My question to you are you personally against immigration to your country

I found it sad and difficult to watch all those poor refugees being stopped at that wall in the USA

Are the left wing correct when they say the "racists" anti immigration are actually in the minority but just shout the loudest ?

In fact there is many in the UK who want immigration they want more refugees, and these are English people who have lived generations there

I did recently watch a current affairs show where a man who was a member of the pro immigration group became a hypocrite when his country village was marked for development and tear down the old houses for factories and he started complaining, however hypocrites are everywhere!

The word "academic", to quote the great Inigo Montoya:

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means".

I think it's adorable that you like to use big words considering ... well considering everything about yourself that you put on display here.

But you should really try to understand a word before making it you goto in all situations.

I absolutely hate foreign immigrants in Thailand. Let's face it, western countries aren't sending their brightest and best whites to Thailand. Most are failures who western women have obviously rejected, so they sell everything and move here to Thailand. Those lower class white immigrants have ruined Pattaya. They walk into bars and request Rod Stewart, they smell of vinegar and rotten sweat and spread STDs to the local ladies and twinks. I'm definitely against immigration to Thailand from white countries, except Russia. The Koreans, Chinese and Indians are welcome.

I assume this post is just sarcasm (ita not funny so i cant really tell) . Im not sure you classify koreans chinese and indians as "whites". 😝. But have a great day anyway!

Trans racial

I must admit I have never heard that term ,but it sounds very beautiful.

As an immigrant (or alien, as you wish) I am all for legal immigration. Key word is legal.

Making that work is another issue entirely. The laws, the bureaucracy, the courts, the enforcement are where things get sticky.

I'm against public funds being used to support migrants, either legal or illegal. When my great-grand parents and grand parents came to the US in the late 1800s, there was not public assistance. You came, found a job - and the Scot-Irish part of that clan we actively discriminated against, and then you pulled yourself up by your bootstraps.

Now? Now we have US veterans homeless on the streets while illegal immigrant received public assistance and get free medical and housing assistance. It shouldn't be that way. It should be - "Make it on your own or go back home."

The greatest thing I saw a working class middle aged white American driving a fed ex van stop and tell the ICE agents to leave the area and allow more immigration, what a hero of a man !

It's sad when we have the majority of Brits who want more immigration to help the refugees make a more diverse society but are too scared to speak out

A little bit of info for you Georgie the ABC radio and TV network is every bit as biased as the BBC and is fully funded by the Australian Government (taxpayers)

Georgeeta this is a very big one. No small matter. Perhaps the biggest yet!

Late night ABC radio, stairwell mopping, Glasgow, US border, UK politics, refugees, factories, apartments.

All covered in one shift.

Very efficient.

And good to see you clarifying the ABC for the non academic readers. Even though ABC is an American network and everyone in America is already quite familiar. Never mind. Minor detail.

Always helpful.

As for the question, I think the real issue is being missed.

You are out there at night maintaining infrastructure, collecting data, analysing global trends, and people are still arguing about something as common as immigration.

Where are the studies.

Where are the graphs.

How many refugees per square metre of stairwell.

How many factories per diary entry.

No one is tracking this properly.

This is where you come in.

You could easily expand the project.

Add a new section.

Global migration patterns

Radio listening hours

Mopping output per shift

Tie it all neatly together.

Sell it as a full report.

Governments would be very interested. Highly valuable material, that is.

Much more useful than shouting about it on the radio or even AN.

You are in a position to actually quantify the whole thing.

I would start documenting it all immediately. Definitely dedicate one whole bound notebook to it. Well worth it.

Too important to leave unmeasured.

Some actually think they're residents here, besides the few who have gained citizenship, and want the country to themselves. Put down foreigners all the time, even being one themselves, which is very strange.

I'm against economic migrants coming for free welfare, stating they are refugees.

True refuges shall be helped, but best in nearby countries – i.e. first safe country – and preferably countries with similar culture. If migrating to different culture, they shall integrate and be villing to followed that culture, and willing to work hard to be self supported. Rights of citizenship shall be a longer process, showing that the person really integrade in the new home country.

I an American, realize of course that some immigration is necessary as locals refuse to do a lot of manual labor and many immigrants arrive without the necessary skills to do jobs other than the manual labor but they can usually survive on the pay for that. However, totally uncontrolled immigration that much of the western world is experiencing over the past decade or so is not the way to do it. Folks need to come into a country legally, have a hearing by an immigration judge, prove that they have no criminal background, then should be able to join some kind of work force. Special visas are available for high IQ people. One problem the US has been facing is the limited number of immigration judges so that it takes years for many immigrants to have a hearing and in many of those cases, there are very few restrictions on their movements. i.e. around US military bases, certain other restricted areas yet police still find some illegals hanging around those locations as there are not enough police to control too many immigrants. In addition, those countries from which many immigrants flee get money that is supposed to help alleviate their problems in their own country and corruption leads to those funds not making it to the right areas IMHO. I do believe we need to change some of our immigration laws stating that illegals and their families cannot become citizens unless they are legal immigrants so, cannot avail themselves of US education, medical, housing or similar programs for the poor. These are my own feelings about illegal immigration. The US quota for immigrants is reportedly among one of the highest allowable immigration yearly. Now of course the whole situation has gotten totally out of hand IMHO due to the worst IMHO administration ever for the US.

A bronze plaque inside the Statue of Liberty's pedestal is inscribed with the sonnet "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazarus. Written in 1883, the poem welcomes immigrants with the famous lines: "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore".

At that time in the history of the United States of America, there was no such thing as ILLEGAL ALIEN migration.  Immigrants were LEGALLY processed through Ellis Island with each potential immigrant stating why they came and what skills they had.  They were also screened for contagious diseases such as tuberculosis, syphilis, and others.  That was the legal immigration process at that time.

That process has evolved over time with the establishment of LEGAL entry points along U.S. borders, at airports, seaports, etc.  The U.S. accepts about 1 MILLION LEGAL immigrants each year, including asylum-seekers, refugees, etc., through this LEGAL process.  That is far more than most other countries of the world.

My Bride of 57 years went through this same immigration process over 50 years ago, starting with the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok.  She needed to have a background check completed by the Thai police and the Thai Department of Special Investigation (DSI), which is the equivalent of the U.S. FBI.  She also needed to have a complete physical including chest X-ray, and other tests to confirm she had no communicable diseases, including tuberculosis.  On top of that, we both had to sign affidavits stating that my Bride would never become a ward of the state (in other words, she would not receive any sort of U.S. Government assistance).  My U.S. Air Force commander also needed to write a letter stating he approved of both our marriage and my Bride immigrating into the U.S.

The issue MOST Americans have is with ILLEGAL ALIEN migration - those who cross our borders ILLEGALLY without permission or any screening by U.S. authorities.  During the last administration with its policy of wide-open borders, this illegal immigration reached a total of 10 to 15 MILLION people in 4 years.  The administration even flew tens of thousands of Somali refugees into Minnesota without vetting.  Now Minnesota has to deal with $9 BILLION U.S. or more stolen through fraud from U.S. Government welfare programs by those same refugees from Somalia.

One post spoke of the wall along the U.S. southern border.  While it may look sad, a secure border is necessary for any country to survive.  Because of that secure border wall, we now have no ILLEGAL ALIENS crossing our border illegally.

Most Americans are happy to welcome immigrants into the U.S., provided they share our value system and moral code, they work to learn English, they assimilate into our culture, they don't commit crimes, and they are there to help make our country better.

Ridiculous, uninformed racist comment. Pakistanis ( or pakis as you know them) have been part of the UK's cultural makeup for decades. If you have a personal problem, how about laying the blame for the demise where it belongs? ( priviliged elites, rising inequality, rich corporations rampant tax avoidance etc). But no, its all about blaming immigrants, the oldest political storybook in history.

The title or question in the OP should better be :

Why are pro-immigration folks (mainly lefties but the greens and socialists too) so

You just dismissed most of the legitimate reasons for lawful immigration as 'bs', fully displaying your complete ignorance of any actual real facts for all to see. By the way, 'replacement immigration' is not considered a real demographic theory. Rather, it has been endlessly debunked as a far-right, white nationalist conspiracy theory.
