hey everyone its that time of the year again, and My first time going to Laos, just have a few noob questions to ask:

#1 I want to fly, whats the cheapest airline for a roundtrip ticket?

#2 Any Scam's I have to watch out for? (Current status of the country, and peolpe who recenty came back from Laos plz)

#3 If I apply for a visa, what time does the Thai embassy open and close?

#4 How long does it take for me to get a tourist visa? (Cambodia took 3 days...... singapore was next day^^)

#5 About how much do you think I will need for my stay? (Jack golf's quoting 6,600 Baht for their run's)

#6 What would be the single best currency to bring for everything? Baht, Kip, Dollars? (food,hotel,visa fee's ext)

#1 Lao Airlines and Thai Airways both fly the BKK-VTE route. But that will not be cheap. Nok Air and Air Asia fly into Udon Thani (1500 baht one way), from there it's an hour to the border (150 baht) and 30 minutes into Vientiane.

#2 Negotiate taxi fare in Vientiane (there are tuk tuk, or jumbo's but they try to overcharge, 100 baht would be more then sufficient to get to the embassy) Pay for Visa in USD to get the best rate. Paying in Baht will cost more.

#4 submit on day one, get passport back on day two.

#5 Around 3000 baht for the airfare, around 500 for taxis, one overnight can be as low as 500 baht. Visa is depending on nationality, but around 1500 baht.

#6 Bring USD or Baht exchange for KIP to pay for small things, pay hotel, and visa in baht. Pay visa in USD.

Edit, pay for Lao visa in USD, thai visa in Baht.
