When the Iran War Ends What Would Constitute Victory for the US?

Featured Replies

Would only the unconditional surrender of the Iranian government qualify?

Would survival of the government but surrender of their nuclear stockpile qualify?

Would guarantees of freedom for the Iranian people along with the survival of the government qualify?

Would freedom for the iranian people and surrender of the nuclear stockpile qualify?

Would surivival of the government, no nuclear stockpile and cessation of support for allies outside the country qualify?

Obviously, there are other possible combinations

I'm asking because I can recall the extravagant claims made by Trump supporters for the campaign against Venezuela: surrender or overthrow of the government, democracy for its people, elimination of the government sponsored drug cartel, and, of course US access to oil. The last item is the only thing that the US secured but supporters celebrated that as a victory. So would a similarly limited concession from the Iranians also qualify as a victory.

I suspect that supporters of the Iranian "excursion" won't want to commit themselves out of fear of having their understanding of what constitutes victory undermined by Trump once again. And once again having to pivot in support.

There will be no victory. They engaged in an unprovoked war of aggression and have retaliated in kind. What they want and what they'll get are miles apart. What they really want is to overthrow the Iranian government, install Reza Pahlavi as the leader, and steal the Iranian oil for the US, and control that oil to keep it from the America's so-called enemies, i.e., China. That's reality without all of the anti-Iranian sugar-coated propaganda. Russia and China will not allow that to happen as they have too much at stake. So this will just drag out in a strike/counter-strike escalation for weeks, months, or years. I guess the US/Israel can nuke Iran, but then nobody gets the oil or the use of the now irradiated Persian Gulf. The longer this lasts the more infrastructure in Iran, the GCC, and Israel will be destroyed. If it lasts long enough, it will probably go from a regional to a world war.

So at the end of the day, it doesn't matter want the US "wants." The US is empire in decline and it's primacy is coming to an end as the world opts for multi-polar economic interactions without the US constantly trying to **** it up for the rest of the world. All the US does is destroy, destroy, destroy. They want everything for themselves and if they can't have it - they'll blow up the world. That's just gotta end.

You're fired!

Iranian military spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaghari delivered a message direct to Donald Trump during a recent Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps operational update, telling the US president “you’re fired”.

“Hey Trump - you’re fired. You’re familiar with this sentence,” said Zolfaghari at the end of an address circulated by Iranian state media on Sunday (22 March), before signing off:

“Thank you for your attention to this matter. The Central Headquarters of Khatam al-Anbiya,” - a nod to Trump’s traditional social media valediction.

Iran’s foreign ministry have rubbished Trump’s claim his administration is engaged in “productive” talks to end the war in Iran on Monday, suggesting the president is only trying to reassure inflamed energy markets and buy time for his military plans.
