Two foreign nationals were arrested for performing dangerous wheelies on public roads in Phuket. The incident, which occurred on March 25, 2026, was captured by a local news page, prompting police action due to the risk posed to other road users.

Local authorities took swift action after images surfaced of the riders lifting their front wheels along Chao Fa West Road in Mueang Phuket district. Pol. Col. Surasak Jaidee ordered an immediate investigation, leading to the identification of the suspects within three hours by traffic police, coordinated by Pol. Lt. Col. Jakkrapong Phetcharat and Pol. Lt. Col. Siripong Suriyan.

The stunts reportedly took place at 10:27 near a Lotus’s supermarket. Witnesses saw one man repeatedly performing wheelies, alarming nearby motorists. Police identified the motorcycles involved — a red-blue Honda CRF 450R and a Yamaha MT-07 — and later found them outside a convenience store on the same road.

The riders were identified as Harry, a British citizen, and Brian, an Irish national. Both individuals failed to provide valid motorcycle driving licences or international permits. Confessing to the charges at Chalong Police Station, they now face legal action for reckless driving and driving without a licence. Their motorcycles have been confiscated, and they await prosecution, reported Khaosod.

let me guess, middleeast on overstay

Honestly, Thailand’s roads are already dangerous enough without foreign clowns making things worse.

Wheelies on Chao Fa West Road in Phuket? In traffic? It’s exactly this kind of idiotic behaviour that gives all foreigners a bad name.

Good on the police for acting quickly, the last thing anyone here needs is more reckless riders adding to an already high accident rate.

Put the crack pipe down

There is never anything about Thai's doing wheelies up and down Wichit road, Like the one last week just up from the seashell museum, I think he ended up dead, don't know what happened to the other one, from what I was told they were about 14 years old, They never learn,

I just read above that one was British, the other Irish. Perhaps you have a different article.

If only they showed the same enthusiasm in busting the other thousands of people breaking the rules on the road.

Or how about that guy getting jumped at the Patong ATM the other day? 🤫 🤷‍♂️

Read Again Please.

Good. I hope they start catching the ones in Pattaya as well, but even doing it in front of the little police box doesn’t cause any alarm from those inside.

It’s not clear from the article if they are long term residents on a visa or just tourists. If the bikes were hired from a shop, I hope an appropriate warning and heavy fine is dolled out for hiring to without checking for licences. Along with a large fine for the idiotic riders.

I thought those folks come here to Thailand in the Summer time. I guess we have to now deal with Morons earlier than expected.

Isn't it usual for tourists to ride motorcycles despite having no license? I thought that no-one cared.

I read a news item that last year, Vietnam has begun crushing bikes belonging to such offenders. If the bike was rented and no proof by the rental agent that they were licensed at the time of rental, also to the crusher. Apparently, as a result, it's become very difficult to rent a bike in Vietnam without the proper license.

I'd love to see that done here.

Inexperienced riders without licenses do not do wheelies in traffic. It takes practice to be that stupid.

You farangs on motorbikes, we will get you, especially in places like Patong in Phuket where we will stop you and fine you.

Now over the mountain in Kathu, Kathu we will let off hundreds of thousands, (about 50% of The motorcyclists I see on the road at any one time) who do not wear helmets, drive like mad, 13 year old looking kids zoom about all day long, after all you will be voting for the local MP and so we will let you do as you please, it is the farangs we are after, they do not have a vote.

You want to go through a red light, as long as you are a local then do as you please.

If you want to undertake a police car while not wearing a helmet , go ahead, fill your boots. 😀

I do laugh at how poorly the Thais drive and the near misses I see probably once a week while driving my car, that is where special preemptive , defence driving comes into play on my part.

Meanwhile on Viset Road, kids who are not old enough to hold drivers licences repeatedly do wheelies with 2 passengers on Honda Wave scooters continue so unabated.

And the next province over, Phang Nga. Go there and see how many riders wear helmets. lol. Outside of Phuket, Pattaya, Hua Hin and Bkk, driver licences are not the usual for Thais. Just the way it is.

I think it's school holidays at the moment, you will see them as young as 10 riding bikes,

Wrong!!! My Dad bought a Honda Cub when I was 16. My first day riding it I was doing wheelies. Yes, dumb but NO, it doesn't require practice. Just rev and pop the clutch.

Now hold it for 50 meters. Beginners avoid wheelies.

That road is already hugely dangerous without numbskulls doing wheelies.
