Might it be possible to get rid of the OLD-GOAT smell of old people?

In fact, there is really NO WAY to NOT smell like an OLD-GOAT when one IS and Old Goat.

Maybe you just need to find some young female friend who prefers to sleep with goats?

Otherwise, do what I do....

Just sleep alone, and enjoy the smell.

Just completely forget bathing and shaving for the rest of your natural duration and never perform either ever again. Totally overrated and unnecessary.

Is there really NOTHING good about getting old, besides not dying?

Surely, there must be something.......

Anyone know?

Let's recall, as well, that it is NOT just Old-Goats who smell:.....

In Gai-Jin, set in 1862, Clavell references the historical pejorative "Bata-kusai" (stinking of butter).

I try not to eat dairy, hoping that I, a Gaijin, or a Farang, will not stink of butter.

But, do YOU???

I pay for haircut and shave once a month. Problem solved.

Part of a person doing well in life is regimentation, much like the military teaches some. Making certain things habits has you doing them without thinking, as they're necessary. Showering, shaving (even if you have facial hair it's still trimming), brushing teeth, using deodorant, putting things back where you got them from, closing doors, turning off appliances etc, are all necessary and will avoid problems.

This is how you raise your children, to be independent so they need only themselves, until they find someone that adds to their lives. It doesn't have to be like a drill instructor, making them do pushups if they forget to brush their teeth, but reminding them until they make them their own habits.

Washing your car is about taking care of what you own, and it gives a sense of pride, keeping things you own in order and clean.

Thailand is hot all the time, and if you get out of your house to do things, you're going to sweat more, and even coming from Texas I noticed how many showers Thais take daily, because in Texas you have AC in every home, on all day in the heat, unlike many here who either don't have AC, or just use it at night when sleeping or watching TV. It was once a day back home, and here it's twice at least, unless I mow the yard or do anything else outside, then it's three.

Only someone from the backwoods would be so primitive.

I am thinking: You must be Lady Chatterley's Lover, of the Chattering Class.....

And, who, but you, could smell so gamey, not bathing for a month, or two?

Shower daily, shave monthly

Really?

Why not? Apart from the soap, there is no difference.

the shower, and it was a very boring shower, indeed

Try showering with a friend.

At times I'll shower with my girlfriend, never boring.

Yes that is good especially with a chair.

Just making excuses to let things go and be lazy. This attitude rarely ends well and not a smart move when your pushing past 60 yo. Too much research (most of it garbage like most research ) out there to ignore it all and just think as we age we can just relax and let things go.

Before you know it you might be living in cold AC room alone in your own filth and talking to yourself and posting these talks on the internet. I enjoy the type but will never be the type. In the end, if you have tried to be clean and living in a tidy room alone and it didn't work for you, then be slovenly and soak it in.

At the very least, one must refrain from becoming slovenly.

Far better to just be a bit messy, at times.

When one is too neat, neat as a pin, then problems also ensue.

Wondering how long does it take people to shower and shave? For me, between 3-5 minutes and I feel better after for sure! Older men I would hope have figured out the minimalist shower and shave routine. For me it is a few minutes in the shower, 30 seconds with the electric razor to reduce the friction from my triple blade razor that easily gives me a close shave after the 30 second electric razor.

Agreed but living alone and not getting out much is mentally challenging. Keeping your abode spotless and staying on top of hygiene can add purpose to a simple life where you only have yourself to deal with? I'm not that clean but also I don't live alone.

30 minutes in the shower, and never less.

Why rush a good thing?

This is hands down the number one way of offending people in general and Thai people in particular.... smelling off and looking slack - especially smelling bad and double especially if it's actual body odor.

Who doesn't shower each time they come in from outside!!? In 33 plus degree heat It's an absolute given. I perhaps shower three or four times a day.

I understand if we're talking about a Western country and the temperature is like 15 or 25 something like that why you wouldn't shower each time you return home. Western countries don't have all of the dust and certainly the heat.

This whole idea of not showering is somehow healthy is absolutely absurd. Generally, I only use soap after I go for a run and then my last shower of the day. The rest I just rinse with water. You can also use a soap that doesn't have harsh detergents and antibiotics.

Whether it's prostitutes or prime ministers you will be far better received if not only you don't smell but you smell good. This has to be the absolute number one rule of Thailand.

When I've just showered, have a bit of cologne on and wearing something nice I notice that hot women are far more likely to queue up in back of me on MRT - even near me then when I am just running to Big C and clean, but no cologne or possibly proper shoes just slides. Sometimes girlies as young as early twenties.

Admittedly, now retired I am getting lazy about shaving. I shave three times a week now rather than everyday. It's enough, daily would be better.

People that look a mess just pathetic, those that smell are even worse. Some of the foreigners that I see getting on the subway really makes my eyes roll back in my head. I see the thai literally shift away from them. Is that you?

Removing facial hair can be very easy, quick, simple, painless and nt expensive.

Use VEET (and there's many other good brands of hair removal creams Imple process:

  1. Wash your face, neck etc., very well. when you take a shower ot whatever.

  2. Apply the recommended* amount of VEET cream and rub it in well (*don't aaply more than recommended it can burn the skin.)

  3. Leave it for 5 minutes, then use a face towel with warm water to wipe the cream off and the hair/ whiskers and roots will come off as well.

  4. After maybe 6 or 7 days some small regrowth will start to appear.

  5. Revert to step 1 above.

    Simple, quick, effective, not expensive.

Flambe torch is quicker and easier.

Pain free too if you do not concentrate on one spot for too long.

Good point and I do enjoy it more if I just relax and don't rush.

There is an old people smell definitely

Most Thai and Asian Don't like the way westerners smell this is due to primarily what we eat. Western men's body odor is extremely off-putting.

My wife loves my smell It's very weird she actually always comes up and smells me lol. I'm 65 but I don't smell old.

Eat Thai food, exercise, vitamins, body scrub, health and skin care

That's disgusting and I really don't sweat a lot even in 36° heat.

What sort of effort does it take to stand in a shower in the water run over you?

I shower up to 4 times a day. Wouldn't think otherwise.

Just now, StarOfLight said:

Little effort at the day end when I finished my activties.

Not a chance would I shower everytime I went inside the house.

Can you imagine it.... out in the garden pulling some weeds... ohh Iam thirsty, go inside to grab a glass of water... after I take a shower..... bbwahahahahahahahahahaha!!

Dear Folks,

I just, once again, exited the shower, and it was a very boring shower, indeed.

While showering, I realized, once again, just how much I hate to shower myself, and to shave myself.

I am REALLY getting bored, by the way.

And so, I am wondering:

How much might I need to pay someone, some female, to visit my house, once per day, to shower and shave me.

Have YOU ever thought of this better option?

For sure, if I could find some reliable female to bathe and shower me, then I would be happy to pay.

The way I look at it is like: I don't like washing my car. Or, I didn't like washing my Benz, when I had one.

So, basically, it is the SAME THING.....

I don't like washing cars, even my own.

And, I also do not like washing my own body, nor shaving my own beard.

So....

What might the cost be here, where I live?

And, if the cost is TOO HIGH where I live, then I am willing to move to some other place where labor costs are lower.

Any help?

I guess you recall that Letterman swore that after he quit his show that he would never again shave.

I am no different than HE....for sure.

I need some good advice.

I also think that hiring people to come to one's house to shower and shave one might be good for the Thai economy.

I am sure of it....

Best regards,

Gamma

Note: If I were more of an enterprising young man, then I would even start a Showering & Shaving Service. But, I am not. I just want some reliable female to come, once per day, to shower and shave me...

I am sure that having such a service would vastly improve both my hygiene and my peace of mind, while living here in Thailand.

Only shower once a day? There is another post on here posing the question 'Do Thais find farangs smelly?'

Of course, that's not what I'm talking about. Your posts are tedious.

Having said that if I were to return to the condo for 5 minutes to drop a package or bags and need to go back out I would jump in the shower again simply because why not? It lowers your temperature and washes the grime off your body

Anyway, I think we have exhausted our discussion together
