Migrants Continue Channel Crossings

While British tourists sat in traffic jams, people smugglers were once again exploiting calm seas to launch migrant boats from northern France.

Off the coast near Dunkirk, groups of migrants — including children — were seen boarding overcrowded dinghies in shallow waters while French police looked on.

Some officers carrying riot shields watched from the shoreline as migrants waded into the sea wearing high-visibility jackets before climbing aboard inflatable boats bound for Britain.

Almost 400 migrants crossed the Channel on Friday alone, with authorities expecting similar or even higher numbers throughout the holiday weekend because of favourable weather conditions.

Bank Holiday Border Chaos

Britain’s border crisis erupted into fresh chaos over the Bank Holiday weekend as families heading to Europe faced hours-long delays while migrant boats continued crossing the English Channel almost unchecked.

Thousands of travellers endured sweltering queues at Dover and Folkestone after new European border procedures triggered massive congestion at ferry terminals and Eurotunnel crossings.

At the Port of Dover, some passengers reportedly faced waits of more than four hours as temperatures climbed high enough for heat health warnings to be issued.

The disruption came after the introduction of the European Union’s new Entry/Exit System (EES), which now requires British travellers entering the Schengen Area to provide fingerprints and facial photographs.

French border officers were forced to manually process travellers after technical issues reportedly crippled the automated system.

French Police Forced To Suspend New Checks

With traffic queues spiralling out of control, French authorities eventually suspended the tougher checks and temporarily returned to older, faster procedures in a bid to clear the backlog.

Doug Bannister said the new system had severely slowed processing times despite French immigration police deploying significant resources.

According to port officials, around 18,000 passengers were expected to pass through Dover during the getaway rush.

Travellers using Eurotunnel services from Folkestone also faced major disruption, with delays stretching to around three hours as vehicles backed up around the terminal.

Many passengers reportedly missed scheduled departures and had to be transferred onto later crossings.

Pressure Mounts On Government Over Borders

The scenes are likely to intensify criticism of Britain’s border controls as ministers face mounting pressure over both illegal migration and growing travel disruption for ordinary families.

Critics argue the situation exposes a system struggling on multiple fronts — with holidaymakers trapped in delays while migrant crossings continue at pace across one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes.

The chaos also raises fresh questions about the EU’s new border technology, which has already been plagued by concerns over delays, technical reliability and the handling of travellers’ personal data.

With the busy summer holiday season still ahead, officials fear further disruption unless the system can be stabilised quickly.

Does Britain not have a navy to repell or scuttle the invading horde? I cant understand what happened to that country? Truly bizarre.

It is by design.

They know exactly what they are doing.

Ah the ridiculous replacement theory. Net migration last year was 171,000 - the lowest since 2012.

And don't worry, under Labour the deportation of illegal immigrants is up by 24% compared to the last year of Tory rule. There are now only around 20k people in hotels awaiting processing down from 56,000 in 2023 (under the Conservative government) and this figure continues to go down until hotel are no longer used. Let's not forget who started the use of hotels. Clue: it wasn't Labour.

The Tories stopped asylum processing. Labour restarted it with 1,000 more staff to handle the backlog.

It's completely fabricated that things are getting worse when in fact under Labour real progress is being made across all metrics related to illegal immigration.

Tell us about this design please.

And tell us who "they" are.

Who said anything about killing anyone? If the Israelis can stop Greta's sex cruises from landing in Gaza (with no fatalities, BTW), why can't the Royal Navy stop their invasion?

Assuming, of course, that they want to. That appears to be the dead giveaway. They have to want to...

It's as simple as the navy wanting to, is that what you think? Unlike Israel we do care about international law. And anyway Israel has designated it as a combat zone so it can enforce a naval blockade. In case you haven't noticed the UK is not at war and we are bound by maritime law, quite correctly, as well as human rights laws and refugee conventions.

What would you have the French police do? Not doing anything illegal in France.

Are we blaming illegal migrants for Brit holday-makers' traffic jams?!? It's an island, fer Chrissakes! Blame Brexit and the stupid regulations designed to make us all safer. Yeah, right.

Of course it's not that simple... The Navy has to follow orders.

The question is, who's ordering them not to enforce the UK's maritime boundaries? (That's a rhetorical question. We all know the answer.) Which is not a violation of any international laws, BTW.

Hop into an unstable inflatable (or any boat) with 100 of your besties on a fishing trip and you won't make it off the beach without getting stopped, fined, and probably turned around.

I wonder how the Brits justify paying the Frogs $600 million to help them stop illegal migrants. I'd be asking for a refund.

The UK Government is paying millions to the French to stop migrants

Can you see how that may not be good news for any native Brits on the list for scarce public housing?

I would say your comment falls in the category 'always something to moan about'.

Yeah. Call me a moaner because newcomers (many of them illegal) are taking the resources away from natives that have worked and paid into the system for years.

As of today nearly a Thousand illegals arrived in Boats and today we are expecting an Armada with a heatwave hitting us in the UK at the moment.

But where are they now? that is the problem nobody knows.

There are thousands who have had their asylum claims rejected but are sill here and free.

Everyone entering the country illegally should be detained and ultimately deported without being free to go anywhere they want then just disappear off the radar.
