Tuk com How depressing......

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Recently made a trip to Tuk Com to update the black box. Had to wait awhile so strolled down to Tops.......big mistake.....what a sorry place.....so depressing.

Everybody in the mall just looks beat down.

I kinda feel sorry for the foreigners who have made that area their home.

Tuk Com does seem to be on it's very last legs..the Covidiocy delt a huge blow..Amorn replaced by

Mr DIY. The ATM machines all gone

loads of empty floor space...but I'm told by one vendor still sky high rent

Perhaps they will turn it back into a hotel again in the near future?

Ohh and they shut the last remaining toilet in the multi storey parking lot.

It has..... shame really, when it opened I thought it might do well. Had great stuff for the kids, but was a bit of a pain to drive into. Used to go to the one in Laam Chabang prior.

Tops in Tukcom will close for good on the last day of April.

I don't know what year I never saw it myself as a hotel but told by locals that it was previously

a hotel but had some mishap and then stood empty/derelict for quite a while before resurrection as

Tuk Com it was certainty empty when I first moved to Pattaya as I well remember having to drive to Siri Cha branch for all my computer stuff in 2003.

Well that doesn't surprise me but is quite disappointing 'Amorn' left some time ago

that only leaves the games machines..

Yes, it originally opened as the Day/Night hotel, with an attached small shopping mall.

If my memory serves me correct, 2 (Korean?) tourists died in the lift.

Media reporting back then was very sketchy, but rumours was they could not get anyone to work there after that, and it closed down.

You never know, Big C Extra looked like it was winding down and dying, since refurb has a good positive vibe, apart from the loitering falang

ALL ABOUT TUKCOM

Tukcom shopping mall, mobile & IT Shopping center, is the place where you can find smart phones, computers, laptops, cameras, hardware software and also electronic repair shops in one place. Not only it facilitates those who need to keep up with technology, but also it supports your family lifestyle.  There is a large indoor playground for kids age between 3-13 years old.   At present, Tukcom has 5 branches in Sri Racha, South Pattaya, Khon Kaen, Chonburi, and  Udonthani.

Tukcom Sriracha is the first location.  Originally used by the name “Laemthong Sriracha Department Store (1984)”, it had 6 floors on the area of 6,000 sq.m. (the first department store in the urban province with escalators).  It expanded to 14,500 sq.m. in 1987 and continued operations.  Until 2001, it was reorganized and renamed to “Tukcom Sriracha”.  It was the first IT center in the East and in 2011, it has been refurbished both the exterior and the interior. The emphasis is on black and white tone, creating a unique identity of the shopping center. There are IT shops, restaurants, special education institutes, Indoor playground “HarborLand”, and RollerLand.

After the tremendous succeed of Tukcom Sriracha,  Tukcom opened the second one in South Pattaya in 2004, the company had purchased a new Day Night Plaza shopping mall with a new modern look and used the new name as “Tukcom Pattaya”, which was the largest IT center in Pattaya. There are 8 floors to serve all needs from both tourists and Thais, including people in the area.

I wouldn't care if it closed, they have a cartel going on in the mobile floor, minimum price. I went to Khao Talo instead and got a phone fixed for less

You should have gone to the guy on Bukhaow Tues/Frid/Sunday market....non better for the price...been there years 👍

That's also how I remember it. Maybe there were more floors that weren't utilised...or they just rejigged the internals.

I have a vague memory that the very top (8th) floor might have been office space at one time

there was a sealed off escalator on the once IT City floor 5

and the lifts have a button to floor 7 but you can only ride upto floor 4

The concept is 10 years past its expiry. The days of an "IT" mall to sell mobile phones and IT gear are over. The telecom providers sell the devices in their outlets now. My AIS shop has the same items as the mall and it will offer a financing plan that the mall cannot. Tops-Power Buy offers all the electronics as does Lotus, and the factory outlets. They weren't doing that when the Tukcom concept started. It's like video rentals. They had their day.

Wow really ?

I always found their prices comparable to Western prices

I could get a lot more cheaper in Aldi in Australia

Never seem him, the Khao Talo guy is opposite Siamsburis, coincided with a trip

Gotta love that shady place with all the freelance girls hiding for free aircon. Used to have this dentist right across called Dr Smile, he is gone too. It's a shame they not put some work into it, the location and building itself is perfect. Issue seems to be certain tenants / shops.

Same this entire phone fix floor, virtually all are crooks.

Well it’s scruffy and not welcoming. It has a lot of competition these days with all the malls. Also, not many tourists know the area. I wonder when the building was built, and when tuc com opened as it is now. ? 20 years ?

Answered above in the post by @IsmeUno 2004 so 22 years ago..

In the day....twas a great place to shop for electronics.

Park at the free parking station then a cup of coffee then up to the IT sections, good fun.

Was always packed.

I nominate "IT Korat" as the most depressed, sparsely tenanted/customered It mall in Thailand..........possibly in the world.

Maybe Harbour Mall will make a comeback, it was meant to takeover from tukcom, sellers had moved over

The lift in the multi storey car park has been shut for years.
