Thais only do this in homes (or hotel rooms) where a farang is paying the electric bill.

Not where I am.

Many of them grew up dirt poor with only a dodgy fan at best. So now they want to milk the foreigner's AC for all it’s worth. Plus, the AC on 20 is possibly the closest many of them will ever come to

From a health perspective it is never smart to begin with to have a AC difference of more than 5-7 celcius over the real temperature too.

This statement of yours certainly requires substantiation and support.

What evidence, if any, do you have to support your claim?

If the outside temperature is 70-degrees C.

Then, you would be OK with an indoor temperature of 65-degrees C?

Please NEVER, again, make such BLANKET Statemets, here on TV.

(Also, nothing wrong with using heavy blankets during the Hot Season, in Thailand.)

Yep, 27° is the ideal temp for me, usually turn it off around 4 or 5 am and open the fan.

How does one "open" the fan? Do you mean turn on?

Is this just a bargirl thing or are they all the same.?

Have the aircon blasting away while totally ensconced in a thick duvet.

Irritates me anyway.

Any Hotel in Bkk is the same. Blanket suitable for the Alaskan tundra, and AC on full, all the while having cards on the glass in the toilet telling you to save energy and re-use your towels. I started requesting an extra sheet on check-in, and ditching the duvet. Turning the AC to not freezing.

Yeah turn on, reverted to my wife’s English for a moment there 🙄

Inaccurate, snarky mouthed individual.

Inaccurate? Bargirls are prostitutes. You are the one starting a topic about a bargirl using a duvet. Was it intended as humour, the type that appeals to the elderly western white male 75 and older crowd? If so, it needs work.

If it was serious, who do you think is an expert on the sleeping habits of poxy prostitutes other than the people who hire prostitutes because they can't attract normal women?

And as for snarky, you are the one broadcasting your knowledge of sleeping bar girls. It's creepy and suggests something untoward.

Why is it stupid? Just because you don´t think the same?

Some people like to have something over them when sleeping. It may be because they are cold or that they just feel comfortable with the weight, or that it´s just something they always done and are used to sleeping with.

Read it again, i said duvet cover only works well, I didn't say use nothing, try it, or maybe you have?

You are the one who said I had a common prostitute in my bed and suggested that my family members would know all about that sort of thing. The first is totally inaccurate and the second totally inaccurate and grossly offensive. You enjoy telling lies.? Up to you.

As everyone should have realized by now:

The manufacturers of AC-remotes would NOT have included the setting 16-Degrees C if they had not expected us to use this setting.

Also, one duvet is not adequate during the Hot Season, if the bedroom is between 16 and 18 degrees.

I use one wool blanket, and one duvet.

The duvets sold in Thailand are not really warm enough for me.

Also one does not need a bar girl to set the AC at 16 degrees.

And I am totally the opposite to you, in most things I hope. My wife and I have separate bedrooms, partly because she watches different telly than me, she likes thew curtain fully closed (at night, when it is dark) whereas I like to see the sunrise, but mostly SHE wants the aircon on at 24 from late afternoon to mornings, where mine goes on at 7 - 9 pm, no duvet or blanket, just me skivvies. Her daughter is the same. They turn it on for 6 year old Grandson, but I try to encourage them not to unless it is VERY warm in his room. We all have ceiling fans and floor ones

The other thing is these guys often marry a sex worker but weirdly look down on those charging ST and LT

I am sorry to hear that you two lovebirds are so incompatible.

Also, what are skivvies, some Norweigian costume?

No need to explain.

How would you know about bargirls sleeping with a duvet if you were not watching one? Are watching the activities of others and see this going on, you know like a voyeur? I doubt this is a topic for a formal education seminar or course of study. Is it a fantasy? Please do educate me: How is it that you have come to know about the sleeping habits of prostitutes and why is there a need to solicit the commentary of others on the sleeping method of prostitutes? I do not understand. Thank you.

How would I know, long story going back decades and something that always intrigued me.

And I shall take my time to reply to a nutter like you. To tell you that my Mrs and I are very happy together, we still, make love and watch TV together regularly.

As for your question about skivvies, where are you from? It is an informal American word for the underwear, usually matching T-shirt (or vest in proper English) and underpants, briefs or boxers, commonly use in the military. Have you ever been to Norway?

In my part of Northern England, you know close to Manchester City, a skivvy is a, usually female, house cleaner.

Thai bashing racist comment.

There is also a scientific reality - a better nights sleep is had at a cooler temp - 18.3 deg C is the ideal setting.

https://www.sleepfoundation.org/bedroom-environment/best-temperature-for-sleep

Most adults sleep best around 16–19°C. Cool air helps sleep, and for many, a blanket adds comfort. That is basic sleep science. As for those obsessing over electricity bills or inventing motives and morals for the girls, that says more about them than the girls.

Remember that a feather duvet quilt will attract all the dust mites and bed bugs. Get all the quilts you want. But use those with synthetic filling and not feathers as they are nest to dust mites and bedbugs.

I would use Turn or Switch ON/OFF instead of Power OFF, CUT, OUTAGE or other such phrase.

Cos I speak English not American.

22 is definitely too cold for me too. In any case, a humidifier makes all the difference to compensate the air dryness. Game changer.

Most ACs have DEHUMIDIFIER settings, not as you say HUMIDIFIER, which can make the room more comfortable than very cold.

I like the weight of the duvet... they now do someo sort of Bamboo material duvet that adds weight.

But, I also need the warmth of the duvet because the Wife has the AC on -20... or it feels like that.

I like 24-25 deg setting - she likes 22 deg which I find is too cold... Wife wins.

It always struck me as strange how cold Thai's like it in the Cinema - I long ago learned to take a jumper when watching a move in Thailand.

I set my aircon at 28 C. My GF still uses a thick blanket at night.

From what I am seeing on this thread, some posters need to grow a pair.

In my part of Northern England, you know close to Manchester City, a skivvy is a, usually female, house cleaner.

The only thing I know about Manchester is that they pronounce English in the most abominable way.

Nobody here in Thailand can understand them.

The Manchester pronunciation, even the guys from that place, will tell you...is a complete joke.

When the guys from Manchester open their mouths, all in the room begin rolling on the floor.

Go ahead: Just ask almost ANYONE from Manchester. They don't try to hide the fact.

I mean....how COULD they hide the fact, even if they wished to do so???

I have heard people menion skivvies.

But only in very old Black&White movies.

The term must be at least 100 years old.

Nobody uses this term, anymore.

What is wrong with the term, underwear.

Is this word not good enough for most people?

They even have a name for it: Mancunian, ....

Which always reminds me of the Mancunian Candidate.

But, worse.

I get so many Thumbs Down, you would not believe.

I think it is not Americans who use the Thumbs Down.

I would say it must be Thumbs-Down-Under thumbs.

I mean a standalone humidifer in the room to compensate the dryness caused by the AC.

I have no time.

As I have been trying to say, for some time, time is now limited; I am frightened to say.

Better to just turn the AC down to 16 degrees, and then pile on a few Duvets, and hide.

If the Smoke does not get you, then the heat will.

If the Smoke and Heat do not get you, then the fallout might.

And, as I have already clearly stated...

Any nuclear exchange of slight significance, just might easily destroy atmospheric ozone.

Without ozone, we will all get a deep tan, and have zero to eat.

So, best to go into hiding.

Read a good book about the pre-nuclear age.

And count yourself lucky to still be alive.

I know what you meant.

However, this uncomfortably low humidity only happens in the Cold Season.

Normally, the humidity will not go lower than about 50 percent, no matter what you do.

40-percent humidity is extremely comfortable, as we all know well.

I hope that pun was intended - though, I do agree, sweeping generalisations never 'cover' the subject accurately.

To me, it seems silly cool or dehumidify a room with an AC, then put water back with an Humidifier.
