I think that all three of them are disliked and disrespected by the majority, and perhaps some fresh faces with actual negotiating ability might have been a wiser move. We were negotiating in good faith," Vance said. "And we leave here with a very simple proposal, a method of understanding that is our final and best offer. We'll see if the Iranians accept it."

The vice president said that he and the U.S. delegation were in "constant communication" with Trump throughout the 21 hours of peace talks. Vance told reporters that the president urged him to have "good faith" and "make your best effort to get a deal."

"We did that, and unfortunately, we weren't able to make any headway," Vance said.

The Strait remains closed for the foreseeable future.

Trump is absolutely the leader of the losers when it comes to negotiations. The only real success he has had is to SCARE businesses or people with billion dollar law suits even when he hasn't really a chance to win. IMHO anyway.

Per the NY Times and according to Iran conservative media, among the US demands was the U.S. gaining “management of the security of the Strait of Hormuz on their own terms.”

I read recently about Trump's negotiating style in that some (supporters) say his looking like he doesn't know what he's doing gives him a strategic advantage in negotiations.

In the past, as it should be, career U.S. Foreign Service officers from the Dept of State were assigned as negotiators. Not vile, greedy real estate brokers.
How far the US has fallen. Vance is just another "Yes" man who wants to be president. Given his position on continued US hegemony, I won't be voting for him.
