A 12 month bank statement lists all the transactions for 12 month period.

As a result it shows monthly transfers for checking income method and balances if using money in bank method.

Ok, I'm familiar with what I call the annual statement.

Thanks

Thanks a lot👍However not sure if I get your meaning with "12" statements". Do you mean one statement for each month? Is it not enough with an annual statement which cover 12 months included the month/date I applied last year and then in addition 12 credit advice`s for same period and a copy and original of book bank and yes, the bank letter?

can be done with one statement if your transfers show that it was an international transfer, if not you will have to show 12 credit advices,

Same for myself.

I provide 12 month bank statement and request statement in Thai language.

The 12 transfers are tagged as international transfers.

I highlight each monthly transfer.

Immigration seem appreciative of that

It seems to me, reading the numerous posts and replies, mentioning both Retirement and Marriage extensions, monthly deposits and 'money in the bank' methods, plus various Imm Offices "rules", that we need bank passbooks MUCH thicker (many more pages) than the pathetic things they give us now !

How on earth can all these everyday transactions AND important coded monthly deposits be recorded without overflowing the book and/or numerous 'condensed' or compressed entries?

(Hence Imm requires full monthly statements)

My wife regularly takes out ฿300 or ฿500 ,not ฿5000! So these fill a page in 1 week??

As for obtaining a confirmation Bank letter, I have never submitted a Request form...whatever that is??

Just walk into the branch (shopping mall), show them a copy of an old letter, and verbally Request a new updated one, and 3 month statement and it's done in 5 minutes.

Also, Never experienced any account freeze, so lucky in that regard.

Can't imagine how the "freeze" works in practice!!

Am on Marriage extension, money in the bank (BBL) and Pathum Thani Immigration.

Most of what you outlined in size of bank book is eliminated by having a dedicated account for immigration purposes and one for daily banking needs.

The bank letter you referred to does not have request form not does 12 month bank statement if attending branch. Just sate what you want.

100 and 200b respectively.

As for BBL freeze that has been reported often and in the main caught out married extension using funds in bank method

Two birds one stone. BBK had NY deposits add a second account used to transfer into the second where it can be "spent" from. My deposit book has five pages to record only deposts. I can not imaginge why they would wnt to se your spending trnsaction and have no intention of submitting that bulk.

Those customers had the freeze experience due to not having the followed thier own process for new accounts.

We had to reopen to the same requitements for these second acounts to unlock the freeze.

Good idea.

I'll ask about another account in my name only and see what BBL say ( 20 photo copies and signatures later....)

Every time I withdraw from the ATM or use my Debit card or pay online, I think " zinngg..another entry in the passbook "

Also my wife has an invisible signature in the back of the current passbook, so that she can withdraw funds if needed.

BUT it means that BBL will not issue me a new one unless she is present to sign....

Or, she is removed from having that facility ....also requires her to be present !

In OZ* and 20yrs working in Hong Kong, I never had a passbook .

Only Philippina maids had them in HK.

*after about mid 1970's / 80's

TH is sadly still back in the 70's in many respects!

We are all different. I don't have dedicated account for immigration.

I always pay cash and my mothly transactions in my Thai bank account are one transfer from Oz (100k use WISE)

One transfer/month into my Thai partner account.

Finally couple of cash withdrawals for my daily expenses.

So all up maybe 5 entries per month.

All done ATM in machine in my condo.

True. But I make sure the only easy-to-see credit/deposits to the account (other than interest satang) are the 65K+ FTT transfers. Otherwise, I've seen the IMM officer go into decision-mode tracking as to which are the 12 deposits.

It's recommended to make the transfers approx same date of every month and also present the 12 month statement with the 12 transfers highlighted.

For Bangkok Bank you can request the 12 month account statement through the app. More services, Request Account Statement. My experience I've had to request the statement 1 month prior because the selection dates only went back 11 months from current date. Additionally if it's a weekend, or holiday that is around the first few days of the month were bank was closed you may have to wait a day for current month to be available.

You would then need to request the current month statement and print all of them out.

Still required copy of account page of bank book. This was for Chonburi immigration.

Immigration will not accept online produced statements, as they MUST be stamped by the Bank.

All my transfers are noted as FTT, Foreign Telegraphic Transfer on both statements and Bank book.

You could get an 11 month statement a week before, and then month 12 on the day you go.

I think it is a good idea to have a specific MONTHLY account into which your transfers go. Then it is just 12 entries for Mr IO to look at.

Same with the Deposit, in a different account, never touched.

My IO accepts the Combination Method i.e. 400k on Deposit, and 35k via WISE every month.

The only reason you may need to highlight the 12 transfers 65k+ is if you have more than 12 transfers -- the transfers otherwise appear in the credit column. To me controlling the CREDITS is more important than controlling the DEBITS.

For me the deposit date is first of the month barring weekend and holidays.

My 12 month statement from Kasikorn was certainly not clear as what you indicate for your statement.

In any event io seemed pleased the 12 transfers were highlighted.

This is what I indicated: Other than any interest payment, there is no deposit in the deposit column as FTT other than the 12 monthly 65K+ deposits so no need to highlight the 12 65k+ deposits

NB My deposits come via SWIFT transfer so no WISE complications.

I haven't decided yet if I shall use money in bank or monthly transfers yet for application for one year extension 2027 but allow me to ask if anyone know if Bangkok Bank also has any "special rules" when using monthly transfers as proof of income for immigration when applying for a one-year visa extension! Will they usually issue a so-called bank letter as proof that the account belongs to me and with the amount deposited, and will they issue a one-year statement when they understand the context and background of the request. Btw, for the past year after my request, I have had monthly "credit advice" issued and sent to me via e-mail which I then plan (this applies to next year) and print out and bring to immigration but do they first have to be printed out and then taken back to the bank for a handwritten signature or does immigration generally accept them as they are?

Thanks

Have used the monthly income method for Extension of Stays for over a decade. I call Fidelity around 20:3 after the 1st on the month. As they have my Bangkok Bank info on file a Wire Transfer (in USD) is ordered (Fidelity does not charge for my outgoing Wire Transfer). Barring holiday or weekend, the transferred amount is in my Bangkok Bank Acct. the next morn. For Extension, BKK sends to Bangkok for the year print out noting monthly FTT deposits (suggest 2 week time allowance), local office issues account letter. That is all here currently in Chiang Mai. I use an agency to renew as they keep up with any changes.

Are you in Pattaya? Many people report the Bangkok Bank branches in Pattaya not providing the required items for the monthly transfers. Haven't heard of similar issues anywhere else though.

I did the monthly once the embassy ceased providing proof of income. I have a BBL account and each extension I would show up at my local CM BBL branch, they would show me a letter they had from Immigration stating what was needed, ownership of acct, active, a year's monthly accounting showing 12 monthly deposits but I never needed credit advise statements which if they are not signed by a branch officer or BBL official might not be accepted so I never provided them at CM immigration and never had a problem with the extensions.

Bangkok Bank can set you up so that you get credit advice by email on the same day as deposit, I have been doing that for over a year now with no problems.

Regarding the Credit Advice Note which BBL emails to you when they receive your remittance from your home country… It does not require being certified by the bank – See the note at the bottom of the advice note e.g. “This is a computer generated advice. No Authorised signature is required”.

BBL has never emailed me credit advices; I have to ask for them at my branch, though the branch itself can print them same day or next day. I can't seem to find anywhere on the BBL web site or app where one can ask to be emailed credit advices when each transfer is received. Where should I look?

Unfortunately, the BBL mobile app does not have a feature that allows you to request credit advices be emailed to you. You will need to go to your branch (with passbook and passport) and ask the customer service advisor to set this up for you. This will involve the normal reems of forms/signatures, and will take about a month to work its way through their system(s) before you start receiving your email credit advice notes.

Hope this helps.

In the main the folk that got caught out with the BBL "freeze" were the guys doing marriage extensions using money in bank method.

Some just seasoned the funds for two months and had BBL spring this rogue act on them.

Out of interest may ask... Why did you opt to change from income method to money in bank.

In that case with FTT code you're good to go.

That indicates international transfer

My mate got caught out by it on what I believe was the 1st day it was implemented (Monday 30th June 2025) when doing his retirement extension as the 800K had only been in there 3.5 months.

The last time I met up with him (January) the funds were still frozen BUT that's his own fault as he's been too lazy to go into the Bank to get it unfrozen - Actually when you think about it, having 800K frozen in your accout might be a good thing if it's purpose is solely to support your extension (I do keep telling him to get a Fixed Deposit account).

Edit: My overseas transfers show up as "Trade Transfer" in my Kasikorn account. FTT in my Bangkok Account

I can't see how it's a good thing.

The funds can't be touched even in eg medical emergency and the 800k earns ridiculously low interest.

For that reason alone I use income method.

The 800k is back in my Oz super a/c earning 8% +

I think you have to do it in person, I had to sign a couple of forms

In fairness I did say "Might be a good thing if it's purpose is solely to support your extension" but you do make a good point about getting access to the 800K in a Medical emergency as the same would be true of money in a (Bangkok or Kasikorn Bank) Fixed Deposit account as withdrawals needs to be done in-Branch so it's as good as frozen anyway.

I personally don't like the monthly Income method because I have multiple income streams (Pension, Dividends, Intererest from Bonds/Funds/Bank accounts & Rent) and it's already hard enough to identify the (FIFO) source of the income (for my Tax Return) for the 2-3 transfers I do each year, having to do it on a monthly basis would do my head in.

As always, to each his own.

To some extent depends on your immigration office.

I also have rents and various sources of income and an income stream from my Oz super.

CW does not ask me for the source of income.

I consolidate funds into my Oz bank account and transfer approx 100k on 14th of every month. (did one earlier this morning)

Using WISE the transfer is instant.

I show immigration the 12 month bank statement with the 12 transfers highlighted.

Must obviously be shown as international transfers.

Sorry the needing to know where my Income comes from has nothing to do with Immigration, it's for when I'm doing my Thai Tax Return where, for each remittance, I need to know which income stream the money came on a FIFO (First In First Out) basis.

To give an approx. example from last year's Tax Return:

  • Sold some shares for £12K in Nov 2024 & had £3K in my GIA already

  • Spent £10K (Buying Bonds) in December, Under FIFO the £3K is spent 1st so it left £5K from the Share sale

  • Received £1K in Rent 3rd December

  • Received £4K in Gilt Interest on 8th December

So for my Tax Return...

  • Jan's £4K Transfer all came from the £5K from the share sale, the gain was 10% which meant £3,600 of this came from Capital & the (reported) income was £400

  • Feb's £4K Transfer came 1st from the £1K remaining from the share sale (£100 reported as remitted Income) then £1K from Rent then 2K from Gilt Interest.

... All needs to be reported under separate categories anyway, but there are advantages in reporting certain types of income (Especially Rent & Pensions) as you can get extra allowances against your Tax bill.

You can maybe understand why I don't fancy having to do this for 12 remittances a year :)

Great -- so you'll have to get at my account before my wife does while there's still money in it. But I just put it there as we were advised to highlight the FTT deposits even when there are only FTT deposits because in doing so an IMM officer might think we highlighted the 12 deposits 'cause we think they are stupid.
