Daily occurrence of some scummy Brit often shirtless causing trouble in Pattaya, maybe time to abort the nationality.

No to Aussie, too many bogans

No to American, too loud

No to Canadian, anger management issues.

I think I'll be a kiwi, generally smarter than aussies.

Good idea?

Never met an honest one yet out of plenty incl. a daughter in law. There are 000,s in Oz, legal and not, always looking for an angle. They speak weird, love to fight, do the haka and kill things!!💪 . "Once they were warriours! new-zealand-1663440.jpg

Buy a MAGA hat if you think the Brits are getting picked on.

I had one made at Chatuchak because I couldn't find one off the shelf. Just for grins. I'll never wear it in Asia. In fact, I don't generally wear ball caps at all outside the USA, going back over 20 years. I wear flat caps in Asia to keep the sun off my bald head. Ball caps are for when I'm home in Texas...

But do you have 4 friends to wait in the hotel room for you to bring the girl home?😜

Why are the Irish never embarrassed to say they're from Ireland? According to every stereotype imaginable, they're religious fanatics, heavy drinkers, loudmouths, redheads, money grubbers, pale as vampires, hot headed, and always ready to settle things with their fists. I mean, for all the stereotypes people throw around, the people in that country don't really seem to fit any of them.

Incorrect - they didn't beat up the cop - you made that up - again showing anti-foreigner bias.

This was the well-publicised incident in Phuket in March 2024 involving New Zealand brothers Hamish Day and Oscar Mattson. The facts are a little different from the version that has circulated online:

  • They allegedly rode through a police checkpoint.

  • A traffic policeman pursued and stopped them.

  • According to Thai police, an argument followed after the officer began recording the incident on his phone.

  • The brothers believed the officer was so angry that he might shoot them and they disarmed the policeman.

  • A shot was discharged (highlighting the officers weapon was loaded - chambered) - no one was injured.

The brothers' argued they believed the officer was so angry that he might shoot them, and that they disarmed him purely to protect themselves (feasible).

Thai authorities charged the brothers with offences including assaulting an officer (grappling with him to disarm him), robbery (for taking the firearm), obstructing police duties, driving without a licence, and attempted bribery.

The criminal case did not proceed.

  • The brothers reached a settlement with the injured officer, paying compensation (undisclosed amount).

  • They left Thailand and returned to New Zealand.

  • They were also banned from re-entering Thailand.

Not shinning examples - but also not quite the "two NZ brothers beat up cop" story either - a lot more nuance to it - but if they thought the Policeman angry enough to shoot them (and that has happened before) - then they are alive because of their actions.

Unnecessary.

Every culture has its chavs, bogans, hosers, deadbeats and assorted idiots. The difference is they make themselves obvious within minutes, while the decent majority simply get on with their lives unnoticed.

Despite the endless "Brit behaving badly" headlines, nobody assumes I'm one of them, and I'd wager the same is true for almost every other normal, law-abiding Brit who's out and about enjoying themselves and behaving normally.

A loud, highly visible minority doesn't define the majority. It just gets disproportionately amplified by the media.

True but if you read Facebook comments a lot of people are now expecting Brits to cause the trouble, when it happens daily you would do that. When a thai girl asks where I'm from i think twice now, no issue currently unless we go to immigration and their treatment changes

It seems that attacking Brits in a vicious way is perfectly normal and okay on this forum, like so with Jews are far game... try applying that to any other nationality or country and there would be sanctimonious howls of protest. There are idiots of all nationalities, no reason to single out one... even thought there are many UK haters on this forum who are little more than the equivalent of racists.

Kiwis and Canadians are mostly gay though - if youre straight you're probably better of confessing to being English than giving people the wrong idea and going on the 'Gaydar'.

I agree that the English chavvy bogan types are bad to be arounfd but tbf they're good for business in Patts as they're on the lash 24x7 - so u have to balance that.
In a way they subsidise us who arent FT alkies.

I'm English and agree with the OP.

Though they can sometimes be very funny, low class brits are the WORST low class people in the world - by far.
ALWAYS causing trouble wherever they go.
Smash, bang wallop - "iss onLy da lAds aVin a LarF inNit"
Extremely tiresome and often dangerous to be around.
Look at the football - the world welcomes the jocks, paddys and even sheep ****gers but get the plastic glasses out and the shutters up when pikey English types rock up.
I get the OP's shame at being associated with them but, if it's that much of a problem, just leave pattaya - those types are attracted to pattaya and benidorm like flies to

The kiwi stole the cops gun

IMG_20260625_185559.jpg

The brothers 'brawled' with the Cop ??? No fists were used, the copy didn't get beaten up - the brothers restrained him and grappled for his gun because they thought he was going to shoot them.

The Brothers had blown through a check point - either deliberately so (which was stupid), or or because the didn't think they were being pulled over. I ride and drive through checkpoints all the time - I slow, but don't stop unless a police officer starts waving me down - My brother in law actually rode through a check point once and was chased down, he had no idea the police officer indented to stop him - the policeman punched Bro-in-law in the face when he caught up with him !!! - so the BiB are certainly not 'calm and collected' when such misunderstandings occur.

In this case - the Police officer who reportedly had intended for them to pull over - perhaps he waved them down and they missed that or ignored it. Regardless the Policeman followed them and pulled them over - the situation became heated and the brothers feared that the policeman was so angry he'd draw he weapon - Fearful for their safety and what appeared to be very angry policeman - they disarmed him - which involved grappling to restrain him and removing his gun - a shot went off, highlighting that the gun was not in safe state.

The borthers did not 'Beat up the cop' as you stated - but this was reported as an attack - Realistically - photos show the (the brothers) restrained and disarmed the Policeman - they waited at the scene for other Policemen to turn up and handed the gun over.

Certainly not a good - but its not the "two brothers beat up a cop" story that you are trying to present either.

You can put your 'anti-farang' spin on it as you do everything - and this was a terrible situation - just not quite the extreme beatdown you wanted it to be so you could feed your bias.

Unless you are a mentally unhinged irrational headcase - just be straight - people can see you for who and what you are are.

When someone asks where I am from - I say UK - never a second through, never a concern.... people judge and perceive based on whats in front of them - and if they don't thats their issue not mine - but its not something I've encountered.

The only thing I do encounter - is 'anti-British' comments on forums such as this, or on facebook etc by those who 'bounce around within their own echo-chambers and can't escape their own confirmation bias - they're just not very bright people when making sweeping judgments.

I see the Scot's being anti-English and the English being anti-Scottish (about the football etc) - if its simple banter its fine, but some go beyond that, and thats not representative of any Scotsman or Englishman I personally know.

How do you know that ? (who it was).

Obviously someone paid compensation to grease the wheels of 'forgiveness'... (brothers or parents)

Par for the course for Thailand - payment to get out of trouble.

In this case, no one was hurt, but there was a significant loss of face for the Thai Police.

Check-point ignored (or not seen) & Policeman disarmed - that was the real issue.

But the other side of the coin - a potentail loose cannon (no pun) with a loaded unsecured weapon was controlled - that of course depends on the optics from which we viewed this event.

Its not clear if the Policeman was angry enough to 'shoot' at the brothers - but it wouldn't be the first time in Thailand - precedence of policemen shooting foreigners out of anger / loss of face in Thailand exists.

Back on Topic - Two NewZealanders who made the press 27 months ago is hardly evidence that paints all New Zealanders as 'wrong-uns'.... but those such as SafetyFirst want to paint any negative story involving a foreigner with his own additional bias to colour the narrative - the repetition of which on this forum is quite frankly tiresome.

The vast majority of foreigners who visit and live Thailand are very decent folk - no matter the nationality or area they are in - its only those who feed off the negative news who like to amplify the negativity to suit an unhinged and poisoned narative.

So - Brits and anyone else go ahead an be proud of your nationality - its only the unhinged weirdo's and freaks who pass judgement with such overt bias.
