Hate to quote myself but this brand is Eli Lilly. Not from India

Eli Lilly & all the other Big Pharma brands manufacture in India.

Technically, yes, it is illegal to privately import medicines. But in practice & my own experience, I've never heard of any problem or confiscation.

My problem with India is that it's very hard to pay them so most suppliers rely on the Indian domestic market and don't ship overseas, e.g., Amazon India!

I just ordered a year of Liothyrone which is not sold here at all. Came from Turkey and I had to go to postal customs in Chaeng Wattana. B57.

Customs told me I should carry these in but I don't really leave to places where the meds I need are sold. They said their main interest was to make sure it wasn't drugs.

Of course, the Turkish end fudged to price. You should make sure your supplier is willing to do the same so you don't end up paying exorbitant Customs duties, VAT and tariffs, even from countries that don't tariff Thai goods!

I'd also check General Practice, Preventive Medicine or Urology at a big public hospital. Chances are the prices will be much the same without the hassle.

Or... you could invest 100 TBT and buy a pill splitter in any pharmacy.

Buying and shipping from Indian pharmacies is an attractive proposition because their medicines are very cheap , however it is also risky because 1/ the Thai customs do not allow medicines without an import licence normally and you are at risk of a fine for attempting to do so . The Indian pharmacies are only too happy to supply you and take your money but I have heard of cases where the package has not been delivered to Thailand despite the fact that you have paid up front which includes the shipping fee which can be $35 for the smallest package . I have also heard that some medicines are fake . Most medicines are available within Thailand . Just ask your pharmacist to look in his medical catalogue which is normally quite extensive at larger pharmacies . I have done this on a couple of occasions .

I hope your condition is not serious enough for a guillotine! Hehe

I haven't heard of any fake meds from India nor of any Customs fines. If you spin them a good story and stick ro it, they'll release the parcel at minimal cost.

Just make sure you can pay them! I also always push for lowering the label value and sending by ordinary airmail at the postal price. (All mail these days has a tracking number. Very rare for anything to get lost.)

What price do you pay for the airmail please because nearly all of the Indian suppliers quoted me on average $35 for shipping and there may be only 2-300 tablets . I was thinking that because the pills are so cheap they must be making their money on P&P .

I live up in the north east of Thailand and I suppose that customs are based in and around Bangkok which would be a 6 hour one way trip for me . Do the customs always inspect and hold back your items ?

Update: I ordered quite a lot of Vidalista 5mg tadalafil and another drug which is prescription only from Beyond Care on Indiamart. They shipped via India Post and declared it as health supplements with a value of $5. Yesterday I got a note from Thai Post informing me it was being held by Thai Customs and to come to Laksi to pick it up. I prepared a letter in Thai explaining what each drug was for and that it was for personal consumption only and I screenshot the receipt from Beyond Care which showed the drugs and shipping charge total at $92.

The very nice customs officer spent some time reviewing everything and double checking. He then informed that although the quantity was high, he believed they were for personal use only and would only charge me the 7% tarrif on the $92. He could not have been nicer about it.

That said, I clearly just got lucky and won't be trying it again.
