Vance fails at negotiations

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

For many of us sending in that trio of Vance, Witkoff and Kushner seemed like a pretty huge mistake. I think that all three of them are disliked and disrespected by the majority, and perhaps some fresh faces with actual negotiating ability might have been a wiser move. Vance is so fabulously unimpressive on nearly every level, and he's too closely tied to Trump for the Iranians to give him much honor or regard.

Vance said that the U.S. delegation left negotiations with the Iranian delegation with an "understanding that is our final and best offer.

We were negotiating in good faith," Vance said. "And we leave here with a very simple proposal, a method of understanding that is our final and best offer. We'll see if the Iranians accept it."

The vice president said that he and the U.S. delegation were in "constant communication" with Trump throughout the 21 hours of peace talks. Vance told reporters that the president urged him to have "good faith" and "make your best effort to get a deal."

"We did that, and unfortunately, we weren't able to make any headway," Vance said.

The Strait remains closed for the foreseeable future.

when an administration has no valid negotiators starting from the top down, what did anyone expect in this latest negotiation. Trump is absolutely the leader of the losers when it comes to negotiations. The only real success he has had is to SCARE businesses or people with billion dollar law suits even when he hasn't really a chance to win. IMHO anyway.

Per the NY Times and according to Iran conservative media, among the US demands was the U.S. gaining “management of the security of the Strait of Hormuz on their own terms.”

Other than that ...

That was probably the reason.

I read recently about Trump's negotiating style in that some (supporters) say his looking like he doesn't know what he's doing gives him a strategic advantage in negotiations.

It also could be that he doesn't know what he's doing.

In the past, as it should be, career U.S. Foreign Service officers from the Dept of State were assigned as negotiators. Not vile, greedy real estate brokers.
How far the US has fallen. Vance is just another "Yes" man who wants to be president. Given his position on continued US hegemony, I won't be voting for him.

I agree, the art of the deal is a big con, the man cannot negotiate his way out of a paper bag, and he sends in Vance who only 12 people like, and the Iranians have to despise that creep.

Trump seems to get bored easily. I think he is tired of the Iran situation and wants to move onto easier targets like Cuba.

I see him pulling out of everything in Iran.

The Straight of Hormuz will open again at some point after the Americans are gone.

There will be continued occasional bombs and fighting with Iran and Israel.

Serious Q, who tackled Iran best?

Democrats who airlifted the religious nuts billions of $$ of used banknotes on pallets, then censored all mention of the stupidity, or

Trump who atomized the Iranian nuke sites, atomized the Ayatollah and demilitarized Iran.

Please Mike, just for once, try being objective.

Trump and his cabinet and generals live in Bizarro-World.
Take anything that these people say, turn it 180 degrees, and you have the actually facts. The lying is so habitual and nothing these freaks say can be trusted.

Excuse me, it takes two to Tango. Were you at the negotiations? Did you have a zoom call during the discussions?

What objective evidence can you provide to the audience to back up your claim, other than what is reported?

The appropriate title should be USA and Iran failed at reaching an agreement.

Why are you so quick to blame JD? What did he do to you?

"Negotiating in good faith" in the last year has meant, "Get the Iran negotiators in one place and allow Israel to murder them."

For some reason Americans think that assassinations have been normalized. What if Iran, Russia, or China arranged for the murders of Vance, Witkoff, and Kusner? How about if they targeted Trump, Netanyahu, Hegseth, Rubio, and US and Israel generals. Pandora's box has been opened. Hegseth stated, "There are no rules." Ok - so don't complain when it's Quid Pro Quo. Just saying.......

Why are you so quick to assign a winner? What part of this war is not over that you are missing? What did Iran won? Please provide examples. If the start of the war was about the Strait of Hormuz, then that has not been resolved. You sound like an elementary school bully willing to shout...I won, I won....read the room dude. This war is not over until Israel says it is over.

Iran will be destabilized and unfortunately, that country's military and infrastructure has been severely damaged. That is winning? What planet are you on?

Trying to compromise with Islamist ideology is futile, they will still try to cut your head off at any opportunity' unless you cut theirs off first there will be no peaceful way for sure.

The start of the war had nothing to do with the Strait of Hormuz.

It was open with tankers freely moving between ports and the open sea.

It is closed due to that idiot Trump and his followers who ignored warnings the Iranians might close it.

If Trump and his government had any decency they would resign en masse to show responsibility for damage to the world economy.

What a bunch of idiots.

It must be so, SO nice to be totally detached from reality, like you are. Whatever you want to be true, is true.thumbsup

-Iran is 100% defeated
-Iran has no more enriched uranium (even though they're perennially 2 weeks away from making a nuke).

-The SOH is open.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Trump and the US has experienced it's most humiliating defeat since running from Vietnam.

USA has higher prices and less important goods coming in.

Countries surrounding Iran aren't happy with the US bases in their country anymore.

They sell more oil than before the war and at a much higher price.

He who negotiated a nuclear arms prohibition treaty that Iran was abiding by would be my answer.
