Trespassing: Foreign Couple Uses Phuket Restaurant for Pool, Cannabis

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

A controversial incident unfolded in Phuket's Rawai area as a restaurant owner reported a foreign couple to the police after they entered her property without permission. The couple allegedly used the restaurant's swimming pool and consumed cannabis on-site. The owner, from Grills Nai-Harn, shared a video online, showing an employee confronting the couple, who were eventually asked to leave.

The sequence of events began when the couple first visited the establishment with a mat and were seen using cannabis. They returned days later, swimming in the pool as though it was their own. Footage of the incident was captured and shared, with the restaurant owner seeking help to identify the pair, speculating they might be staying in the nearby Soi Naya area.

When confronted, the man attempted to downplay the situation by saying “sabai sabai” in Thai, but the employee insisted on the seriousness of the trespass. The couple apologized and agreed to leave, but later, more CCTV footage emerged, showing the couple's alleged drug use and unauthorized swimming. The Phuket Times reported that the couple, having no fixed accommodation, often slept in public spaces.

Local reports claimed the duo had been causing disturbances, including public arguments and harassment. These incidents have drawn considerable attention, with multiple Thai news outlets sharing the story. Following the confrontation, the restaurant owner confirmed that she had lodged a police report to address the issue formally.

Looking ahead, local authorities may investigate the couple's activities in the area and their impact on the community. The incident underscores broader concerns about tourist behavior and substance use in popular destinations like Phuket, reported The Thaiger.

They are totally off their heads... Time to go home to sort themselves out?

  • Popular Post

Don't see it as that big a deal.

Should have just asked them to buy a meal or drinks then everything would have been OK.

Maybe true, maybe an exaggeration, but by the look of them, it's time to go home.

Return when they can behave more respectfully.

To be fair, it is a very nice pool.

Swimming pools and Restaurants - are restaurants built/remodeled to include a swimming pool, or maybe it was a different business/etc, and the pool was already on the property??

One of my fav restuarnts in Khon Kaen has a pool, but no one swims, and the staff said it's not for swimming.

This kind of behaviour is embarrassing. It doesn’t just make tourists look bad, it reflects on every foreigner living here.

In threads of years past - (some) forum members have boasted about using pools in hotels at which they are not residents..... "just act like you are staying there" type of approach.

This would appear to be the same thing....

Not a big deal, as in not a major crime - but still a big pish take...

Really?

You think this is a big story?

In other news, 20+ Pub fights, lady boys on the rob, and 30000 bar bills, but you think this is the story that will rock the nation?

Airheads swim!

Tomorrows chip papers, is all

The antics of this couple have been all over social media in recent days, trespassing in several other properties. Time for the police round them up and deport them.

I must admit that I have brought my bathing suit to many 5-star pools in BK. Always shower before using the pool.

However, I usually order an overpriced lunch at poolside ++ or at least a beverage ++, depending on the time of day. I think that's mutual respect, not causing any harm, not causing any ruckus or trouble for anyone, guests or staff. I think it's a win-win.

If poolside is packed with people, I either bow out or wait my turn. And I definitely don't bring a friend along! Some may remember Buddy Beer Bar on Khaosan. I think it was 50 baht to use the pool. Places could always adopt the pay-for-pool privilege, even user cards.

But I did not smoke herb or cigarettes! Perhaps this was an overreaction, perhaps not. Had to have been there.

How can everything be OK with low life parasites. As far as making a deal that they buy a meal or drink. Are you kidding me? Would you be that stupid to give them that, and once they have finished expect them to pay you?🤪

You would be singing a different tune if that were your property .... something that is obviously out of reach to you 😂

Customers get to use a resorts facilities, that's totally normal.

This isn't a private residence.

Let's have 15 day visas. More than enough time to be a holes.

It is perferctly normal to visit hotels with facilities to have food, drinks, and use their pool or pools, but I have always asked uppon arrival.

30 days is good, and less hassle when family and friends comes on visit, and they need help with all kind of bookings and visa if they make 15 days only.

It is private 🤡 you are allowed to use as a paying customer at the restaurant. 🙈

Hm. It's like I taught my kids, "If you have to ask, the answer is no." I prefer to stride in like I own the place!

One more time 🌞

most of the more established hotels with decent facilities open for paying customers who use their restaurant. Be it Hilton in Hua Hin, Chatrium i Bangkok, Grand Centara, and if high season, you ask first, or you actually have to go to reception to get access to the roof top via key card.

As a urban base jumper, I used to stride in like I owned the place, and it works, until they know you ;-)
