Bangkok police have rescued a 12-year-old girl after she went missing for four days, arresting a 26-year-old man accused of luring her through an online game and holding her in a condominium in Thung Khru district. The girl was found alive but exhausted during a raid on 29 January 2026, bringing an end to a 96-hour investigation that involved extensive CCTV analysis and multi-unit police operations.

The case began on the evening of 24 January 2026, when the P5 student failed to return home, prompting her family to immediately report her disappearance to Wat Phraya Krai police station. Officers noted an abrupt loss of contact between the girl and her family, raising concerns of foul play. Initial searches of her neighbourhood and school yielded no results, and early leads went cold within the first day.

As the search continued into its third day, the case gained public attention on social media, while police escalated the investigation under orders from Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom. Surveillance footage near the girl’s home eventually revealed a key clue: a motorcycle carrying three people, with the girl seated between two men, travelling more than 15 kilometres from her residence. Investigators linked one suspect to online contact with the girl through the mobile game Free Fire.

In the early hours of 29 January at about 1.30am, police spotted a man wearing distinctive shoes previously seen in CCTV footage entering a condominium in Bang Mod. Officers raided a room on the 11th floor, finding the girl hiding under a blanket and the suspect, identified as Mr Naraphat, also known as “Keng”, aged 26, inside. Her mobile phone was recovered from the suspect’s bag.

Mr Naraphat was arrested and charged with unlawfully taking a child under 15 away from her guardians for indecent purposes. Police said further charges, including sexual offences, remain under consideration pending forensic evidence and expanded questioning. During initial interrogation, the suspect claimed he did not know the girl’s age, denied any sexual assault and said they had only played games together, stating the phone was switched off because the battery had run out.

Matichon reported that deputy Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Maj Gen Thiradej Thamsuthir said the suspect exploited the child’s innocence through online interaction and psychological manipulation. Police have reiterated warnings to parents and children that online games and social platforms can be used by offenders to gain trust. The suspect has been transferred to Wat Phraya Krai police station for further legal proceedings.
