Moscow on lockdown following a massive drone attack

Moscow has experienced the largest drone assault the city has faced in 2026, with attacks continuing for over 24 hours, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

Multiple airports in and around the capital have been closed as a precaution due to concerns that further strikes could disrupt both civilian and military operations.

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that four drones were shot down; however, the strikes have already caused flight disruptions and chaos throughout the capital.

Debris “hit the Novoye Vnukovo residential complex in Kokoshkino” as air defence operations are underway in the Moscow region, a user on X wrote.
