I question whether Revolut is using SWIFT.

Revolut swift fees are built into they money exchanged rates.

Paste and copied from Revolut:-

Revolut predominantly uses the SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) network to send money overseas to bank accounts in over 160 countries. R Revolut +2

It's normal for thai banks to charge circ 500 baht when they receive a swift payment

Yes I use Wise for bringing my pension from the UK every month. Still a very good service IMO - months ago I recall the money arriving regularly in my Thai BKK Bank branch in seconds, almost unbelieva

Just did a transfer of ~32000฿ yesterday morning via the app, it was completed and deposited with a kbank notification before the wise app said it was being processed.

Was it FTT coded....International Transfer?

I have just done Bht3000 WISE THB to BKK Bank, giving Long Stay as the reason. It will arrive at 13.13pm on Monday exactly as all my previous transfer have.

Apologies for taking so long to respond. To answer your question, yes it was FTT coded.

I am now somewhat curious to see whether next month's transfer will also whizz through in the blink of an eye or whether it will revert to its usual four and a half hour time frame?

I did this month's Immigration Transfer via Revolut. Almost instant and coded as FTT at Bangkok Bank. Very little difference in the final deposit amount, Bht 300.

I transferred 10,000 baht to BBL this morning and it arrived in seconds.

Thanks, it is always useful to know of an alternative.

To date, I have not had any problems with WISE. A four and a half wait has never troubled me, so even if my recent experience proves to be a one off, I will continue with WISE for the time being.

Made a transfer yesterday, 1000, pounds, received in my Thai Bank SCB, 8 seconds.

I just came across this topic whilst perusing!
Many are under the impression that Barclays (and HSBC) are as good, if not better than, Wise. This is simply because they have a zero transfer fee.

This is from today:

A 900฿ difference in favour of Wise against Barclays on a £1000 transfer is not a sum worth dismissing.

Same from USA cannot complain 6 seconds into Kasikorn even after banking hours no prob multiple days in a row.

But I do see if you get above say $1400 USD it will take days....So I just bite fees & send a few 1000 USD & 6 seconds done deal. I am ok with that for now.

If I want to do big transfers I use my US credit Union thru Bangkok Bank NY & it costs only $25 done in a few hours but no guaranteed rate

And less than 300 baht for HSBC according to that.....I understand to some that may be relevant but if you don't have Wise already......

What would the figures be for a 5k, 10k or a 20k transfer. Ie where does it turn the other way?

Strangely enough, I did work out the the break even point and it was about the 21k mark. Obviously it depends on the exchange rate, and Wise do a different, beneficial rate for larger amounts.

Someone mentioned Remitly on here recently. They were impressed at their efficiency but added that the costs were a tad higher.

I received 65,590 Baht from Wise last week for 1500 English pounds, Remitly quoted 64,700.

Will see what the changes with Wise have in store, but sounds like a decent back up.
