True, although many things people suffer from aren't apparent, especially right off. Immigration is a slow enough process, especially at peak times, and they must get tired going through all the documents. Adding checking for things would take a lot more time, and many people can BS their way through things, especially mental illnesses and depression.

Some of the worst criminals are smart and have money, so they can fool many, while some slow and uneducated might be the safest people coming in. True also on people coming over for a beer and complaining about things you already know full well about. All you can do is let them know that way, hoping they don't keep going on and on. Communication is great as long as it's not all one sided. This is the major complaint women have about men. "He never talks, or listens".

Most in Thailand and other tropical areas use tile or wood, being much easier to maintain in the humid climes, along with the ones near beach areas, sand not being good for carpeting. Some of the 5 stars do have carpeting but most of the others won't. This is also happening in other areas because of the ease of maintenance.
