JHC Fred, all you have to do is move away from your Isaan home and enroll your daughter in a good school. Where she can have friends from successful families. And if you're going to Texas, do it.

You're welcome.....

We're going to, after things are settled here as far as the house. I was answering GG about his lack of knowledge on Thailand's schools and what goes on here.

Some Black Gang-Banger?

Then what?

Is the dream of the Joy Luck Club a total thing of the past?

NOTE3: Where is my TIME-MACHINE when I most need it? Back in the early 1970s, things were NOT like this. Chinese girls were Chinese, even in America, and we did not need to worry about guys like Kodiak Black singing stinking songs about women.

What is really in the mind of Kodiak Black, and others of his ilk?

No need to ask.

Because, there really IS NO mind, worth thinking about.

Welcome to the USA of Today, Folks.

I lived in the San Francisco bay area before moving to Thailand and as a white guy, I was the minority. Other countries are struggling with immigrants much more than America because the immigrants are not feeling they belong and hence the issues.

I think what the other poster is saying is that you are over complicating your situation here. Your daughter could get a good education here and live a good life. You uprooting her and yourself for a dream of a better life in America is doomed to fail. You might pull it off and I hope your daughter is happier and you spend your days hiking in blueberry fields, hunting and fishing. My gut tells me that it will be a terrible decision but we all make them.

She would not have a good life here , as I know how women here are looked at. She will make more money in America, have a safer driving life, real friends, family, more things to do and enjoy, and a thousand times better chance of finding a decent mate.

I have 5 children already in America doing well, as are the hundreds of friends and family's families. Anyone living here for a few years already knows how women here are treated, unless they are the ones who treat them badly themselves.

My daughters are not secondary to any man.

How many women here have decent mates and are making a decent salary?

Half Thai children always have problems here in schools, as my daughter has had in her first 4 grades. It might not show early but will later, especially when they start dating local boys.

There are good reasons my Thai English school owner, with 50 years of Thai school experience, says to get my daughter into America asap.

Maybe you don't realize that slavery is higher now than ever before, and that Thailand has a lot of slavery going on daily, along with other countries with forced marriage, workers on boats, human trafficking and debt peonage. Asia being among the highest areas. China itself has millions living in modern slavery. AI since you like using it............The most prominent forms of modern slavery in China include:

  • State-Sponsored Forced Labor: The Chinese government operates mass forced labor programs targeting ethnic and religious minorities, particularly Uyghurs in the Xinjiang region and Tibetans. Under the guise of "poverty alleviation" and "re-education," millions of individuals are placed in internment camps or forced to work in factories, farms, and manufacturing sectors.

  • Global Supply Chain Complicity: Products made from these forced labor camps—including electronics, textiles, and agricultural goods—frequently enter global supply chains.

  • Human Trafficking and Forced Marriage: Women and girls are frequently trafficked into China from neighboring countries like Myanmar and North Korea for the purposes of forced marriage and sexual exploitation.

  • Maritime Abuse: Reports indicate severe labor abuses and human trafficking aboard Chinese distant-water fishing fleets, where workers face wage theft, violence, and forced labor.

  • If you lived there in an apartment, and ate Chinese food, you didn't experience how a Chinese person lives, but were a tourist with more money, and could stay away from anything labor oriented, so you don't know. Here's a link for you on your country, although like the others, you'll dismiss it and not see the truth.

GG, you've been wrong all along, and with your supposed genius level IQ, should have already stopped replying, as I showed you where you were wrong many times. That you don't think so is obvious, and expected, from your history. Speaking English doesn't have you losing your native language.

Maybe you really haven't been around those who speak English along with Chinese, Japanese and Thai, but I have, many, many times, hearing them speak to their own kind, then switching back to English effortlessly.

I've loved Asian food and culture since I was in high school, and have made it a mainstay of my life interacting with them, both as friends and in restaurants, for 50+ years. None has lost their ability to speak their own language. Get out more, as living in China a short while then Thailand doesn't make you an expert of the people. You have to actually talk with them.

If a child is sent to the US for schooling, this means college, which means they've already had 17 years of speaking their native language. They don't lose that no matter how long they speak English. I know many that were born in America who had native Asian parents, where they learned both at the same time, and can speak both fluently. You obviously aren't a people person.

Here is one link........ https://prachataienglish.com/node/9990................Some which show what has gone on here........

In Thailand, while abuse of children in schools is commonplace, solutions are hard to enforce. Real reform won’t likely come from policy dictated by the Ministry of Education, but rather by taking a long, hard look at behavior embedded deep in Thai society. Thailand is rooted in authoritarian behavior. It’s nearly etched into the culture. As the old Thai idiom goes, “รักวัวให้ผูก รักลูกให้ตี,” meaning, “If you love your cow, tie it up. If you love your children, spank them.”

Of course, when idioms like these became popular, there wasn’t widespread knowledge of human rights or the psychological impacts of such punishments on the well-being of young children.  Researchers from the University of Michigan and the University of Texas recently looked at studies from more than 160,000 American children, of whom showed increased signs of aggression, cognitive difficulties, and mental health challenges.

Punishment has been discussed repeatedly in the past, but teachers do not often know the limits of their actions. The standard military-style haircuts–crew cuts for boys and a short bob for girls–date back to the era of Thanom Kittikachorn in 1972. Like the flawed, outdated rote education system, Thailand’s rigid rules do not transcend eras. In January 2005, penalties were more clearly defined under Section 6 and Section 65 of the Child Protection Act, which define the limitations of punishments under four options: 1) lecturing; 2) threaten suspension; 3) issuance of demerits; and 4) instruct the student to join a group designed to adjust their behavior.

Thailand should also examine the top-down hierarchies that dominate society. School principals and teachers hold higher status in society, as do other professions that come with a public pension. Many Thai people see teaching as a noble and secure profession. Further, the practice of deferring naturally to those of higher status, particularly in schools, contributes to the problem. The Thai practice of krengjai, a norm where people engage in behavior that encourages a kind of humility, respect, and consideration of others is problematic, as in schools it means deferring or accepting power differences almost by default.

Among a growing segment of the population that has been exposed to best practices where corporal punishment is not a part of school culture and where an increasing number of Thais are sending their children abroad for a more international experience, the thought of tolerating abuse is unthinkable. But in many parts of Thailand, it goes with the territory. Many parents are overly reliant on teachers and schools in the rearing of their children, as many feel that the higher status, better educated teachers and administrative staff have the education and training that they lack.

Why are you still saying false when I provide facts? Read them first, instead of commenting from your own experience, and you'll see this is how it is there, and has been all along. Your visiting "many" factories, which I'm thinking is a gross exaggeration anyway, as why would anyone, doesn't help what is.

There is racism everywhere, including right here against foreigners, which is home taught. I wasn't comparing African to China's slave trade but pointing it out, and if you read what I wrote, you would understand that. maybe.

Remember, again, you haven't been back to the US to live in decades, so you know almost noting about what goes on there now.

I likely know more about geography than you ever will. I've always done what's best for all my children, hence their success in life, seeing I was their primary caretaker.

Again, no need for you to comment on children, as you aren't qualified. You haven't any, so have no idea what goes on raising them.

Look up statistics on how children here are treated before you comment as you have absolutely no idea. There are hundreds of expats that send their children to the west for schooling and to live, and it's the same reasons I'm moving with mine. Stay out of my business and again curb the childish insults. Smart people don't regress to lies, exaggerations and assumptions. Idiots do.

During the past 60 years, social and demographic change has been immense.

The USA is now a very different country than it once was.

I prefer the country that the USA once was.

That's good but a large majority here aren't happy, and the lifestyle shows it. Well known how the men treat their women, and that's not a prerequisite for happiness, as well as how the religion looks at them. If you're treating your women well, as it seems, she is lucky as her options here aren't great, which is one reason I'm moving with my daughter.

A future usually includes a mate, and although men aren't great in all areas of the world, there's a reputation here that's factual. I heard about it when I was in high school, and see it here since moving here.

My daughter's going to be a looker, and that's another reason i want her to have a good education in a safer school where her independence means a lot more. Not needing a man but eventually wanting a decent one.

Women here who like being a farmer seem to be content, although no one really knows how they're being treated at home but them, but a farm usually means teamwork between husband and wife. That again doesn't mean he's a gentleman, but that he's more likely to stay at home with the family. Those that hit the cities have unlimited women to choose from, and use, especially the young naive ones.

I'd much rather have my daughter taking a chance with a western man, even though I know many can't be trusted, than trying her luck here, with one that's much more likely to disappear when a child is born, and not support it afterwards.

Making 300-500 baht a day isn't anything besides surviving, and even if they go to college, many still end up with low paying jobs, which means dependence on others. In America, she will make more every hour then most here will in a week. Even though things cost more there, there's still a larger chance for savings there.

Like I mentioned a few times, when a 72 year old Thai English school owner in the system for 50 years says it's better for my daughter in America than here, it adds to the decision.
