I was listening to the ABC Radio last night whilst mopping the stairway ,

For those who are not academic, the ABC is I guess equivalent to the BBC , only the ABC is very left wing opinionated

I am quite fascinated by the City of Glasgow in Scotland

I was quite sad listening to the way some people are treating the refugees who go there for a better life

Although one group has started a charity to help these poor people

My question to you are you personally against immigration to your country

I found it sad and difficult to watch all those poor refugees being stopped at that wall in the USA

Are the left wing correct when they say the "racists" anti immigration are actually in the minority but just shout the loudest ?

In fact there is many in the UK who want immigration they want more refugees, and these are English people who have lived generations there

I did recently watch a current affairs show where a man who was a member of the pro immigration group became a hypocrite when his country village was marked for development and tear down the old houses for factories and he started complaining, however hypocrites are everywhere!

.the UK people need to get with the times , build more factories ,more apartments etc , there is plenty of land to build

I personally believe that the UK government will be re elected , yes , I believe so , despite the loud mouths against the beautiful UK PM Kyle Starmer who lives helping people

not a single baht to any foreigner until said foreigner has proved he is a contributer rather than a leach on society,

by first paying tax 5 years before becoming eliglible for citizenship and then subsidized healthcare, rent support etc.

thais dont resent foreigners for the specific reason we are not a burden, but an income.

westerners resent immigrants for the specific reason they almost invariably are a burden from day 1.

It's a very delicate topic and a very hot topic and one that people tend to oversimplify. American needs its immigrants there are so many jobs that Americans are unwilling to do that immigrants are needed for. Unless you're willing to engage in a reasonable dialogue about legal immigration and the current quota system, we can't really talk about illegal immigration when it's virtually impossible for a labor to get a visa to come to America.

Where the real problem seems to lie in my opinion is with the more extreme cultures that are trying to impose their worldview on their host nations. Something must be done to keep out the extremist super freaks. Their religion may work for them in Saudi, Kuwait, Yemen, Sudan or Somalia. That same ultra conservative fanaticism, is not wanted, needed, nor desirable in Western nations. Only moderates need apply should be the policy. And there should be a standard of willingness to assimilate, and the responsibility should be on the family to prove that burden is met.

 

I believe immigration policy should be reformed to the point where it should be staged, and all Muslim families should show a willingness to assimilate. I also believe that families with Muslim daughters who are teenagers can start by proving that they have  participated in a bikini contest, and for teenage boys they must show a burden of proof that they're not affiliated with any of the local madrasas. 

 

Are we serious about keeping our nation's safe from extremists, or not? 

This will probably be interpreted as a racist statement but for a long time I've been saying that immigration criteria for Saudis and all believers in Sharia law should be unique and singular and far strictly then normal immigration for other people from other parts of the world.

It must never be forgotten that the Saudi's practice Wahhabism, the most extreme form of islam, a hateful and horrific interpretation that is completely intolerant of other religions and is the exact opposite of what most of us would regard as any kind of positive faith. 

Huge and very strict restrictions should be put on their ability to immigrate, essentially they are not wanted and they are not needed, and for the most part they are not of any benefit to a society that let them in, as it is very unlikely they will ever integrate. 

There are certain subjects that seem like they're just off limits in today's woke culture, nothing that I said was in any way racist, they were simply statements of facts. I feel that the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful and law-abiding and there's a relatively small minority that support extremism. But Sharia is completely out of control, and there's nothing racist about saying so, and the birth rate in Muslim African nations is completely out of control, and there's nothing wrong with saying so.

Australian immigration is fantastic for me, my houses are increasing in value, astronomically.

Average house price now, a million dollars. It's crazy, I remember at 22yo, I paid $70000 for my first Sydney house purchase.

As for the question, I think the real issue is being missed.

You are out there at night maintaining infrastructure, collecting data, analysing global trends, and people are still arguing about something as common as immigration.

Where are the studies.

Where are the graphs.

How many refugees per square metre of stairwell.

How many factories per diary entry.

No one is tracking this properly.

This is where you come in.

You could easily expand the project.

Add a new section.

Global migration patterns

Radio listening hours

Mopping output per shift

Tie it all neatly together.

Sell it as a full report.

Governments would be very interested. Highly valuable material, that is.

Much more useful than shouting about it on the radio or even AN.

You are in a position to actually quantify the whole thing.

I would start documenting it all immediately. Definitely dedicate one whole bound notebook to it. Well worth it.

Too important to leave unmeasured.

The OP asks for views on immigration. You have focused only on Muslims, countries where they follow Islam and some irrelevant comments on Wahhabism and Sharia law.

As usual, many comments are from opinionated or uninformed commentators. One of the reasons the ABC is perceived to be left-leaning is because previous Liberal (in Australia, Liberals are like the Republicans in the US or Christian Social Democrats in Germany) attempted to defund, privatize or direct the "independent" broadcaster to only report positively about Liberal governments headed by prime ministers such as John Howard, Tony Abbott etc. Howard and Abbott were decades ahead of Trump when it comes to inappropriate threats against a media authority. Research has shown that on average, the ABC is not particularly left-wing, if at all. If you google the internet, it states: "Attempts to empirically measure bias have historically produced mixed results, with some studies failing to find significant evidence of left-wing bias". But that's another conversation.

As for immigration (or did you mean refugees?), I believe that after simple qualifying checks and balances, anyone should be able to migrate, live, work and marry whoever they want. Racism, discrimination and BS are rampant around the globe. Accepting refugees (but they are not immigrants) for passionate reasons might be alright but only if they are legitimate. In 1996, I lived near Munich with my then wife. A refugee kept on following her every time she went outside when I was at work. One day, my wife told me that he had made contact with her and wanted to meet me. With great apprehension, I said OK. The next day, a tall dude from Africa walked through the door. He didn't wait, there were no introductions. He got straight to it. He asked whether I knew a German woman who would marry him because his refugee visa had already been rejected and his appeal was also likely to fail. Of course, I said "no". My then wife hassled me to find a wife for him. I declined again. Had I agreed, how should I have gone about it? Print and distribute flyers? My then wife and I had an argument. She called me "heartless". In the coming days, this guy would wait for hours in front our front door, ringing the door bell every 5 minutes, waiting for my wife to emerge while I was at work. She eventually apologized to me and asked me to get rid of him. He eventually stopped harassing my wife. So, instead of the protracted processes, governments need to develop a system where genuine refugees are easily identified and deported. This particular dude had no valid refugee excuse. He wanted a better life. But that doesn't qualify as a refugee. He should have applied as an immigrant instead. Planning, working hard and independently analyzing a situation and doing what's legal is required - not deceiving the system through fake marriages.

Western nations are currently facing a lack of diversity, and this can be effectively improved through increased immigration. While you might feel that newcomers are not compatible with your way of life, it's important to recognize that adapting to accommodate migrants is essential. Embracing this change is not only the right thing to do; it enriches our societies and fosters understanding and unity.

You should also spread this wonderful message in Thailand. Explain to thai that they need to embrace diversity in all aspects of their life. Help prop up the poor and bring in large numbers from neighboring countries. In the end it will vault thailand to new and wonderful experiences and mindset.

I said that the Western nations. The black and brown nations are diverse simply because of their identities. Only majority white nations require diversity.
