I am not worried about 2nd Gen Asian American youth being led astray by H. Pylori microbes.

I do NOT care about your GUT, as I already stated clearly...!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have something to say, then back it up with supporting evidence, and a link.

Can you or can you NOT do this?

And, please leave your guts and microbes out of this discussion.

Read everything and don't skim, as it's already done by a few here who have trouble comprehending all of what's written, so it's their go-to for arguing. I don't need to always post links as I, unlike you it seems, have actual experience in things you seem to not.

As I stated, when choosing a school, do the required research.

Drug use on campus obviously varies.

Among the schools, the private schools, and I mean PREP SCHOOLS that I would choose for anyone I cared about, I would choose one having low drug-abuse on campus.

I would NOT choose a Catholic or a Religious School, because i would not wish them to live their lives being guided by BLIND FAITH.....

And so, I do not know much about drug abuse happening in these schools. And it might be very high, for all I know.

You seem to be obsessed by the Delusion of Christianity and The One True God, or gods, or....whatever.

Anyone's life can go 'to the dogs' no matter where you live.

You daughter can get in with the wrong crowd and get into drugs in the US.

Some women here end up with abusive / alcoholic guys.

Some girls do well in the US, some girls do well in Thailand.

There's no one size fits all.

And its partly luck, and partly good or bad decisions no matter where you live.

My Guts are FINE, than you, Sir.

But, I try not to let my GUTS do me thinking for me.

Although, unfortunate to say, it now appears that our guts actually DO DO a percentage of our thinking for us.

There seems to be new research which demonstrates the role of the GUT in cognition, if you can believe it....and I guess the data seems compelling.

However, I refuse to debate with ANYONE the question of whether God exists, unless I can do so, TOTALLY using my GUTS, and not my brain.

Also, I do think that Chinese who send their children to the USA for school, must we wary that they might run into Religious Zealots, or something.

There are just TOO MANY in America, as we all know.

Blind-Faith, and all that Guts Thinking, is not healthy.

Do you actually think a school is going to advertise its level of drug use to potential students? Read the links, then come back and you'll understand where you went wrong. I posted links, and not just AI. Both said the same things.I have no delusions about God. If you don't believe, that's your deal, so best to keep it to yourself. Most Chinese believe in and pray to a man. Read all the links, not just one. There are many more you can find to know the truth.I also have relatives and friends who attended private schools and they said drug use was high.

I think the school will advertise the ABSENCE of illicit on-campus drug use.

But, one needs to do research to choose the best boarding school for one's children.

Visit the school, and meet the parents and the children.

I think the level of drug use among very goal-oriented Chinese families is super low.

I know of good boarding schools, and great Prep Schools, where drug use is low.

This does not mean that alcohol use will not always be a problem for private schools.

I realize that this is a challenge.

However, it is not as bad as in public schools, if comparing top Prep Schools to public schools, in any given area of the country.

And, this applies only to USA schools, which is the implied question of this glorious Topic, in the first place.

How is your microbiome doing, gamma?

Dear Sir,

I am super pleased that you asked this important question, since it seems to go to the heart of the matter, in several important ways:

a. First, let us examine the Microbiota-Gut_brain Axis, and how the gut microbiome influences Human cognition. This is quite new and important science.

b. Here is a short summary of the interconnections between the GUT and overall Cognition:

Recent empirical research establishes that the human microbiome influences cognitive function through a bidirectional communication network defined as the microbiota-gut-brain axis (mGBA). This axis integrates neural, immunological, and endocrine pathways. The gut microbiome regulates cognitive health through four primary mechanisms.

The Microbiota-Gut-Brain Axis (mGBA)

1. Synthesis of Neuroactive Metabolites

Gut microbiota metabolize indigestible dietary fibers to produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), primarily acetate, propionate, and butyrate.

  • Mechanism: SCFAs enter the systemic circulation and traverse the blood-brain barrier (BBB).

  • Cognitive Impact: Within the central nervous system, SCFAs modulate synaptic plasticity, support neurotransmission, and supply metabolic energy to neuronal tissues. Reductions in SCFA production correlate directly with diminished memory consolidation and impaired executive function.

2. Immune Modulation and Neuroinflammation

A stable gut microbiome regulates mucosal immunity and suppresses systemic inflammatory responses. Dysbiosis, an imbalance in microbial composition, disrupts this homeostasis.

  • Mechanism: Dysbiotic gut bacteria stimulate the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines. These circulating cytokines cross the BBB and chronically activate microglia, the primary immune cells of the brain.

  • Cognitive Impact: Chronic microglial activation induces sustained neuroinflammation, termed "inflammaging." This state accelerates neuronal degradation and is a defining physiological marker in cognitive disorders, including dementia and Parkinson's disease. Specific microbial metabolites, such as isoamylamine, can directly induce microglial apoptosis, further impairing neurological defense mechanisms.

3. Vagal Nerve Signaling and Neurotransmitter Production

Gut bacteria possess the biochemical capacity to synthesize neuromodulators and neurotransmitters that interact with the host nervous system.

  • Mechanism: Microbial neurochemicals locally stimulate the enteric nervous system. These signals are transmitted directly to the brainstem via the vagus nerve, establishing a continuous neural feedback loop between intestinal activity and central cognitive centers.

  • Cognitive Impact: Vagal afferent signals modulate brain regions associated with spatial memory, visual processing, and emotional regulation. Decreased microbial diversity disrupts these neural circuits, resulting in measurable declines in cognitive flexibility and attentional vigilance.

4. Barrier Integrity Maintenance

The functional integrity of the intestinal epithelium and the blood-brain barrier are interdependent.

  • Mechanism: Severe dysbiosis increases intestinal permeability. This allows bacterial endotoxins and unregulated immune mediators to enter the bloodstream.

  • Cognitive Impact: Systemic endotoxemia subsequently degrades the structural integrity of the BBB. A compromised BBB exposes the brain to peripheral neurotoxins, creating an inflammatory environment that actively suppresses optimal cognitive processing and accelerates age-related cognitive decline.

c. And now, back to some important implications hinted at, in this Topic:

  1. Let's us first consider....SOUL FOOD

  2. The traditional Black American Southern diet—often referred to as soul food—is a deeply rooted cuisine that originated during the era of American slavery. Enslaved Africans and their descendants used resourcefulness, seasoning, and West African traditions to transform the inexpensive or discarded food scraps provided to them into flavorful, nourishing meals.

  3. Also, watermelon

  4. Chitlins, and how Chitlins might influence the GUT, and the microbiome....

  5. image.png

  6. It is said, or it has been said for eons, that We are what we eat.

  1. Do you see my point, here, Sir?

Most Chinese Parents NEVER expect that their fine young daughters, from China, will end up gorging on Soul Food....

No worries.

I am not illiterate.

I read through the glop links you posted.

But the links you posted did NOT link to the original articles, the original journal articles.

This is often a problem with the glop being posted in today's superficial and misleading media.

Why don't you just make the effort to actually track down the original science journal articles....?

Certainly, it CANNOT be because you are ..... "too busy" to do so.

Why CAN'T you just settle down with some nice Jewish girl, here in America?

I don't know, but maybe my mother might have been right.

Still, I think she was wrong.

Chinese girls, the good ones, are smarter, finer, more beautiful, and less full of angst, than Jewish Girls.

Also, most Chinese girls, if they have listened to their mothers, are able to make FAR BETTER CHICKEN SOUP, compared to young Jewish Girls.

Funny when someone is proven wrong by many reputable links they still find ways to disprove the facts, Use that genius IQ and find some yourself and get educated on the subject. I already mentioned I know people who have gone to private schools, who have verified the amount of drug use going on. I don't need to find any more, as I already showed enough proof, let alone know of actual people who verified what I knew years ago.

Just you saying a girl would do better in school here shows a severe lack of common sense and knowledge of what goes on in local schools here.

Remember when I said my school owner friend, with 50 years in Thai school systems, said my daughter will be much better off in America? When people who have no children try and out think those that have many, it makes me smile.

No, I'm talking about responsible gun owners. We don't worship guns, as they're just a tool to use to hunt. There is no everybody besides those that have little to no knowledge on guns and why they're just those tools and nothing more.

WOW.

If this is really true.....

I am SO SORRY to know this.

This must have been, and truly was, a parent's worst nightmare.

THE PROBLEM is that parent's no matter how much they care, and they DO CARE SO MUCH, are unable to steer their young girls away from this kind of danger, when children are blind to what parents are able to clearly see.

It could have been even worse, I suppose, and sometimes is.

These days, there are many who say/maybe-believe that all cultures are equal.

But, this kind of BLIND-FAITH and STUPID THINKING is not realistic, nor is it based on reality.

There is such a thing as immutability of personality.

When one grows up in a slum, one never fully sheds the influences of the experience.

Culture is Crucial: As for me, I prefer Chinese Culture, and always will.

Again, sorry to hear what your daughter endured, and what you must have endured, for years.
