Why no British or Irish pubs outside of Sukhumvit?

Thai food is always exceptional at an English pub.

My GF just had a green curry at the Robin Hood pub and said it was as good as what she makes.

$.89 pad krapow at the Royal Oak is a lunchtime standard for me.

Once again:

-he doesn’t go to these kinds of places, but comically represents himself as a hardened traveler who is simply above these kinds of places.

-he does this odd purist posturing not to backpackers, who he also disdains, but to comfortably well off residents who don’t have to cram 30 pad Thais into a short sex tourism break. He is a two week millionaire without the millionaire part.

-his eternal complaint here is: why aren’t you exactly like me? I’m here every day telling you how to be, why aren’t you listening to me?

-฿300 for a hamburger may as well be 3 million. He’s just too broke to eat anything but meat on a stick from a vendor.

Great curry in a pub exceptional lol

You really are clueless. Thais don't want to offend and will say that 5555

You have Thai people working in the kitchen and long-term Thai employees as a service staff. You also have frequent visitors to Thailand and residents. Many western and Thai couples enjoy eating in a pub.

Tell me, Bogan, why would they purposely make bad Thai food given those circumstances?

Or are you simply just talking straight out of you you know what as usual just to hump our legs and have someone to talk to in your sad lonely life?

Can we hear more about you eating the candy bar out of some sex workers vagina that you talked about two days ago?

That never happened, just like you never had a green curry in an English pub, but at least that will make for more fun as you stutter and stammer and try to make up and implausible lie.

Your disrespectful condescension towards Thai women is at least a generation out of date and completely out of place here where many of us are married or committed to quality Thai women.

Why do you do this?

You go to English pubs to eat Green curries 5555

Funny you use the term bogan when you dress and act like one. That rag of a shirt you wear is 100% bogan.

Raintree Pub is a good Thai style pub. Folk music and used to be good food.

Saxophone Pub has jazz and blues but average food.

They are within walking distance near Victory.

Flann O'Brien's at the Impact Event Center. Good place for a pint.

I eat green curry at a variety of places . Sri Trat seafood is my fave.

You know that. But you have no argument game, due to your autism problem.

So you will frantically reframe me as someone who only eats Thai food in an English pub. Which you know is not true.

I was wearing a black Uniqglo tee shirt. Your rabid hanging onto that again shows that you have no argument game. Due to your autism.

You will now frantically run away from your disrespect of referring to all Thai women as Lek, which is something that sex tourists typically do.

Having gotten out well ahead of your skis again with your vagina candy bar eating claim, you will just flail and call me gay or something.

Run, Sissy, Run.

This is where we always end up . And fast.

Retard, I was in Victory in March. Maybe go buy a decent shirt and do some arm curls for those skinny arms. You really do look pathetic. Run sissy run lol

Tough enough, I guess.

You no longer dementedly the demand to know people’s hobbbbieeees anymore because I made fun of you about it.

I’m going to make a broad guess that we will hear less of your incell, low- morality sex tourist BS and disrespect towards Thai women in the days to come.

But if I hear this nonsense out of your incel retard mouth again, I will be happy to b-slap you around and make you go cry to the mods, like you always do.

Do you still want to spar with people here?

You were saying that about a week ago, people who you disagree with, you want to spar, as in physically fight, with

Or has that fever moment passed for you?

Just like the urge to jam a Mars bar hard into some poor sex workers vagina has possibly moved on for you.

But anyway, the English pub is something I find in mostly size Thai towns.

In Udon, there’s a good one with rooms that’s always booked out. The wrong way inn in Ubon is another one. I’ve enjoyed saying that.

Old city Chi Mai has at least a couple of very good ones.

That fabled March trip where you everywhere all at once at all times.

I’m 73, I look great for 73. Please tell us about your biceps again. You know you definitely have a gay following here.

If I wanna watch a sissy run, I just have to ask you to post a picture.

Yes, I know. Thanks. But looking for English/Irish pubs. Not Thai cowboy wooden furniture and Leo beer. There are a couple of other Thai pubs just north of TV5 (Army base) on Phahon Yothin - but full of Thai conscripts. Edit to add: There is also Sutisan Road near there - sometimes called the "Thai Soi Cowboy" - but again probably not a place for farangs.. you'd be the only one there.

Thanks - will add to the list. Pretty far away though but good if you are going to a concert etc.

Not many farangs in Victory or even On Nut. The area around Nana and Asoke is packed with farangs.

He doesn’t go to British pubs.

He feels A very odd urgency to dominate every conversation and be the smartest guy in the room.

Problematic: he doesn’t know anything and he has autism-level social skills.

So this OCD insistence that people listen to him -and admire his biceps on faith and from afar- just goes nowhere.

On Soi 33/1 There are four really good pubs of the English/Irish variety.

I think Robin Hood has the best food, but they all have individually great dishes. The Royal Oak. has spaghetti Bolognese as good as a real Italian restaurant. The Tiger pub has chicken satay that would be praised in Ubud.

Best Irish pub I have ever been in was in Buenos Aires. They had Guinness and the best Tex-Mex grub south of Harlingen.

Best Pub/Bar in TH for me, Chit Beer, having craft beers, open air, along the river. Really doesn't get any better ...

Yes, of course they are everywhere in 5 star hotels. I'm talking about pubs. Fresh draft beer - usually several choices - then British pies, fish and chips etc. These 'cocktail joints' - roof top or otherwise in Thailand - often don't even stock Heineken in a bottle, much less carry an array of international draft beer. They are for show and to empty your wallet.

Like I said, need to get out more. Not all are 'cocktail joints / tourist traps. Y'all need to get off the beaten path.

More to Krung Thep & TH, than Suk, Silom, Soi Cowboy, Nana, Bangla Rd, Soi 6 & Irish Pubs.

On Nut is teacher land. Victory monument, called victory by autism suffers, is also very westernized.

Proof that he doesn’t really come here much, doesn’t really know much, and drives most of his knowledge from watching YouTube videos

I get out lots. Have been for decades. Long enough that I can remember the Barbican near Sala Daeng. Great place (not a pub, more a bar and grill). Up and down Nana, Soi Cowboy+Soi 23 pubs, Royal Oak, O'Shea's, Robin Hood, The Australian, Hanrahans (name keeps changing), Black Swan, etc. etc.

But I'm sick of making the skytrain trip there and back. As I said I am looking for more options north of Ploen Chit. Pubs. Not bars.

Aint that the truth. The original on Koh Kret is one of the true "joints" of fame. Great owner, great crowd and even nice music on a weekend afternoon. They have become so popular there are a number of branches now. But if you've been to the one on Koh Kret its very hard to beat that atmosphere.

You can’t talk about brewing in Bangkok without talking about Colonel Wichit ‘Chit’ Saiklao. The Thailand craft brew pioneer that started Chit Beer [or ChitBeer] has been at the forefront of the brewing scene for more than a decade. His students, such as Devanom, have gone on to change the scene in their own way. Chit’s first shop on Koh Kret has been a pilgrimage for all craft beer lovers to Bangkok. Recent expansions, Chit Holes, have opened around Bangkok, as well as Phuket and Chiang Mai. (BK Magazine; Dec. 2024)

Different atmosphere (IMO). Leans more to selling pints of draft beer and then selling British or Irish pub grub. A Thai bar restaurant often doesn't even have draft beer. They concentrate on cocktails and bottled beer and wine with meals.

There is the Tawandang bars, German, but plenty of draft beer, including one a bit like the old "mild".

Used to be one where Central Marina is in Pattaya, but unfortunately shut it down some years ago.

Thanks, yes they are very lively and have draft beer. But not in the area I'm trying to find..

No, I was commenting on your gentle rebuff to the person who said that those places he long ago went to were British pubs

I don’t think you’re mentally effed.

Back to Supply & Demand, and apparently most have no desire to sit in a pub. Just grumpy, working expats, and tourist who fly around the world to visit a little bit of home in a different country cheesy

I used to pop into Irish pub @ Udon about once a week, as friend managed it, and great food, along with little options at the time for non Thai beer. Nice Black & Tans, Kilkenny & Guinness. But I didn't go for the Pub vibe, just chit chat, grub, and didn't stay long after that.

Spent long nights at Thai pubs, restaurants, nice background band, good food, and that free flow wine helped a lot at the one place, along with sitting with lots of glass to look out of from above, if not open air.

Sitting inside dark, 4 walled pubs, bars is really boring to me, and I need a view. To each their own.

I've never been to that one, but I think it is quite well-known. I've seen it discussed before.

On your point about supply and demand. I think there is demand for pubs outside of that Sukhumvit corridor. Would need to be in an area with both farangs and middle-upper-economic group of Thais who've spent time overseas (study, vacation, etc)

Good to hear. He finally gets the recognition he deserves, trying to get the Craft Beers available to all. Uphill battle against the Big 3.
