Also go to your bank and have the new passport details registered with them.

Ditto with your SIM card provider, or else you may start experiencing difficulties with your internet/mobile banking.

Clearly you didn't have your funds in account frozen in exchange for Bank Letter required for extensions at immigration. Rubbish bank

Yes posted that earlier. ...

"To add to post above ^ visit bank to update new pp # you should do same with mobile carrier if using banking app.

Also some folk update their TDL.

Personally I wouldn't bother.

Just leave it till next license renewal"

I wonder how many folk use online banking app.

Guess a lot. I certainly do not

You must be in the minority. I use my banking apps daily to move money around if needed. I also use my app to scan to pay, I hate carrying cash around.

He probably means his banking cards with his account. In UK I used my BBL Mastercard all the time to get my money. All appears on your app. Bangkok Bank get a lot of unfair comments here, but their banking app is great. Took a bit of paperwork but finally got our joint account on there too.....

No.

I only use UK cards (my income is derived in Sterling) in Thailand and when on holiday.

I don't use AIS when on holiday. Local sims or MY TELLO when calling back to Thailand.

So if you don't use banking app for your Thai phone then why the need to update details (new pp #)

Of course I have Oz cards and banking app.

When i renewed my pp about year ago I didn't do anything with my Thai phone in regards to new pp #

Personally, I find it very hard to believe that any airline anywhere has a Thai immigration "hot line" to verify anything such as passport acceptance. Given the time zone differences, etc. even more suspicious. The OP's evening check-in in the UK is still the middle of the pre-dawn night, the following morning in Bangkok.

I would wager that someone representing the airline, maybe without an airline supervisor to revert to, made up this "immigration says no" story to cover their arse. A lot of check-in staff are from agencies and can represent any one of several airlines in a working day.

It would be interesting to know the UK airport where the OP was bounced. I had some go-around with a less knowledgeable check-in chap and his first supervisor at MAN, when headed for Suriname via Amsterdam. Took a more senior type to give the nod.

That is what I said, it was7.30pm ,I said, after they said they were going to contact Bangkok ,''It is 01.30am in Bangkok, will they be any one in the office'' ,check in said, they work 24/7,must have been immigration at the airport they are 24/7, and it was a Thai airline flight(the flight was Thai, it was a code share with Evar air I was booked on a Evar flight ), hence the link to Thai immigration?? the airport was T2, Heathrow.

The check in guy did go to his supervisor, there must have been 3 check in staff looking at my passport.

IMHO it is much more convenient to make payments by card (as is commonplace in the UK and Europe these days), rather than by aiming e-pot shots with a phone and banking app at that scourge of the 21st Century known as the QR Code (as, unfortunately, is becoming increasingly commonplace in Thailand).

Not sure if you have been drinking but you are making some whacky assumptions and comments!

I use the K Bank app on my Thai phone. I also have all my UK banking apps on my Thai phone,

Hmm, not so sure that you would be so against that QR if you had to stand (as I did) being the old hag in Buriram Makro who pushed her shop stock through, and when the total came to 19,700 Baht, proceeded to hoik out a bag full 20 Baht notes (one wrapped over four in true Thai style. She counted them all out before handing them to the cashier - who then counted each set of 100 Baht twice!

I hear ya. These Buriram money-laundering old biddies are getting worse.

The empathy is appreciated...................some think it is all part of Thai culture and would give me a thumbs down 😄

I would say same re you posting about holidays in EU...

The update your pp details with phone carrier was started when I posted this.,.....

"visit bank to update new pp # you should do same with mobile carrier if using banking app"

So yes if using banking app then update with phone carrier.

Not everyone uses app.

I for one do not and as a result do nothing after pp renewal regards phone.

You are incorrectly assuming that it's only necessary to update new passport details with your bank if you use the app. If the bank does not have the correct passport details they will not issue a replacement ATM card, new passbook, set up new payments etc etc. I offered a good price of advice to the OP and you decided as usual to comment in your pedantic manner. Being a mod does not make you always right and respectfully you need to improve your attitude in your replies.

All my Thai banking apps are linked to my wife's SIMs

I don't have any Thai SIMs in my name, just her SIMs in my phone.

Not at all.

I have stated in many threads that if you obtain a new pp you need to update with bank.

In fact immigration will require that as soon as you have interaction eg withdrawal/deposit at a branch.

Simple quick process.

This is different than notifying your sim carrier for new pp #.

I'm pointing out that unless you are using banking app it is not necessary. Probably a good idea however not essential
