They kept the communication channels open. There is an underlying desire to make the situation far more hopeless and dire than it is. It is a reflection of western arrogance. The Arabs and their regional neighbors have been involved in this issue since the start of the open conflict. If there is a solution, they will come up with it. One thing is certain, The Europeans and the UK have little influence and are are not involved in resolving this matter.
