Vietnamese Workers Hit by Waves in Japan: 1 Dead, 3 Missing

A tragic sea accident in Japan's Fukui prefecture on March 21 involving eight Vietnamese workers has resulted in one death, three missing individuals, one injured, and three rescued unharmed. The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan is actively coordinating with local authorities for search and rescue efforts. Immediate aid and protection measures are being provided to the victims by the embassy.

The incident occurred at approximately 2 am local time on Saturday, as powerful waves swept individuals into the sea near the Mikuni lighthouse. Japan's Fukui Coast Guard promptly launched vessels and helicopters to the scene to assist in the rescue operations. There is ongoing collaboration between Japanese and Vietnamese officials to expedite the process of locating the missing workers.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working closely with both domestic and Japanese agencies to verify identities, assist the injured, and communicate with families of those affected, ensuring prompt funeral arrangements as required. Meanwhile, authorities continue their efforts to rescue the three missing workers.

As a preventive measure, the Vietnamese Embassy has advised its citizens in Japan to avoid going to sea during adverse weather conditions, particularly at night, to minimize the risk of similar accidents. Warnings extend to avoiding areas marked by high waves and dangerous terrains, reported Vietnam News.
