Still no names or photos of this "Colonel" miraculously rescued. Anybody smelling an rat ? Had he been caught he would have been a MCainian loser - phew thank god that Trump saved him from that total ignominy. To those supporting and cheerleading for Trump you are either evil or stupid or maybe both.I'll take early onset dementia with a doctor's note I'm not heartless.

1. The Moment of Impact (October 26, 1967)

McCain was flying his 23rd mission over North Vietnam. He was piloting an A-4E Skyhawk over Hanoi when a Soviet-made surface-to-air missile (SAM) blew the right wing off his plane.

  • The Ejection: He ejected at such a high speed that the force broke both of his arms and his right leg.

  • The Landing: He parachuted into Trúc Bạch Lake in the middle of Hanoi. Because of his broken limbs and the weight of his gear (nearly 50 lbs), he began to sink immediately. He had to use his teeth to inflate his life vest.

2. The "Angry Mob" vs. The "Mountain Crevice"

While the 2026 report claims the Colonel hid in a "7,000-foot ridgeline" and directed strikes, McCain had zero cover.

  • The Capture: Vietnamese civilians pulled him from the lake. Once on shore, the "Salford-style" justice of a war-torn city took over.

  • The Injuries: The mob crushed his shoulder with a rifle butt and bayoneted him in the foot and groin. He was eventually pulled away by North Vietnamese soldiers and taken to the infamous "Hanoi Hilton" (Hỏa Lò Prison).

3. The "Special Treatment" (The Admiral's Son)

This is where the story parallels the 2026 Colonel. Just as the current pilot's name is being withheld (likely because of his high rank/intelligence value), the North Vietnamese realized who McCain was.

  • The Revelation: When they discovered his father was Admiral John S. McCain Jr. (Commander of all US forces in the Pacific), they stopped the beatings and offered him early release for "propaganda" purposes.

  • The Defiance: McCain refused. He followed the Code of Conduct ( POWs are released in the order they were captured. Because he stayed, he was tortured for another five years.

Israel have nuclear weapons, Iran want nuclear proliferation, and it's only fair they get them. Iran hasn't started a war for over 200 years

Unlike the US that sank an Iranian ship in international waters and did nothing to help the survivors Iran would have no doubt treated him with kindness and compassion something you trumpist zionusts have no comprehension of.

I don't know if you are attempting satire (you failed) or are trying to be provocative in a lame fashion, but Iran has an atrocious record regarding hostages and prisoners of war. The 66 U.S. diplomats and civilians taken after the storming of the U.S. Embassy in 1979 were treated very badly, with 52 enduring imprisonment under harsh conditions for 444 days. They were subjected to both psychological and physical torture.

Those U.S. citizens were totally innocent and yet were treated in violation of diplomatic norms that have been in place for a very long time. I shudder to think how the Iranians would have treated an Air Force officer shot down on a combat mission.

FYI, the IRIS Dena was sunk by a U.S. submarine in international waters off Sri Lanka. Submarines don't have the equipment or space needed for sea rescue, but the U.S. alerted the Sri Lankan Navy, which did undertake rescue operations.

I saw the colonel's name mentioned somewhere along with a comment from him. I'll see if I can find it.

Then again you may dismiss the source as unreliable. This tactic is often used by deniers.

Like New York New York you have evil twice in your name and an avatar that matches that. Israel is gagging to hang Palestinians angry at their land being nicked by some obese Brooklyn malcontent who thinks the Old Testament is a title deed because "if I don't steal it someone else will". And there's 3.5 million dead in SE Asia because you and your ilk failed to acknowledge national self-determination (calling Israel!) and packaged it as some democratic crusade. So forgive me if I don't shed a few crocidile tears for some US offcials who got their feelings hurt after stelaing their wealth for many decades. FAFO at it's best.

Pay a toll and doff a cap - it's not diffcult you don't need to become a muslamic or drop an atom bomb on Mecca. If you Trump turn Iran into a fialed state a rump IRCG will terrorise Hormuz from now to eternity they have nothing to lose and the US will have to have 100s of thousands of boots on the ground to stand a chance to revert that.It will be a rerun of Iraq but on streorids. Think carefully Trump on Tuedsay at 8pm. Oh f^ck it we're all fricked now. Chaos reigns.

https://archive.ph/ekfuM

The United States faces a difficult choice: either commit to a long-term effort to reassert control over the Strait of Hormuz, or accept a new global energy arrangement in which U.S. control is no longer assured.

If it chooses acceptance, the outcome is clear: The international system will reorganize with Iran as a fourth center of global power. Yet if the United States chooses to reassert military control, it is in for a long battle, one it could well lose.

The Iran war is not a military conflict from which the United States can simply back out, with things reverting to how they were before. Iran would surely demand a heavy price in a new accommodation with the United States — but this price will surely be less costly than that of the alternative future. This is a transformational war, and if these changes continue for even a few years, the global order will change irrevocably.

That would be a good outcome, but unfortunately the orange trumpstein idiot using his greatest intellect did nothing to address his problem and has made it worse, not only for Iran but the rest of the world.

trumpstein and his stupidity is no better the the islamist goverment of Iran.

Yes, his stupidity knows no bounds. At least he will eventually term out. Three more agonizing years unless he leaves us (hopefully) sooner.

The left seems giddy with hope that Iran will defeat the US.

Good for you, Pat. We all get our kicks where we can. When I was a kid, I lived for the Hotspur and Victor comics heroic pilots outwitting the 'Hun' or the 'Japs' against all odds. It’s classic stuff.

But then I grew up and looked at the invoice.

It’s a bit rich calling this a 'heroic result' when a multi-Million dollar 'stealth' jet gets downed by an Air Defense system that Trump’s own PR machine claimed was '100% destroyed' weeks ago. We’re trashing high-end kit and spending hundreds of millions just to retrieve one man who was sent to bomb civilian infrastructure.

While you're cheering for the rescue, don't forget the 'heroic' orders that pilot was following. Trump has already promised that Tuesday is 'Power Plant and Bridge Day.' If the plan is to throw 80 million people into darkness and starvation by trashing their water and electricity, then the 'beautiful superpower' isn't winning a war it’s conducting a massive, expensive experiment in human misery.

Enjoy the press conference. I’m sure the 'Greatest Showman' will make it sound like a Marvel movie, but some of us are watching the actual math of this 'illegal and unprovoked' mess.

Wow a total number of 130 Aircraft and a thousand personel to save 1 man. The SAS would have been in with a 12 man team 2 choppers hovering over the mountain hideout quick rope Egress in and out in 20 mins job done.

Your marines wouldnt even pass the selection process yellowtail to tough for you Yanks. I can remember a few years ago the French Foreighn legion devised a 2 day assault course in the jungle's of French Guyana. They invited most special forces to take part in it. The SAS came in first behind the foreign leginaires on the 4th day a team was sent into the jungle to locate the Yank team that got lost.

You see if you think bombing bombing bombing is a solution to everything like a butcher's cleaver don't be surprsied when the patient dies because you needed a surgeon's knife. That and the fact the militray indutsrail complex is screwing the Amercian taxpayer with eye watering costs where Iran is making damn good tech for probably cents on the dollar. That and an unshakeable beleif that martydom is a fast track to heaven. As they say in Platoon "if you ask me we're killing the wrong gooks".

Trump has no idea as to what he has unleashed he and we are about to find out.

You won't like this Yellow tail watch a 2nd Para SAS dismantle a yank Recon marine.

You missed my preface that established the context. Iran is Clint Trump is the punk.

Why do the US lose so many wars despite having the world's largest and best equpped military bar none ? There's something pretty rotten in that dynamic.

You're right, I have no interest is watching half naked men, you go ahead on brother.

As I have said on the site any number of times, the UK was the greatest force for good in the history of the world.

You've gone from Churchill to Starmer, you must be proud.

Do you think Iran should be allowed to further develop their intercontinental ballistic missiles and nuclear warhead programs or not?

The C130's used in the expedition would not be run of the mill C130's. They were almost certainly special ops C130's, equipped to the gills with state of the art technology. Probably why they were destroyed rather than have the equipment fall into Iranian, Russian, or Chinese hands.

2 would be a loss of $400 million.

Why?seems to me that type of bird would orbit overhead and the c130s would be used to deploy troops and equipment…..anyway I for one am delighted we got ours back and didn’t lose anyone in the process.

You may be right. However, there is footage of a destroyed large aircraft on the ground. Whether it was specially equipped is not known.

The Captain Oates sacrifice has long since gone - an honourable man would have made one last call said his goodbyes and prayers if necessary and then done the decent thing to save others risking their lives to save him.

Barely. Millions of people die every day around the world, so one US service man is not that big a deal. The biggest aspect of the story is whether or not it's even true. It would have been incredibly difficult for the US to have rescued a downed serviceman in Iranian territory. So the rescue was likely total fiction. And it's coming from sources that just can't be trusted. It is about as credible as the assassination attempt. And the miraculously healed ear.
