A redneck is a slang term historically used to describe a poor, rural white laborer in the American South. Sunburn on the neck is a distinguishing feature.

I suppose it could apply to anywhere laborers worked in the sun and got sunburn on their neck...

Actually, IMHO, I think the term has come to mean more, as in someone who is less tolerant, due to being "unenlightened", and someone with less knowledge about the wider world.

Rednecks have been very hardworking, in the past.

Education probably quite limited.

And so, it would be WRONG to belittle the TRADITIONAL redneck.

Here is a joke for you:

It seems to me that slavery is one of the very worst institutions humans have ever created.

As for the USA and Slavery: In fact, the JOKE is on the USA.

Slavery devastates, seemingly for perpetuity, those who enslave others, even more than those who are enslaved.

The USA is now, without doubt, still suffering due to the aftereffects of hundreds of years of slavery.

Do you think that the USA will ever be Free, free of the ripple effects and repercussions of centuries of slavery?

I think not, or not for about one more century.

Slaves, and the descendants of slaves, never forget.

Or, do you think they forget, really?

Or, do the memories of being enslaved, continue to smolder and burn?

Therefore, if one wishes to escape the effects of these repercussions, then best just to leave the area.

Maybe best to live in a homogeneous society, such as China?

China is a great place to live.

China has suffered due to political turmoil and upheaval, and due to colonization.

But, if one actually travels to China, and lives there, it is a very happy place.

The problem, living in China, is that the "comfort level" of some western countries just is not there.

But, is China better than the USA for Chinese students?

It is, for most students.

10 years from now, China will be far better for most undergrad college work, as well.

The education system in China might require a bit of easy reform, perhaps.

Here, Sir, is just one more joke, which is actually a JOKE on the Parents of young girls and boys they bring to the USA....

They come to the USA for a better education for their smart and hard-working children. They think they will reap, for their children, an Ivy-League Education.

But, they do not understand the real Trade-off. They are trading their children's Chinese heritage for a Big-Mac Future in a land which they do not fully understand.

Their children will lose their native language; they will forget how to read and write Chinese, and the literature of China will cease to be available to them.

Their children's Chinese heritage and roots will be replaced with a garbage-culture, since, for the first few generations they will never qualify to become a true part of The Establishment.

This sad story is not a new one.

The Italians from Italy have endured this, in the past, as we all know.

And here, to commemorate this transition from immigrant to fully UPRIGHT citizen in the USA, I will link this song. Truly, the Chinese who come to America have one foot in two boats. I am sure that you have heard spoken this interesting yet descriptive idiom :

As most of us know by now, and have known for ages, JingThing is one of the most intelligent and level-headed commentators on TV.

JingThing comes from an undisclosed city in the USA, as far as I know.

Then, WHY, you might ask, is JingThing always looking for some PLAN B, better than Thailand?

SURELY, if JingThing were forced to leave Thailand, for whatever reason, then would you not think that his HOME COUNTRY and HOME CITY might be OK, for him?

I do know that JingThing had a very happy childhood, living in his Home City, way back in the day, when the city was livable.

But, THESE DAYS?

Is JingThing's Home City livable?

I would say...NO....because.....almost....

NOBODY WOULD SAY.....Yes......

image.png

IF, and I say, IF, JingThing's Home City in his Home Country, were livable, then he would not continually ask this same question.

And, since JingThing recognizes that his Home Country and Home City are NOT nearly as good as when he was far younger, then why are the Chinese girls flocking to America?

This is a very good question.

I think that it is basically due to Sexy Black Men, because....

It really cannot be due to anything else good in the USA.

Can it?

Thank about it.

If you were a young girl, and knew nothing, and then you saw someone like Chris Brown, bending a girl over his knee....

Would not this turn you on so much as to compel you to emigrate to the USA???

Seriously, though:

Chinese Parents, those who live in China and who contemplate leaving China, for whatever reason....

They truly know ZILCH about American Culture, or the depths to which American Culture has SUNK.....during the past few decades.

America is NOT what it once was when these parents were young and impressionable.

I am FAIRLY SURE that JingThing knows the score.

He is one of the very few smarter than I, on TV, ...after-all...

What is YOUR opinion, JingThing?

I would be very interested, personally.

4 hours ago, GammaGlobulin said:

WOW.

If this is really true.....

I am SO SORRY to know this.

This must have been, and truly was, a parent's worst nightmare.

THE PROBLEM is that parent's no matter how much they care, and they DO CARE SO MUCH, are unable to steer their young girls away from this kind of danger, when children are blind to what parents are able to clearly see.

It could have been even worse, I suppose, and sometimes is.

These days, there are many who say/maybe-believe that all cultures are equal.

But, this kind of BLIND-FAITH and STUPID THINKING is not realistic, nor is it based on reality.

There is such a thing as immutability of personality.

When one grows up in a slum, one never fully sheds the influences of the experience.

Culture is Crucial: As for me, I prefer Chinese Culture, and always will.

Again, sorry to hear what your daughter endured, and what you must have endured, for years.

Yeah, it's kind of strange. She trusts me with all kinds of stuff I doubt other kids tell their parents. I've gotta say, I wish I hadn't heard some of it. But it's a good thing she trusts me that much, eh. She's been like that since she was a little girl.

Anyone with just an OUNCE of empathy must have great empathy for what you (and she) endured.

I, TOO, wish I had not heard this, actually.

These choices that children make are not choices due to willfully choosing some undesirable path.

They make these choices since they are drawn to them.

We do not blame children, in the story, for following the Pied Piper.

Very hopefully, all is well.

Dear Folks,

I want to be CRYSTAL CLEAR:

Just like Larry David, I have absolutely NOTHING against Black Americans.

In fact, just like Larry, I would be happy to invite a Black American Family into my home, any day.

Unfortunately, where I live in Thailand, there seems to be, fortunately, a death of Black Americans.

Nothing I can do about this, reality.

But, as I say, if there WERE a Black American Family, here in my village, then they would be welcome at my home, 24-7-365.

It's called research, and it's true. Take some of your time in your apartment and research. I have presented reliable evidence for what we're talking about.

My daughter will be going to a public school, as they're very good in America, especially the ones in Texas. A "satisfactory" schooling here doesn't mean a satisfactory job here, and living her as a girl is the downside, as anyone who has children knows, which is why so many send them to America, like your Chinese girls you speak about.

Thailand is not safe, as I know being a member of AN, along with having my eyes open, unless you stay in your village, away from certain borders, don't get into any argument with the quick to kill locals for minor offenses, have a decent woman who won't get others after you, and don't drive , especially using a scooter.I came to Thailand to visit Thailand, and met the wrong woman to stay with, but okay to have my daughter with, as she will soon have that better life in America.

Yes, I know exactly what good food is, as I've been eating it for 69 years.

It's best not to comment on things you know nothing about, like raising children in a safe environment. Stick to things you know a lot about, whatever that might be.

Yes, and this is why, the song from The Godfather is so full of sadness for many immigrants to America.

For a person who actually lived in America, you have forgotten what it's all about, and seeing you haven't been there in decades, have no idea how it is now. Thinking Chinese girls there are going to lose their language and heritage is ignorance. They'll adopt a new culture, along with keeping their own, which is one of the better things a person can do in life. Seeing how others live, and blending in to that society.

Also thinking they'll have a problem with black men shows prejudice, as you've shown before. There are thousands of other Chinese and Asians living in America, as they love it there. There are also millions of men who aren't a danger to them, as your prejudice thinking misses, from not living there for so long and possibly being hermit minded when you did.

Chinese literature, along with temples, other Chinese who've lived there for a generation, restaurants and social clubs are there when they want a taste of their native land, while enjoying American food and new friendships. China knows full well how America is, having people by the thousands visiting yearly, along with relatives and friends living there already.

If you love China so much, stop being ignorant of how America is, as you have no idea, and move to Beijing, to see if they'll allow you to integrate there. Sitting in your apartment and rarely leaving, while posting boring topics, along with old videos, shows your level of thinking, lost in the 70's.

There are reasons many move to America, especially from China, that you're missing. You lost your native country, so again, find an apartment in China and you'll be happier.

Americans love America, for good reason, and it has nothing to do with Trump. It's a great country, having all anyone needs in one place, along with freedom. People move there for many reasons. It's a melting pot of all world cultures, where one can enjoy them all in that one place. If you hate it so much for some reason you experienced in childhood, don't waste time trying to put it down, as you forgot what it's all about, living in a place where you are tolerated because you spend money, but yes, maybe the Chinese will be okay with you, as you are their hero worshiper.

Maybe you don't realize that slavery is higher now than ever before, and that Thailand has a lot of slavery going on daily, along with other countries with forced marriage, workers on boats, human trafficking and debt peonage. Asia being among the highest areas. China itself has millions living in modern slavery. AI since you like using it............The most prominent forms of modern slavery in China include:

  • State-Sponsored Forced Labor: The Chinese government operates mass forced labor programs targeting ethnic and religious minorities, particularly Uyghurs in the Xinjiang region and Tibetans. Under the guise of "poverty alleviation" and "re-education," millions of individuals are placed in internment camps or forced to work in factories, farms, and manufacturing sectors.

  • Global Supply Chain Complicity: Products made from these forced labor camps—including electronics, textiles, and agricultural goods—frequently enter global supply chains.

  • Human Trafficking and Forced Marriage: Women and girls are frequently trafficked into China from neighboring countries like Myanmar and North Korea for the purposes of forced marriage and sexual exploitation.

  • Maritime Abuse: Reports indicate severe labor abuses and human trafficking aboard Chinese distant-water fishing fleets, where workers face wage theft, violence, and forced labor.

  • If you lived there in an apartment, and ate Chinese food, you didn't experience how a Chinese person lives, but were a tourist with more money, and could stay away from anything labor oriented, so you don't know. Here's a link for you on your country, although like the others, you'll dismiss it and not see the truth.

Where do you come by such OUTLANDISH imaginary data?

Do you just dream this up, each night, tossing and turning, with a fevered brow, waking up in a cold sweat?

You have presented ZERO evidence to substantiate and support your BOGUS claim.

And, by the way, I just hope that you have about USD80,000 per year to spend on your daughter's education, at a decent private boarding school.

Because, here in Thailand, it is fully possible to obtain a satisfactory education for much, much less.

Thailand is safe.

I guess you have missed this point, while being a member of TV.

Everybody knows this.

But, my MOST IMPORTANT question to you is:

Why in heck did you ever come to Thailand, in the first place, with view such as yours?

Do you not think this both illogical and totally strange?

Did you come here, NOT of your own free will, or something?

And, since you seem to be the VERY DEFINITION of a Holy-Roller.....

Why not just stay in the Land of Holy-Rollers.....AMERICA?

Your decisions make no sense to me.

I came here because I love the culture.

Otherwise, I would not have come to Asia.

But you?

Why did you come here.

And, NOW, you say that you will be so happy to return to the USA where you can eat "GOOD FOOD" as if you might even know what good food might be.

Good Food is what you find in places like.....CHINA and Thailand....or, are you completely UNAWARE of this obvious fact?

Now, Please:

Just Get Down on your Knees, and Pray About it.....OR....

Just.....GET DOWN...Bro.......

Pray...Sir.....

Ask forgiveness for your Original Sin, Sir....

This is what makes the World go Round.....

In Thailand, while abuse of children in schools is commonplace, solutions are hard to enforce. Real reform won’t likely come from policy dictated by the Ministry of Education, but rather by taking a long, hard look at behavior embedded deep in Thai society. Thailand is rooted in authoritarian behavior. It’s nearly etched into the culture. As the old Thai idiom goes, “รักวัวให้ผูก รักลูกให้ตี,” meaning, “If you love your cow, tie it up. If you love your children, spank them.”

Of course, when idioms like these became popular, there wasn’t widespread knowledge of human rights or the psychological impacts of such punishments on the well-being of young children.  Researchers from the University of Michigan and the University of Texas recently looked at studies from more than 160,000 American children, of whom showed increased signs of aggression, cognitive difficulties, and mental health challenges.

Punishment has been discussed repeatedly in the past, but teachers do not often know the limits of their actions. The standard military-style haircuts–crew cuts for boys and a short bob for girls–date back to the era of Thanom Kittikachorn in 1972. Like the flawed, outdated rote education system, Thailand’s rigid rules do not transcend eras. In January 2005, penalties were more clearly defined under Section 6 and Section 65 of the Child Protection Act, which define the limitations of punishments under four options: 1) lecturing; 2) threaten suspension; 3) issuance of demerits; and 4) instruct the student to join a group designed to adjust their behavior.

Thailand should also examine the top-down hierarchies that dominate society. School principals and teachers hold higher status in society, as do other professions that come with a public pension. Many Thai people see teaching as a noble and secure profession. Further, the practice of deferring naturally to those of higher status, particularly in schools, contributes to the problem. The Thai practice of krengjaia norm where people engage in behavior that encourages a kind of humility, respect, and consideration of others is problematic, as in schools it means deferring or accepting power differences almost by default.

Among a growing segment of the population that has been exposed to best practices where corporal punishment is not a part of school culture and where an increasing number of Thais are sending their children abroad for a more international experience, the thought of tolerating abuse is unthinkable. But in many parts of Thailand, it goes with the territory. Many parents are overly reliant on teachers and schools in the rearing of their children, as many feel that the higher status, better educated teachers and administrative staff have the education and training that they lack.

JHC Fred, all you have to do is move away from your Isaan home and enroll your daughter in a good school. Where she can have friends from successful families. And if you're going to Texas, do it.

You're welcome.....
