioned that any preventive measures were likely being taken by BGC due to the incidents gaining attention online. Since BGC is a privately managed area by Fort Bonifacio Development Corp., the police stated they were mainly there to offer assistance.

Capt. Castillo emphasized that police do not influence the regulations of BGC, highlighting their role as supportive rather than regulatory. He reassured that as long as no illegal actions are involved, teenagers in streetwear are free to wander the area without fear of arrest. The STAR sought clarification from BGC’s administrative office regarding their stance on the "young stunna," but has yet to receive a response, reported Philstar.

Key Takeaways

  • Police affirm no detentions for attire, focusing only on illegal activities.

  • BGC’s private management may impose its own preventive measures.

  • No formal complaints about teenagers have been confirmed by local police.
