Shock horror, Mayor of Manchester wins a handpicked seat for him in greater Manchester, a seat that has only been held by Labour……

Not exactly an achievement is it……

The right wing boys are upset because they fear Burnham will be a more effective leader than Starmer.

Any leader of the Labour Party has a tough job keeping its own party's left and right wingers from kicking off, but at least Burnham has more charisma than Starmer, though how far that will get him is open to conjecture.

Starmer would make an excellent Foreign Secretary, calm, thinking before he speaks, he has done a fine job keeping the idiot across the pond at arm's length.

We'll have to see what happens, maybe a deal can be worked out without a fight for the top job.

The problem is with all lefty socialist governments is how do you answer "The calculation problem" which is responsible for every collapse of all far-left socialist and communist governments/systems in history and it is littered with them.

You have to reward hard work, businesses, and innovation with a better life and money or you fail because people give up, flee, or don't bother... even Karl Marx said that some degree of capitalism is needed (even if it is imperfect). There are some really stupid idealist people around that don't read history and think we can give socialism another go because everyone who came before us were morons... dangerous thinking.

After this disastrous Labour' party disintegration when they tear themselves in pieces trying to elbow each other to the head of the freebie trough we will only have one honest politician left .

Well Chompy, how about you answer the calculation problem properly instead of being contemptuous and arrogant (as usual)? Guess the default lefty nonsense is gaslighting... nice try with your bullying, but doesn't work on me.

Neoliberalism put an end to all that.

Millions of people across the UK are busting their backsides trying to earn enough to keep a roof over their head, food on the table and clothes on their kid’s back.

Political parties founded by multimillionaires and funded by billionaires are are not going to fix the equation.

Oddly enough, you just coined what's completely wrong with the world with weak lefty governments... nice job man.

I’ve just pointed out the problem with neoliberalism, the reality of which is seen across every community in the UK.

The calculation problem is simple.

Trickle down economics is a lie, the money doesn’t trickle down.

Neoliberalism has had over 40 years to prove otherwise, and failed miserably

Can't believe I'm going to say this... but I agree with you, haha, first time for everything, I guess.

Priceless this is a paragraph from the link you posted and now see why and where you got your new favorite word from "extrapolated" Mr cut and paste.

Do the Government accept that if we "extrapolate" nationally the Jay report on Rotherham and other reports from Telford and Oxford, there appear to have been upwards of 250,000 young white girls raped in this century, very largely by Muslim men, usually several times a day for years?

I was in the UK February and March, staying in cities, towns and villages.

I even made it to Lowe’s constituency, though it wasn’t a highlight so I went up the coast away to stay in Blakeney at the Blakeney Hotel (superb) and dinner at The Moorings (sublime cold water seafood).

Try not to miss these if you’re ever out that way.

It was a wonderful trip, I can’t wait to go back, perhaps next summer.

I love Blakeney and North Norfolk my brother lives in Heacham - did you get to see the seals ?

Certainly a turning point for Starmer.

This was a proxy referendum on his leadership. The people have spoken. Starmer OUT. Get the snivelling little racist tyrant out of power ASAP.

I tend to agree that the result was a referendum on Starmer's leadership, and perhaps unsurprising due to the hatred whipped up on social media. That said, I'm sure he'll stand against Burnham and, depending on who else stands and how the votes are split, he may still have a chance.

As a Labour supporter I want whoever is best for the party and has a chance of defeating the forces of the extreme Right. That looks like Burnham. I'd like to see Starmer stay around as he's a decent man who has made good progress in the 2 years he's been in office, despite what the extremists say. But Burnham offers the best hope for the future.

Getting pretty fed up with the endless stream of malcontents whose primary motivation for change is Starmer's lack of charisma. Christ on a bike, Bojo had charisma up the ying yang and where the hell did that get us?

Andy Burnham has won a crunch by-election in a major blow to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

The Greater Manchester Mayor is now set to challenge the Labour leader for the top job in Government.

He said the Makerfield result could be the “turning point” to bring about “the change this country needs”, adding that Labour had a “final chance to change” and “we must act upon it”.

Mr Burnham won the vote by 9,231 votes, seeing off the challenge from Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.

To claim “nobody was betting on Reform” is a massive rewrite of history. Reform absolutely threw the kitchen sink at Makerfield, fully expecting their local candidate to capitalise on the recent local election momentum where they took over 46% of the vote in Wigan. They didn’t just lose; they got utterly trounced.

If a "donkey" could win it, then Reform just got beaten by a landslide by a donkey. Andy Burnham didn't just crawl over the line he crushed Reform by over 9,200 votes, pulling a commanding 54.8% of the total vote share. Even if you combine the votes of Reform and the hardline Restore party, Burnham still beat them both by over 6,100 votes clear. The voter turnout actually rose compared to the general election because people actively turned up to reject the Reform platform.

As for the rest of your made-up rant, I won't dignify it with a reply.

Hard to beat an incumbent popular Mayor in a dyed in the wool Labour electorate.

Give it time.

The only reason Labour won was to bring Burnham back to Parliment to oust Stalmer. The labour party have no body they can replace him with, there favourite is Burnham so it was inevitable he would win the seat. I believe if Maggie Oliver fought for Reform in the seat it might have been different.

They never talk about the, now previous, incumbent labour MP who they crucified to allow the bye election to take place.

It is ALWAYS about the party, the country and people come last.

Shame that these people are so easily fooled. But not so easily fooled as though that think crypto stuffed fag ash Farage has anything other than grift and corruption to offer the UK. Hence the tactical voting and I expect the large "we hate Reform" electorate will repeat at the next election and send them packing. Aided I hope by Rupert Lowe and a resurgent Tory party. Come on Rupert ! Imagine waking up and finding this POS as PM - I would feel physically sick - hopefully he will take up flying again. We live in hope.

Hate and misery mongering can only ever gather the malcontent vote.

But please let’s not get rid of Lowe just yet, he’s on a mission to destroy Farage.

Why would you wish for somebody to "destroy" Farage ? one minute you are accusing people of hatred and misery mongering and then in the same breath advocating for a man's "destruction",yourself clap2

I would be surprised to see that level of aggression from any of my fellow right wingers on here. But it seems almost normal when it comes from one of you lot nowadays, What are you hoping for a Charlie Kirk type assasination?

Doesn't seem to matter who gets in nowadays, Conservative or Labour. Once in, they just ignore their manifesto promises of 'stopping the boats' etc and just carry on the globalist agenda of open borders and mass immigration.
