Police in Samut Prakan have launched an urgent manhunt for a suspect who fatally stabbed an immigration police officer before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle on Sunday, 1 February 2026. The incident occurred near a U-turn close to the Green Line BTS Chang Erawan Station in Pak Nam Subdistrict, Mueang District, sending shockwaves through local law enforcement.

Officers from Mueang Samut Prakan Police Station were alerted to an assault resulting in serious injury and coordinated with investigators, emergency medical personnel from Samut Prakan Hospital and municipal rescue teams. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the officer later died from his injuries, prompting a full-scale investigation.

The victim was identified as Police Lance Corporal Sutthiwut Horklang, a squad leader with the Immigration Police from Udon Thani Province. He was found lying motionless on the roadway with a stab wound to the right side of his torso, while his grey Honda Civic sedan with Bangkok licence plates was discovered nearby with the driver’s door open.

Rescue workers attempted CPR and administered cardiac stimulation medication before rushing him to Samut Prakan Hospital, where his death was confirmed. Police said the suspect acted alone and escaped before officers arrived at the scene.

According to bystander who witnessed the incident and tried to intervene, the confrontation followed a near collision. The witness told police the victim had been driving towards Samrong while the suspect was attempting a U-turn, nearly causing a crash that led to an argument.

The witness stated that the victim appeared intoxicated, exited his car to apologise and initially exchanged punches with the suspect, who was holding a knife. The suspect then stabbed the officer and fled on a black-and-red Honda Wave 110 motorcycle, with the licence plate unknown, heading towards the Bang Duan area. Another witness gave a similar account, saying the victim had been swerving almost hitting a bridge pillar before the near collision.

Khaosod reported that detectives from Mueang Samut Prakan Police Station are continuing their investigation by examining the scene, questioning witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage along the suspected escape route. Police have stated that efforts are focused on identifying and locating the suspect for questioning and legal proceedings.

Reminds me of a when a Martial Arts expert was asked how to defend against an attacker with a knife. He stated run, and run fast.

He stated while it is possible to defend against someone with a knife the amount of experience, training, quickness, and recent practice required means very few people had a chance of Not getting stabbed and possibly suffering a serious injury.

RIP Lance Corporal Sutthiwut Horklang

Most Immigration officers I know are good people doing a thankless job. Having witnessed the amount of garbage they dealt with by foreigners on the daily surprised they don't need therapist.
