I don't think Greenlanders see it that way.

The only difference between Vietnam and Iran is that Trump knew how to get out of Vietnam!

Then a lot of countries that might not hold back will annihilate a lot of Iran, along with the shelling the US and Israel is already giving them. They can't last forever and will run out of ammo eventually. A mistake by any country is targeting anything civilians need. That's how you really make enemies.

Isn't that what Israel and the US are doing? Have you forgotten the schoolkids already?

What is your evidence Iran will run out of ammo? Aren't Russia and North Korea supplying armaments?

Iran would probably be a peaceful country, but for the CIA engineering a coup to replace Mossadeq.

The capacity of Americans to delude themselves into thinking they are the good guys is infinite.

I don't forget anything. An accidental strike because of faulty information happens in all wars, and it's not an excuse.

Everyone runs out of ammo eventually, especially if their stocks are being bombed to oblivion. Some can be replaced by production, but the faster you take the supply away, the more radical the attempts to re-supply, which can't be kept up forever without backing. How would one know that Russia and Korea are re-supplying them? How are they getting those weapons to Iran? Can't believe all that's said on TV. The thing isn't just the stocks but the mental pressure bombing puts on those bombed.

Fear of death gets to everyone not suicidal, even those that think they'll get many virgins when they die.

Iran will be peaceful, when they rid itself of maniacal rulers.

Helping other countries is always a good thing, as long as you don't take it too far, and for the right reasons, and America did make some mistakes trying to help.

It's a war type conflict. Of course the other side will knock down a few planes, helis and hit some ships. Look at the damage Iran's military is taking by comparison.

I am afraid you don't understand. The Chinese are resupplying Iran.

Every ship that can still move through the Strait of Hormuz does so with Iranian permission. They have to hug the coast of Iran. All the way up the Persian Gulf to Hormozgan. The IRGC checks their affiliation with nations deemed non- hostile.

They then pay bribes of around $2 million to get back out. It's 6- 11 ships per day. The IRGC won't accept dollars, it's yuan or crypto.

China has the same vested interest in bleeding America as the EU does in bleeding Russia. Ships entering from China have cargoes of drone and missile parts. It's logical, weapons for oil.

The icing on the cake is the fact the IRGC is getting income at 3-4 times they were before the war started.

Thanks to the White House dumb@ss, the most powerful military in the world is powerless. If they interdict the Iranian-approved ships, not even a rowing boat will be leaving the Strait of Hormuz.

There were probably experienced professionals in US intelligence who could predict this scenario. Apparently they have all been fired.

When will Americans realize Trump is the most damaging and damaged President in US history?

So you do believe all you hear on newscasts. Or maybe you have inside information from some Iranian or live on the shores of Hormuz? Funny how even the US doesn't know all who's using the strait and what are on the boats that do get by, but they do have many ways to monitor them. China and Russia do supply electronics, sensors and technology to Iran through supply chains, but as far as weapons you certainly don't know.

Andrew Neil qouting impecaable sources close to Trump declares the war lost for America. The Sparta of ethno-facist Israel may think they have some sort of Ameleckian win but Iran with it's backers China and russia will emerge triumphant, defiant and unbowed. The paper eagle and the orange clown have no clothes. Sorry about that. We are on the brink of an epic milestone that highlights the continuing fall of Pax Amerciana and the end of empire. Every dog has it's day and with missiles raining down on Tel Aviv and Israel almost daily, the sanctity and purity of the Jewish homeland has finally been broken like never before. Probably better that they start the slow and necessary journey of diplomacy rather than running to daddy every time they feel under threat.

ANDREW NEIL: My source near Trump told me the truth about...

If, before April is out, Trump declares victory and walks away with anything like the current state of play prevailing, then Trump's War on Iran will prove to be catastrophic.

Now you will understand why there are wry smiles emanating from Moscow and Beijing. Not only have they watched their Iranian allies survive all America and Israel have had to throw at them, they can enjoy the spectacle of Trump ripping apart the greatest alliance for democracy the world has ever seen. Christmas really has come very early this year for our totalitarian adversaries.

Of course, as is always the case with Trump, we don’t know what he’ll do in the few weeks he says are left of the war. But a source very close to him told me this week that the truth is ‘he doesn’t know what to do’ – that neither slinking away under cover of claiming bogus victory nor doubling down with land incursions (‘boots on the ground’) were appealing.

They were already in the stone age.

They might rebuild with some high-tech and modernity.

During the Stone Age, Iran was:

  • A migration corridor for early humans

  • A major centre of early farming

  • One of the first places to domesticate animals

  • A region where pottery, villages, and copper technology developed early

  • A contributor to the rise of early Middle Eastern civilisation

It was one of the engines of early human progress.

Today, Iran is a perfect example of how radical religious zealots can undo all the progress of the past.

Iran has a bank account in China that gets filled with Yuan when oil orders are fulfilled. They can use that to buy any chemcials and tech they need. China and Russia have had a front seat row at the US war machine - that's priceless. Archive.ph seems to be down at the moment.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2026/04/03/china-delivers-missile-fuel-chemicals-to-iran/

But it is a delicate balancing act for China, given that Iran is attacking the wider Middle East, particularly in the Gulf, where Beijing has invested heavily in infrastructure projects.

Experts say China could go even further, potentially allowing land shipments through Pakistan – a country that has acquired nuclear weapons with the support of Beijing, and one that has become more adversarial to the US in recent years.

Western militaries, including the US, do not have enough physical maritime assets to seize tankers at the pace needed.

“We don’t have an effective mechanism to limit the flow of these raw materials, whether they are for weapons systems, energy, drug production,” said Mr Kardon. “That’s a real strategic problem, and China is a little brazen than even I might have expected.”

Agree....of any religion.

Slowly but surely the Truth not Trumps' Truth is coming out - Iran has thousands of blow up decoys as well. Fail to plan Trump plan to fail. They have been planning this for 47 years how to defend themsleves against the Great Satan. They have done well. Come on America invade take down these mad mullahs and show us who you are don't be half a man.

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/03/us/politics/iran-missiles-launchers.html

Precise assessments of Iran’s current capability have been unclear because Iran is deploying significant numbers of decoys, and the United States is not sure how many of the apparent launchers it has destroyed were real. While the U.S. has an estimate of Iranian missile launchers from before the war, that number was not precise. It has also been difficult to assess how many launchers may be in bunkers or caves struck by American or Israeli airstrikes.

And while the underground bunkers, caves or silos can appear at first to be damaged, in reality Iran has been able to quickly dig out the launchers and fire them again.

CNN earlier reported that Iran retains half of its missile launchers. Officials said that number falls within the range detailed in intelligence reports, but that the reports did not offer specific numbers of the remaining launchers.

Haaretz, the Israeli publication, reported earlier that Iran had used bulldozers to dig out missile launchers that had been buried, or “corked,” in underground bunkers.

That's the most tragic bit - men will be dead or have life changing injuries that will haunt them for the rest of their life and for nothing in the end whilst Trump and his cronies profit greatly from the chaos. They are beyond contempt.

The US has previous in hostage rescue in Iran - it didn't go well and destroyed Carter's Presdency - probably the most honourable and decent President that the US has ever had. Laurie Anderson wrote the classic song O'Superman. For those who are curious about what this song means is that the line, “Hello? This is your mother, Are you there? Are you coming home?” Is from a mother writing to her son in war and the line “Well you don't know me, but I know you” Is the Chief of her son's military team writing a letter back to the mom letting her know that her son has died due to not surviving the war.

Cause when love is gone, there's always justice.
And when justice is gone, there's always force.
And when force is gone, there's always Mom. Hi Mom!

So hold me, Mom, in your long arms. So hold me,
Mom, in your long arms.
In your automatic arms. Your electronic arms.
In your arms.
So hold me, Mom, in your long arms.
Your petrochemical arms. Your military arms.
In your electronic arms.

It was a win for the North Vietnamese!

They captured Saigon on April 30th 1975, resulting in a unified Vietnam under a communist government.

I can connect the dots. All you seem to be able to do is spout rah-rah BS how mighty America is.

If US surveillance is so good, how do Iran and the Houthis manage to rain missiles and drones anywhere they want? Haven't Trump and Hegseth said they have destroyed Iran's offensive capability? How has Iran managed to shoot down two attack aircraft?

Picking on someone like Nicaragua or Venezuala is easy stuff. Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, different story.

Now it's Iran. What's the betting Trump folds, and says he won? IIRC that's what happened in 2020.

I meant that in life terms, meaning all the loss on all sides. Yes, Vietnam is where they intended it to be, under communist rule. We won almost all the battles, but it wasn't going to change things anyway, so pulling out saved countless lives in Vietnam, along with more of our own. It was their home, and we didn't need to interfere.

I don't spill rah rah anything. This is what we are. If US surveillance wasn't good, how are they hitting thousands of targets? You think this type of conflict comes without loss on the US side? These aren't people who give up. even though they've been totally outgunned. If they have any ammo left, they'll try and use it until their leader says stop, and insanity doesn't know stop.

It doesn't really matter what happens next besides there being less terrorist leaders, and hopefully the Iran people take charge. This wasn't about changing their regime but eliminating as many maniacs as possible so the Iran citizens can have peace. You can't keep this up without hurting more civilians or their infrastructure, and returning the country to a peaceful one. World trade is best when all countries can do it and all win. Terrorism doesn't belong on earth and needs to be destroyed any way possible, without the loss of civilian lives if at all possible.

Patrick Coburn has long been a sage commentator on the Middle east with Robert Fisk sadly no longer with us he takes the crown.

Trump gambled on destroying Iran’s regime. Instead he gave it a new life

Starting a ground offensive would be the US President's riskiest move yet

https://inews.co.uk/opinion/trump-gambled-destroying-irans-regime-instead-new-life-4327475

Does he really believe that there is a new Iranian leadership eager for a ceasefire? Though depleted by the Israeli/US assassination campaign, the new Iranian security leaders appear more uncompromising than the old. The recently appointed national security adviser, the most powerful security official in Iran, replacing the assassinated Ali Larijani, is Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr. Such was his reputation for hawkishness within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that one of its former top commanders, Qassem Soleimani, himself assassinated in Iraq in 2020, once criticised Zolghadr as “too extreme”. Moreover, the Iranian security elite appear confident they have the upper hand in the war and, if they hold their nerve for a week longer than Trump, they will win.

Instead of ending a moribund Islamic Republic, much reviled by most of its own people, Trump’s high-stakes gamble on war has so far succeeded only in giving it fresh life.

The problem for Gulf rulers is that Israel does not care what it destroys in Iran – the more the better – and it equally does not care what Iranian retaliation against Gulf states is provoked by its actions. On the contrary, the degradation of Arab Gulf states as regional players is in Israel’s interests.

Israel is a terrorist state.

I can't tell if 250 year old USA can boast it will send Iran back to the stone age. As Persia is 2,500 years old, the odds are good that it will survive while the USA collapses.

Many of your posts contain the word hope or hopefully. You are forgetting these people have had more than 40 years of indoctrination that the US is the Great Satan, and Trump is proving it to them all over again.

Eliminating the Iranian leadership achieved nothing. It got the US a younger and perhaps even more fanatical bunch of terrorist to deal with.

You said world trade is best when everyone can do it and win.

Please tell me how Trump is helping towards that goal.
